This is also my favorite piece by Dowland! I played it for Per-Olof when applying for the Academy in 1976. This piece has meant a lot in my professional and personal life. When my former girlfriend in Miami heard me play it on YT, she called me saying she loved me. :-) (What music can do, eh?) Bach? - Dowland?... I love them both. And when I hear you play Dowland this beautifully, I prefer his music... until I hear you play Bach! 🙂Tack min vän! En djup upplevelse! Sköt om dig! Peo 🎸
This is superb. I was working in a record store 4 decades ago when your renditions of some Bach pieces on Deutsche Grammophon found my ears and became favorites that remain so to this day.
Göran Söllscher, playing what appears to be a guitar with a Lute's neck, plays John Dowland's "Flow my Tears" with grace and exceptional musicality. Hats off, Göran Söllscher!
Now I really miss the Greensleeves album......my CD disintegrated a few years back, and I couldn't get it replaced as that CD is really difficult to get. Glad to hear this piece. Thank you very much Mr Sollscher.
Sempre Dowland, sempre dolens. Thank you John Dowland for leavin us such lovely pieces of music in between your bouts of depression. Thank you Goren for your lovely playing and thanks to Julian Bream for alerting us to this repertoire.
Beautiful! Well done Sir! Thank you for sharing your gift with us! Until next time, I wish health and happiness to you and your family! Have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you for your art, for your excellent reading of this Dowland's score and for showing us the true way of playing so cleanly and respectful. I've listened to you since I was a teenager (now 57) and you were one of the main reasons why I stopped playing Flamenco to focus on Early Music. Thank you from Spain, Goran.
Staggeringly beautiful, what a gift you have for such sublime playing. The way you separate the voices in the pieces you play brings the music alive. You always make the pieces you play sing so freely. Your technique is near flawless. I am in awe of your abilities.
Exquisitely played! Bravo! And very much a tune in the melancholy spirit of much of John Dowland’s repertoire. Thanks for the superb performance, dear Goran.
Beautiful sound … I also like the perfect pauses in/between the musical phrases. Perfect rendition of a timeless composition. My ovation to the Master .👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hace muchos años conocí esta obra por usted maestro, en ese momento decidí incluirla en mi programa del conservatorio. Es un placer poder escucharla de nuevo en un video. Muchas gracias
I wouldn't say it's just talent. It's probably just hard work and dedication. Göran has practiced a few hours each day since he was 6. Let's say it was 2 hours each day. Multiply that by 365, and then you have 730 hours each year. Goran is 66, and we subtract 6 from 66 and we have 60 years. Multiply that by 730, and we have 43800 hours of just practice. This is just an approximation, but you get the idea. There are 1825 days in 43800 hours, and 5 years of 1825. So that means that Göran has 5 years of just practice time. It's insane.
Bravo! It's wonderful to listen to your music. I look at your fingers and am fascinated by your sovereign technique. Thank you for this pleasure. Günter
One of my favorite recordings of all time, your playing is so heartfelt it inspired me to learn it (with the accompanying galliard!), thanks forever, Mr. Sollscher.
Göran: Absolutely beautiful! Can really feel the spirits of the time! Lovely phrasing! This is also on of my favorite pieces of Dowland. Is uploaded on my channel to. Big thanks for five minutes of pure pleasure! Trevlig söndag! //Tobias
I have discovered your videos quite recently and you resemble my guitar teacher whose lessons I used to take back in the day. Outstanding playing, sir, thank you for sharing and keeping our beautiful trade alive. Fellow guitarist, 20y.
This is gorgeous. One of the most beautiful tunes ever composed. Perfection on 11 strings. BTW is it possible to get a transcription of the solo piece from the William Lawes duet which you recently posted?
Your art has been had a profound effect of my view of preclassical guitar performance since your first recording on the Bolin guitar was released in the late 70's. Your DG Bach recording (early 80's) is a point of reference in the history of recordings of Bach's lute music. I still have the "Werke für Solo-Instrumente" DG volume release in like-new condition. Is this the same guitar? Your beautiful tone on this instrument hasn't changed. THANK YOU.

One of my favorite composers. This is perfect for guitar. It delivers the intimacy of this piece and transports one into centuries past. Beautiful.

Excellent maestro. Perhaps the most moving piece by Dowland, I see it as a perfect combination of the Renaissance and the Baroque era. Thanks.

Semper Dowland semper dolens...
🎶
How ancient is this song?
I swear to god I have listened to 10 seconds of it speed up on some pop song from the 90's.
More than 400 years old
Y las cuatro cuerdas más graves?!!
🎶
🙏
Have you tuned in 432 Hz? As it was?
Usually I tune this guitar around 428 - I sounds well there. But this time I looked for a deeper sound.
My 6:str guitar is usually in 440-442 Hz 🎵
Recent days i hear Canto LXXXI by Ezra Pound, which, among many others, has Dowland in it. Can be find on yt. Nice to see him here.
What does that A 415 mean?
Thanks 😊
A415 means that I tuned the guitar a semi tone lower.
To get a deeper sound.
@@goransollscher1730 Thanks? How about Robert Johnson's Almain? And dont forget Barrios's Oracion para todos :v
