After buying and playing through the Xbox store version I was surprised how easy the game was. Found it hard as a kid. I was really worried I had a lessened experience but seems the version on the Xbox store is the original. Loved the game. Honestly, this is a damn good game. Now I’m off to watch your speed run... I’ll have to finally play Blinx 2 over Xmas
The faster loading times are really nice compared to playing on the original Xbox. A bit of frame drops in some areas on Xbox one but that gets fixed with Xbox one x and above with hardware upgrades. I’ve always asked myself if I only liked this game due to nostalgia, maybe it’s slightly true, but I definitely believe that this game is quite good to this day. I’m glad that other people can still enjoy it too.

I even replayed most levels to get all cat medals as I enjoyed it so much. I think Blinx was meant to be Microsoft’s mascot on original Xbox release and it’s a shame he fell flat. The biggest reason has got to be the difficulty. Many great games have had poor receptions due to ‘being too haaaarrd’ The game has a few issues sure. For me it was the seemingly random auto-targeting on occasions and Blinx sometimes belly flops in mid-air high jumps. Sometimes having to restart a stage due to not having the required power up....but I can look past that for the rest of this brilliant game. Oh and yeah, those silly cosmetics are waaaay too expensive. I got all the medals but nah, I’m not going to grind to buy that special sweeper much as I want it. I do have one of those Dyson cordless models...and I have a cat too. You know what I’m thinking...🥴

That's actually a great idea lol Now that I'm older, i really appreciate the slightly higher difficulty of the original but don't feel like grinding on bosses for Gold just to buy one outfit :P

When I put the disc in, I was surprised it actually installed the platinum hits version (checked the first store; the red hoodie was 1000G instead of being impossible to ever buy). However, my original version save data didn't transfer between the versions, but I guess they are different games by some means. So for anyone interested in all this, I guess playing the Platinum Hits is possible on a modern platform, but maybe you have to get lucky with whatever version Microsoft lets you download.
I've been playing through this game this year to celebrate the game's 20th anniversary, and I should have had the hindsight to look up the changes between the original and Platinum Hits sooner, because since I'm playing the original black label version, I'm kind of handicapping myself to an extent. And frustrated, let's not forget frustrated, which is something I hate to say, because Blinx was the one game I wanted the most in my childhood (but never got until many years later), and I don't like how the game is doing so much to upset me.

If you aren’t in Japan then yes. If you change your region and language to Japanese and then search up Blinx in the store, you’ll be able to download a seperate version which is 99% platinum hits.
So the Bright Set and and the TS-7X or whatever its called are still 30000 G and 90000 G in the Momentopolis Shop on Platnium Hits? Guess they couldn't nerf everything :P

Blinx does it by himself when he holds his sweeper out and is close to an enemy or object he can sweep. You can press the Y button to take the sweeper off his back. I think he has to have the sweeper out first to do the animation

If you want to play blinx, you’ll need an Xbox console, you can purchase the digital version on the Microsoft store for all Xbox’s except for the original Xbox. You can also play on the xemu if you have a pc. And there are cheap copies on eBay. If you’re asking whether you should play this, I’d recommend you give this a try

I didn't even know there were differences between two versions of the game until I stumbled across this video in my suggestions.
Most platinum/greatest hits releases had changes. It was like modern patches but you had to buy the game again to get the patches.

They did that with the greatest hits version of of Devil May Cry 3. Apparently, the original version was too hard. 😂
Since the game was released as retro compatible for the Xbox ONE, was a *Instant buy* and oh boy, those memories from 2002 came back.
It’s definitely worth the buy and it stands pretty well against the OG Xbox in terms performance.

Hardware reasons basically. If you have an Xbox one x or higher, you won’t have any frame drops which is nice
