    I know I am behind the time frame, but I did enjoy your video and the history you provided. Well done you getting through your concerns and just starting to cross stitch. I understand your concern about stitching Mirabilia patterns.
    I bought my first one in 1994, it is the original,pattern, not a reprint, for that year called Sleeping Beauty. That was a stiff learning curve, even though I had cross stitched before because there were beads. This was followed by Garden Verses, 1995, and Winter Queen, 1995. All original patterns, not reprints. Metallic thread and whisper white latter I am now more confident. I now have some 30 patterns, some are Nora Corbets. I have progressed, made my own project bags and work on a couple or so at a time. Sadly Sleeping Beauty was dropped by the house movers, so I am taking the opportunity to re do it, but different colours for some parts of the pattern. I have done all the Queens, and I still cannot do French Knots. Enjoy your cross stitch future. 😊

    The fabric you chose for Michael is perfect. Don't worry about buying patterns and not stitching them right away. I'm confident buying patterns and stitching them are two completely separate hobbies! 😆

      Lol Wendy, yes agreed - 2 completely separate hobbies 🤣. Oh thank you, I love the fabric and as soon as I received it immediately thought of Archangel. Worried that some of the gold would “hide” in the gold/brownish sections, but so far it looks fantastic. I think he is coming out for the first Monday, I love working on him 🤗

    I just love watching you, you are just so calm. I am new and I can only work on the Aida 14. I bought a random box, their mother had passed away and they were working hard to clear out the house, I messaged them for a price they said is $30 to high, and I thought well I will buy it, it was a drop off deal, they left the box on the steps took the money behind the mailbox. Oh myLanta I feel like I robbed a LNS (we do not have one anyways, I believe she had every Angel from lavender and lace. The beads the floss. I hit the jackpot for sure, feeling like I robbed them I messaged them back to come for more money it wasn’t a fair price, they said nope, mom would have wanted to see them go to a new sewer…so I couldn’t pay more. I was blessed. For real. Before that I went on a Nora Corbett witch pixels I started Raven

    What a wonderful collection of Mirabilia! I have been day dreaming of purchasing a Mira, not realizing they go out of print, and have missed out on some real beauties. So don’t feel any ounce of negative energy about collecting them over the years! Last year, I decided to jump in and purchased Princess Elliana. Just finished her! The most fun I’ve had in years working on any pattern! This year (Birthday present), I kitted up and started Ophelia! Stunning... just stunning!
    Glad I found you. You are great!!

    • @CrossedbyFloss
      @CrossedbyFloss  3 года назад

      Christine, so glad you found me too 😊. Thank you so much for your lovely comments, they make me smile. Funny, back in the day I didn’t realize that patterns discontinued, I just thought they weren’t in stock at that moment when I went through the patterns my LNS had. Now, I buy any new one as it comes out that I love and think I may stitch one day. And have a unicorn list of Mira’s that if I stumble across them I snatch them up if they are a reasonable price. Truly have more than I am ever going to be able to stitch, my hope is that one day either my daughter or granddaughter will get on board and take over where I leave off lol.
      Ophelia is gorgeous isn’t she? I will say she is the first Mira in a while that I was so excited about from the moment I saw her. Glad you are stitching her, are you doing the suggested fabric?

      @@CrossedbyFloss I am stitching Ophelia on the called for 32ct Laurel. Fabric for her was tricky to find. One thing I did notice... when I ordered the embellishment pack, there is only one packet of mill hill 03043 (pattern calls for 2). Just a heads up! 😊 Take care! See you soon!

    I used to bobbinate...now I put my threads in flossaway bags, label them by color and the dyer (WDW, GAST, etc.) and keep them on rings. I like the bags because I feel like they keep the threads from getting 'fuzzy' because they aren't touching each other like they did when I bobbinated and stored them together. Plus when I have little pieces left over after I use them, I can just stick those in the bag too. I love all of your Mira's. I have Sleeping Princess and Nora Corbett's little pixies...Gwen and Ana! Now you just made me want Ophelia! Thanks for sharing!

    Thank you so much for this wonderful video and sharing your Mirabilia journey!! I have been cross-stitching for 25+ years, and purchased my first Mirabilia ("Roses of Provence") only two months ago. I've only put just a few stitches in it so far as I am still slightly intimidated by it; so I may take you up on the SAL to build my confidence. My collection is going to grow by a few more when my 123 stitch order comes….couldn’t help myself. When I found out that Shimmering Mermaid just went OOP, I had a small moment of “ahhhh I need to get some patterns I have been waffling on”.
      Yes yes yes, start Portrait of Lauren - even though I am not a good SAL girl, I will start that one with you. Just need to kit her up (floss).
      I mean more power to people if they can get that price for charts - I have serious personal issues with it myself - but I do think back to the beanie baby craze and how much some of those went for too. I get so excited when I go on eBay and see a chart for a certain price, and then find out no, that’s not the price at all, that was for a bead pack or floss and the chart is triple or more the price of current prices today…sad. That is why I love out community, so very generous with either charts, time or advice.

      Aren’t they beauty’s?? And yes, I love TNS - I always get so happy when I visit the store and see Denise. She is my therapy hour 😊 Thank you so much for your sweet comments, they made my day.
      I looked at Ophelia, do you think they are a crown of flowers in her hair?

    Omg $150 for a pattern that’s crazy if I have it and I’ve finished with it and you want it it’s yours that’s my motto I’m loving watching you on mirabilia I can only work on two items at once and one of them is the Quaker Christmas Sal but I’m going to get a mirabilia pattern soon to try one I thought I bought one once only to find out it was a copy till I get one I’ll live through you happy stitching xx

      Oh Carole, it is so crazy to see some of the prices of out of print charts. I am like you, if I am done with it, I would like to just pass it along to someone who will love it like I did.
      If you buy from eBay you have to be really careful as people sell copies, which is horrible. I have seen a few recently that are doing that, but make it look like they are selling the chart. So awful for stitchers and especially for the designers.
      You know, the little free cherubs are super cute and maybe a great way to break into a Mira? Or there is a mermaid from the Australia retreat (that link is in the drop box) and she is a beauty and total bonus…free. Would love for you to join Mira Monday stitching 😊
      Have a great weekend Carole 🤗

    Love your Miras. I want to do one but haven’t started one yet. I am doing a Halloween witch from Shannon Christine which is Mira like and loving it. Just need to find the beads. Where do you order the beads and specialty threads in Canada? I’m in Ontario and having trouble finding the beads for mine.

    I don’t have any Mira’s but I’ve ordered one of the witches from Brandy of BeStitchMe. I’m scared of the beads but I want to try.

      That is awesome Peggy. I love the witches and have a few of them. Nothing to be afraid of with the beads, it is just a bead in place of the x 🤗

    If I was ever to do a Mira, it would be Ella the frog Princess. 🤗. Is it still in print? I may need to get that one just in case one day I need to stitch it.

      Lol that would be a perfect Mirabilia for you Amy! And yes, she is still available. Definitely get her, especially before she goes OOP. I think she was a 2013 release and I have no idea how the charts get determined for the discontinued list…..

    I would like to know what size the piece of fabric I need to buy? I like 16 count aida to work on. I have collected patterns to and have felt intimidated also but I am ready to try one. I have some kitted and after watching this floss tube I am ready to start one. Just afraid I won’t buy the right size of fabric!

    Do you use 16 count Aida for all your miras ? Or are you game to use a 28 count evenweave .?

    • @CrossedbyFloss
      @CrossedbyFloss  2 года назад +2

      Hi Beverley, I mostly used 16 count Aida, one I am using 18 count but for the most part 16 count Aida is my happy. Never thought of 28 count evenweave, not sure how much bigger it would make a Mira, but maybe a Nora would work on 28 super well 😊

    I want to do some nora pixies but don't like 32 count, what do i need to know to stitch these on 36 or 40? Bead size, krienik.....thanks

      Hi PaulaDawn,
      How exciting to start the Nora pixies! Such beautiful patterns. I don’t stitch on anything other than 16 aida for my Miras and Noras so unfortunately I wouldn’t be able to give you the best advice. Honestly I don’t “think” there is a big difference between 32 and 36 in terms of bead or krienek issues but please don’t take my word for it. A good resource could be FiberartsAmy on flosstube - she may have some better answers or possibly steer you to someone who can help more than me.

    What needle do you use for petite beads

    • @CrossedbyFloss
      @CrossedbyFloss  2 года назад

      I actually use a beading needle, they are super flexible and “bend” through all size beads. The one I like is the beadalon brand and is called collapsable eye needle.

    Hi Lisa! Why don’t you work on the frog one for your granddaughter every Monday until it’s done. You have all those Miras, but you haven’t
    ever finished one…? I’m sure she would be happy. Maybe you can even get it done by Christmas for her.
    I can see the fascination with Mira. However, it seems like such slow going.
    I bought a bunch of little Halloween 🎃 ornaments that have beads. (Not Mira.)It may be all beaded, I am not sure. I will see whether I like doing that or not.
    Maybe you can finally say you actually like pink and purple! You keep saying you don’t, and you keep picking patterns that have it. Maybe you don’t like to wear it, or have your furniture or dishes in pink and purple, but you obviously do like it in a Crosstitch pattern! By the way pink and purple are two of my favorite colors! I also like blues and greens, especially teal.
    I love mermaids! I am not a swimmer, nor do I go to the beach much. But I just love the images of them, and the idea of them. If I ever do a mermaid, it will probably be a Mirabilia. Or maybe I should say, if I ever do a Mirabilia, it will be a mermaid!
    Have fun! Hoping you get a Mirabilia done sometime soon. Or at least before your granddaughter graduates college. 😀
