I love this performance. They went all out on it. Avi and Kevin just took it to another level with bass and percussion. The vocals were amazing. Just five people hitting you with a wall of sound.
And the gloves are off! The competition was always tight, but PTX consistently at the top, was the group to beat and they never let up. This song, and numbers 10 and 12, sealed their win. So...hurry, hurry, hurry! After viewing these shows dozens of times, I *still* get excited to witness reactors respond to these kids making their dreams come true!
I absolutely love the expression on your face during each of the surprise bits in their performance - they use the lack of sound to very good use! I could see your mind being blown and then your sudden smile after the surprise subsided. They are amazing in this one! I think this is one of their strongest performances over this whole series!
Now you know why I said it was one of my favorites! When you see the booths on the side of the stage full of people, those are the other groups in the competition, and you can see that they have 10 or 15 or 18 people in those groups. It was scary hearing that Kirstie was sick, but she sounded great. Later, there was a performance, I think it was #12, where Scott didn't think he had any voice left, and it was one of his best performances. Oh to be young, and have all that reserve power and energy! Thanks for the great reaction - looking forward to the next one!
My Mom forcing me to watch PTX on The Sing-Off for one song led to me watching every episode of the show aired for their whole season and ever since. I'm still sad it didn't last longer. I'm not super into most singing competition shows, but this show didn't have any groups that weren't incredibly talented, and the judges were always so kind, but also had wonderful constructive criticism and really knew what they were talking about. You should listen to some other performances from the other groups. The Dartmouth Aires were another excellent group, and their performance of Pinball Wizard will always be one of my favorites. I also really enjoyed the older barbershop type group singing Bruno Mars' Lazy Song. Thanks for getting me to relive this whole season again.
I used to love how Avi blushes and gets embarrassed when he is praised lol....Avi and Kevin shared an apartment and really got to 'hone their skills' They also wrote a few songs together...my fav was "Run To You" Avi also did the most beautiful arrangement of 'Silent Night' You must check that one out too.
I watch so many reactors to Pentatonix, and other performers. When you said you just learned about "heavy metal thunder", I said to myself "damn, I'm old!" LOL That song was a hit when I was in high school! Love your reactions!!
Awww meat and potato in all their glorious sounds. I love love love this performance. Buckle up cuz 10 and 12 are gonna blow your mind. Be sure to listen for Avi's overtones in the beginning of song 12....c'est bon!
Your face while watching this Pentatonix "Born To Be Wild" performance was priceless. I love your reactions. Thank you for brightening up my days so often. Pentatonix was incredible. They sounded like many more than 5 people. They were amazing back then and they are even more amazing now.
PTX was scheduled to do this performance at the beginning of the night and was last on the second performance for the end of the show. Plus their second performance was much calmer. Couldn’t hurt with Kirstie sick!
@@SaeedReacts. Don't forget to do the final performance in the series, then the one where PTX returns as guest on season 4 and then Superfruit reacting to PTX on the Sing Off - beyond fun!!
OK, I told you I wasn't going to give you any spoilers and wouldn't tell ahead of time which PTX Sing-Off performances are the best, in my opinion. But now I can tell you that THIS one is my #2 choice of them all! We've already passed my #4, which was "Love Lockdown." Numbers 5, 3, and 1 are yet to come. This one--"Born to Be Wild"--was the first Sing-Off performance that I stumbled upon, and I watched it over and over for days. Kevin was the star, with his guns and revving and leaping and dramatic pauses, and Avi kept up that steady droning beat so powerfully and accurately--that can't be easy! I loved hearing the judges praise them both. However, I felt a little bad for the trio. Scott's lead was stellar, as always. And if you isolate Kirstie and Mitch's contributions, you realize that they're the band! They provided all the backup vocals AND all of the instruments other than percussion and bass. That "full" sound that everyone talks about came from Mitch and Kirstie! Great arrangement, incredible performance. Saeed, it was a joy to watch your facial expressions! Thank you for the treat!
I’ve seen this Sing Off series so many times, and it still never gets old 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯. Thanks for taking us on your journey through this, Saeed! So much fun 💜
One of the bests among the series. Who needs drums and bass and lead guitars? The arrangement is genius. I think Ben Bram who was an arranger for The Sing Off recognized early on the talents of these five people. Yup, Kevin and Avi carried this, oh all of them actually coz with just five voices, each part would indeed have a significant contribution. I'm glad you enjoyed this. Hey how was south of France and Spain?
Incredible performance! Vacation is in the beginning of July. But i am recording as a few video's ahead, so there will still be uploads while i am away.
Hi Saeed, if you haven't checked out Swedish metal singer Tommy Johansson, I highly suggest you do so. Please try his version of She's Gone (Steelheart). He has a fantastic voice! Greetings from Germany 🙋🏻♀️
Good response, but - maybe I'm annoying you - there's a live performance by Courtney worth watching (semi-final on AGT 2018 - she'd just turned 14 and was sickly). They prefer to overlook the vicious commentary by a mediocre singer (Mel B.). Best regards from a Courtney fan from Germany

Epic performance! Such a full sound for only 5 people. Incredible.

You should watch their video for Thrift Shop (Mackelmore ). You’ll see Kirstie’s jacket from this episode! Plus, it’s really good 😃
I have a reaction to that video on the channel. So good!

My older brother bought the record this song was on. I heard it at 11-12 yo
Its bound to happen to all of us 😅 (if we are lucky)
Thanks so much for watching.

Such a great performance! They started at an incredible level and kept growing. Thanks so much for watching and have a wonderful day.
I'm STOKED that you're watching these performances, they're INCREDIBLE in the sing off
What a fun journey! Thanks for joining me!
Their talent is amazing and even in those days it absolutely shows. Geniuses at arrangements. Enjoy your reactions Saeed. Greetings from South Africa
Always great fun with Pentatonix. Thanks so much for watching. Greetings from Belgium.
Makes my night seeing your PTX reactions. Thank you. ❤
Thanks so much for being here! Have a wonderful day.
Love this!!! Can't wait for you to do #10 and 12!!!!
Looking forward to those!

Thank you for going back to the beginning! For all of the Pentaholics out here! We appreciate their beginning! Thanks for honoring it. ❤
I am truly enjoying it. Grateful you are here with me.
Hello Saeed. More PTX Sing Off. Really enjoying re-watching these with your reactions. Thank you!
Hello Meg! Thanks so much for watching these with me!

Thanks so much for watching.

So much fun watching these! Thanks so much for being here.
Love this performance!
Loved how you were so mesmerized!

They just get better and better...
Kevin was in premed at Harvard. And Mitch was finishing up high school.
At Yale, but just as impressive.
Thanks Saeed, crazy good, eh? KO killed it. The way they suspended the music a couple of times really added to this arrangement. 💪🏻💪🏻☮
Awesome performance! A wall of sound. Thanks so much for watching.
This song was from the movie " Born to be Wild". It's worth checking out. Love your reactions. Love 😍 from Oklahoma.
Actually, the movie is "Easy Rider". Some say the movie was the first Music Video. 🖖❤
I saw that film years ago when i was going down the Dennis Hopper rabbit hole.
Thanks for watching!
I think the movie was Easy Rider per Shawn's comment
Classic film!

I have not yet, but definitely want to. Will add him to my list. He might be on it already, not sure.

Definitely will check out more of Courney!
Great, but not as good as the original. I knew Steppenwolf when they were The Sparrow in Yorkville in Toronto in the 60's.
Umm...No! This is the worst Ive ever heard PTX sound! Now officially my least favorite group out of 5.
I enjoyed it and this is early days too
