I’m from Mexico and woke up feeling like crap reading the news of all the shit that happens on the north of my country. I never imagined that a video about a game from my childhood would be what ended up cheering me up.
Blinx is definitely a game that's easier to appreciate in retrospect. It's a bit messy but there's a lot of novel mechanics here that facilitate speedrunning.
yeah for sure, i feel that way about a bunch of old games. like when theres not the same expectations of something being a new full price release you can nlook at it super different and appreciate it for what it is
5:30 that jump is only for the mole-time monster, but I mean, you really only use it accidentally... It is really hard, but once you get the hang of the time controls and realize how much freedom you have in the game, it makes you feel so good. Also, the music of this game is the best. I've been playing the game since 2004 and only hope it will get added to steam too some day.
This video is so well done. You go into so much about the game that I never even knew. It sucks because a lot of the fun of discovery was hearing about all the cool stuff other kids discovered in their games, but I didn't know any other kid who was playing Blinx.
I really liked this weird game as a kid. It’s too bad that Microsoft doesn’t care about a lot of their old IPs. It would be great if we got a remastered bundle of 1 and 2 that has quality of life improvements, improvements to the gameplay, and some other things. I really like how you can abuse the jank, but certain things are objectively bad. I was shocked when I learned that Blix has a speed running community (same goes for Battle for Bikini Bottom. I’m glad that got a remake and a sequel). It’s crazy how passionate about these different things people are. Good video!
Man, if I had a nickel for every time that Naoto Ohshima designed an animal mascot who gets a bad rep nowadays and whose gameplay allows for fun and unique time trial experiences
Loved the video, and always loved how much detail was put into blinx. This game gives you so much freedom to complete levels the way you want. The only thing that holds you back is the power of jank
Wow, I knew about this game vaguely but I had no idea it was where that shop theme came from! I swear I've heard that a bunch of times around the internet before. Cool vid!
You know I think the US/EU box art being so unnecessarly aggresive in it's look in comparison to the Japanese box is pure representation of the how much the Edgy era of 3d platfromers took over those games from that time period, and the thing I think that led into the actual mature stuff console makers made later in the next gen as Nintendo basically dominated the casuals and familys with the WII compared to the 360 and PS3.
You know, I would love to see what could be possible if Microsoft made an official Blinx manga/anime series. Imagine how they could flesh out the story of the 2 games into a cohesive story that gradually builds up to the final battle. That would be awesome, especially since I would love to see more interactions between the different characters, both main and side. And to make things better, they could get Oshima to be the main art director and japanese voice actor for Blinx again! Oh my gosh, that would be the dream!!!
I had very few games for og Xbox cause I only had it for a bit (my brother swapped the working one he gave me with his friends red ring Xbox that would shut off after 30 mins cause of overheating) I had the Shrek smash-like game, blinx and grabbed by the ghoulies(did not get to play) and I loved that there was just a cat game, I didn't understand how to play it, but I found it so intriguing.
I now just realized that In my younger days.. when I would collect coins or tokens... I would never have bought items because I didn't know how item shops worked and then I would practically nearly beat the game without upgrades or anything. Until now I would've probably had almost a billion points or so stacked up until I can't buy anything any more.😅
If im gonna have a kid in this lifetime, i'm going to actually take the M rating seriously and not even allow FPS in my household (lets just say i didn't have the nicest classmates growing up).
@@yoppimedia you may be talking about the mission where you have to progress through the canyon like area to set the c4 on a bridge. yea, desert storm is super super fun and worth looking at when it comes to innovation of strategy and the fact it was coop made it extra fun
Great vid! It just goes to show that Microsoft is stupid for not making another blinx game. Or another 3d platformer for that matter! Like the bought rareware games, and basically did jack all with Banjo and Kazooie!
Wait people hate it? Most reviews I've seen of this game are for the most part positive, it just that most people complain about the insane difficulty spike halfway through the game!
This series is a gem and I'm sad Microsoft never brought it back cause there's a lot you could still wring out of this kind of game play.
im still pissed blinx wasn't in kinectimals
I mean Blinx 2: Masters of Time and Space exists
Blinx 2 sucks ass
What even happened to the rights of this thing. The orgibak developers is kinda gone now.

Esta cabron pero ánimo!! Es lo que es y no te enojes por las cosas tú no puedes controlar. Vive tu vida y échale ganas gallo
I remember playing this on my family’s Original Xbox when I was a toddler back in 2002. This and Blinx 2 are so underrated it hurts
It would've been very cool if this game had a mode where you could create your own levels and put whatever monsters you want around each level
yesssss

Great video! This game came out when I was nine and I loved it! Didn’t even know about that awesome Blinx Merch!

23:39 i actually beat the later worlds with no super bombs actually....Which sucked.

love to see u and other speedrunners pushin cool old games forward, makes for some of my fave runs to watch

it's some absurdly good elevator music lol

the potential was def there, blinx coulda been so much more
YOOOOO, i have Conflict: Desert Storm lol. I thought it was cool that i could listen to the downloaded music on the XBOX in-game lol
I really love this series. I really wish they would bring it back.
this is one of the first games from my childhood too, I feel like its sooooo obscure. Fusion frenzy as well that game was sick.
There's a fan site for Blinx? Wish i knew that sooner, thanks for the info man.
Ive asked a bunch of people if they remember this game and a decent amount of people are like oh yeah i remember that game

shrexbox had the best cat games, like, what did the other consoles even have? cat in the hat on ps2? come on

Blinx 2 masters of time and space exists.
I love this game, glad I found this gem of a video :)
fantastic video
Sometimes I wonder if there's a way to buy the rights to the games and remake both games.
To anyone who sees this: there's an awesome fan made HD remaster happening! Go find it!
Great video. I love this game and wish they’d remake it or make a PC port
Wish they’d make another :(
im texting bill gates and the rock now to make it happen, don't worry
Yo dude if you should play my blinx 3 fan game I made
I mastered the backflip and is really useful to kill sand ducks
the great backflip debate rages on lol. for real though i can see how thats useful, but personally the inconsistency made it hard to use intentionally
I see that you, too, have mastered the art of the Blinx-Backflip/Sideflip
Still such a banger game, have you played the sequel?
Do a blinx 2 video pls
"meow"
Sonic Superstars battle mode has the same cosmetic system as Blinx. weirdly
A goat game on the xbox along with JSRF
hey just wondering what's the game you mention at 13:14? sounds like 'ritz games' but i dont think thats it aha
oh lol i prob shouldbe specified thats blazing dynamo a game by the developer named rittz
If im gonna have a kid in this lifetime, i'm going to actually take the M rating seriously and not even allow FPS in my household (lets just say i didn't have the nicest classmates growing up).
conflict desert storm was the shit
lol is it really? i barely remember it besides this one mission where you plant C4, and that where i learned what C4 was as a kid lol
