As someone who likes Themeparks the reason Six Flags has struggled is because they went from charging Walmart prices to Target prices overnight with no quality improvement. Compared to Cedar Fair parks Six Flags parks have worse maintenance, worse landscaping, worse food, worse operations, and a worse atmosphere. I really hope that out of this merger and with Zimmerman as CEO that they start copying Cedar Fairs model over to the Six Flags parks

My local parks are six flags America and kings dominion. I used to go to six flags when it was known as adventure world in the mid 90s and then the six flags buyout with time Warner happened in 98 sure the CEO promised tons of new attractions were in the park's future and even filed permits for a slew of proposed attractions that in the end were never added since then SFA has become the redheaded stepchild of the six flags chain and by 2006 I'd had enough and didn't bother renewing my pass...the park hasn't even gotten a new coaster since 2001!! Sure they got a couple of hand me downs from the six flags park in Chicago but that's been it.
I left in favor of kings dominion, which by then had been purchased by cedar fair and while cedar fair has done some good work on the park they're beginning to go down that same path that SFA did years earlier
Both chains need to stop this ridiculous coaster arms race between magic mountain and cedar point because that is what's costing other parks in their respective chains from getting new rides which are desperately needed.
