Cliff Burton had a ton of influence in this album. Kill 'Em All is good, but it's more raw. Ride the Lightning has more.. elegance, in a way. It's richer.
I still remember learning this song with my guitar teacher some 18 years ago... it was the first song I asked for and playing that intro felt like magic
One of the greatest songs of all time, taught by my favorite teacher! What a lesson, never thought you would do this one. So that I'm excited is an undestatment. Absolutely love it Justin!
All the 80s thrash metal bands where pushing the limits to play faster than ever before. This song off of the ride the lightning album was really an anomaly for the new genre at the time. Great song!
Yes.... Justin you are my hero !!!! 47 years old and finally I learn this song. Thank you so much for your lessons I have a smile on my face during these difficult times. Be safe :)
I started immediately to nod my head along your playing... also one of my favorite songs... and now someone's showing me how to play it. Thank you so much :)
A must learn for ANYBODY I remember back in the early 80's thinking this is music the whole world should hear and appreciate then sure enough they took over the musical universe. I got to tweak a few notes that made a difference, awesome lesson.
omg I've just signed up to your website learning the basics and the 5 blues licks...I was playing some Metallica now and I just thought what the hell is the strumming pattern in the heavy parts of fade to black.. searched RUclips and Justin popped up!! You're the best guitarteacher on the web sir. I'll make a donation on your website cheers from Holland!
It just dawned on me how long I've been learning from this channel. I mean, i remember the Jedi Master days. It blows my mind that it's been 14ish years already. I came to this video mostly to check it vs how i play this song since it's one of my favourites and on most my regularly played, and I'm getting on an acoustic kick lately. Just wanted to say thanks for doing this, you're easily one of the best online teachers. You've really helped to round out my skillset over the years.
Have you visited the website lately? It has undergone massive improvements and transformations in recent times. Cheers 😊 | close2u | JustinGuitar Official Guide [ www.justinguitar.com/ ] & Moderator on JustinGuitar Forum
Honestly thats an awsome lesson man. This song is one of the reasons I bothered myself starting to learn guitar at the age of 30. I m starting practising this right away
Metallica is proof of a natural ability to write iconic and interesting songs without years of theory, lessons and practice. It's very rare but raw talent and feeling for songwriting is what this song is all about , with solid picking skills to make it sound great. To Live Is To Die is another brilliant example of this. I'd love to see you teach us all that one. Great video as usual Justin cheers mate !
This video is fantastic. I first found you when looking how to play sweet child o mine, and have been watching ever since. The way you talk teach is brilliant. Keep up the amazing work man!
My favorite song and guitar teacher, ever! Thanks for all your incredibly detailed and accurate tutorials. I'm starting your course this week. Love from Ecuador!
Thank you for this. You are such a great teacher. And this song is I love the most. I would like to learn it but at the moment I just love to watch this video on repeat.❤

Great lesson. I've been piecing this together for awhile now since I started learning. Just started with outro solo. This is the best lesson I have seen so far.
Hugely influential for me as well Justin! I’ll always remember my days working on that fast lick in the intro solo, was so awesome when I finally got it down!
Probably the most complete and focused Metallica lesson I’ve seen, great job man. My vote would be for anything from Garage Days, specifically their version of Green Hell. Thanks man!!
It is interesting to see how many people started guitar because of this song :). Count me in too. First thing I tried to learn to play was Fade to Black’s intro.

Bloody hell!!! There’s no denying that the members of Metallica are musical geniuses
Yep!
Cliff Burton had a ton of influence in this album. Kill 'Em All is good, but it's more raw. Ride the Lightning has more.. elegance, in a way. It's richer.
This is the new classic rock...80s metal. Those albums are timeless and should be studied like Beethovin and Bach.
The fact that we’re writing this at such a young age makes it even more amazing ❤
@@burieddreamer a lot of riffs are from cliff on ride same with master and maybe 1 on injustice i think
I still remember learning this song with my guitar teacher some 18 years ago... it was the first song I asked for and playing that intro felt like magic
I grew up on your stuff, and I’m still here. The beautiful sound, the honest personality and the insane accuracy of anything you’ve taught. Thank you.
