One of metallicas greatest songs unbelievable
I'd loved that idea..
My Husband always liked this song. Rip. M.J.
Im sorry for your loss. He had great taste in music.
My deepest condolences, I am sorry for your loss, at least you will always have this beautiful memory of her, it will be forever and always, the song is a legend and she is part of it, good luck in everything!
I'm so sorry, I hope he's resting in peace ☮️🕊️

5:46 love Kirk’s smile when he sees the audience vocalizing to the guitar. Such a beautiful moment
🎉🎉ф😊
it's so beautiful

TheHoot7 hahaha good choice...
TheHoot7 same here I love this song
ill will kill myself with this.
Pacifista PX-0 damn bro why u gotta talk like that? Why so down?
This track is a farewell to this life. masterpiece!.
Anybody with depression can relate and fully appreciate this song. When I am feeling really depressed I somehow find my way to this some and it makes me feel better. Thank you Metallica for this kick ass song. The acoustical beginning is so damn powerful.
Nathan, Good to hear stay strong mate.
Stay strong brother! There's loads of us out there. Sending positive vibes!
meh not depressed it’s just a good song :P
Stay strong, mate.
Totally get it. It's absolutely beautiful.

Holy fuck; Lars and Kirk have been practicing
Davey S yeah i noticed. this sounds great
Davey S lol I was thinking the same thing this is actually a great performance
Also, time for Kirk to switch to Les Paul's. He sounds so much better on that rig, his vibrato was even pretty good. wtf
WTF who arre you guys to judge Lars and kirk xD ?
Sit the fuck down, fam. Lars and Kirk are obviously skilled musicians, but they are notoriously sloppy live performers on account of not practicing.
Kirk's guitar is so damn beautiful...
flawless
he's a fucking god
Yes he is
Bane Nyndovaas and his playing too❤❤❤
It's a Les Paul
I'm 52 years old now, A life long fan!
I remember listening to this so many times in my 1985 Z-28 on a top of the line cassette in my old Pioneer Super Tuner, heading to the Monsters of Rock,
"I think it was the summer of 1988"
to see them at a place called Foxboro stadium, near Boston Ma.
Saw them on the same tour except Giant stadium. Great tour, the only bad band was Kingdom Come. The scorpions were great and Van Halen kicked ass.
@@davidbaglione5232 Trippin on shrooms I sat down way up in the nose bleed seats it was such a clear bright sunny day when it started I remember thinking I wonder if airplanes pass and over can hear this if they have their windows down as soon as I sat down a hacky sack landed right next to me considering the fact nobody was near me I can't help but wonder how that hacky sack got there.
thats it rite there !!!!i had 85 Camero!!!! and pioneer , priceless
Epic 🎸🎸🎸
Você tem muita sorte de ter vivido nessa época!
James voice definitely fits this song better in his older age
It is because he is much better as a vocalist now.
Because life it seems faded away?
@@richardkranium2944 goddamit you're right :)
Chills when he sings
I agree 🤝
Can't describe how much I love METALLICA
You just did.

lazyjimmy123 I saw them yesterday in Seoul :)
Alexey Polev Hopefully they come to the UK in their current tour. I couldn't go to the house of vans show unfortunately. 😐😐
I love how Kirk isn’t a drug addict or alcoholic but a wah addict or wahcoholic
they were alla alcoholics back in the day ahaha
Kirk WAS a coke addict...
Like collet said there were inown as acholica
Сам понял, что сказал?
And a family man. 👍🏽
i love how he started with call of Ktuhulu

Fade to Ktulu
"The Call To Fade"
fading to ktulu
The fade of Ktuhulu
*Fade to black coming to an end*
Kirk: *WAH WAH time*!!
As much as I love Kirk, it fucked the solo up. Not like it was bad, but still could have been better.
Who in their right mind could possibly dislike this masterpiece???
This song is indeed a masterpiece.
A megadeth fan
Dave Mustaine and a couple thousand of his sock puppets.
Probably people that hate metal.
BTS fans probably
Lars's double bass at the end actually sounds really good!
and his fills are good too. No more unnecessary fills!
Probosquadhenry he stopped being shit ever since the writing of the new album
probably saw how shitty his fills and timing was when trying to record the album and fixed it
yes..Lars is seriously playing like well like before now days
Probosquadhenry it makes me happy when lars can drum like he use to why could he not do this earlier but anyhow lars is playing good
When Kirk started playing, I got emotional. Wiping tears away.
Me too ha ha ha
Have you stop crying?
i thought i was the only one. lol but whyyyyyy

Life, it seems, will fade away
Drifting further, every day
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters, no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free
Things not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly loss, this can't be real
I cannot stand this hell I feel
Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness, taking dawn
I was me, but now he's gone
No one but me
Can save myself
But it's too late
Now I can't think
Think why I should even try
Yesterday seems as though
It never existed
Death greets me warm
Now I will just say goodbye
Bye...
These guys have the coolest jobs. Imagine a life where you get to stand around playing Metallica songs for a living. Not bad. Not bad at all.
HAHAHA. Sweet.

Kirk has been sounding fucking great lately!!!!!!!! His playing AND his lead guitar tone!!! Great job on this song fellas!
it is because he has quit drinking
Mohd Saifuddin I highly doubt that's the reason
Fonzy Brookestone On the London gig he actually played really bad his solos
He has his good/bad days
Alfonso Martinez Ah, was that the one where he totally wrecked the solo in Orion? Or one of those songs? Off night, ha.
Classic Les Paul sustain. :D
I love when Kirk looks up to them all singing his riff and he smiles 5:47
Cliff actually wrote that harmony section
When I see people singing along to what I'm playing, I smile too.
@@malpacamusic_1007 Even more reason for him to be smiling.

One of the best performance of Fade To Black.
I would like to add Bologna, Italy 2018 and Lincoln,Nebraska, also in 2018, to that list.
The genuine look on kirks face when the crowd sings along with the guitars
That was priceless
this is just plain badass.
omg it's soup. didnt expect to find u hear mate
Soup hello you gay
Soup I KNOW,FUCK YEAH.
Amazing
Hello
This is probably the best performance of this song since the 80's
since moscow 1991.
Kirk Hammit is the most underrated guitarist of all time!
My younger brother introduced me to Metallica.
Thanks for that Jim
RIP Big man.
Kirk is killing it!!!
Dan Moscato people give him such a tough time for being sloppy on the occasional time but he is a quality guitarist
+Ben Champion i love Kirk, i grew with his licks but we must be honest that he is not really great, he has a unique vibe but he is very limited. The best work he ever did was in the black album because bob rock couldn't stand his sloppiness and made him work his ass off. Watch a year in the life
The Cantrell Project I have seen it, a big fan I grew up listen to metallica, I am 14 though
Dude, his intonnation is terrible!. I love metallica, but I can't stand most of ther live stuff because of this, I really cringe at bad intonnation, and Kirk misses the pitch 90% of the time, some times pretty badly.
:)
The first solo alone is better than most of the artists nowadays
All of the artists***
If anyone can get me the tone which kirk uses for my code 25, I owe you everything!
Rafid Ahmed artists nowadays cant even play that lol
The first note alone is better than most music nowadays.
Even title is better
This show was my first Metallica concert, and I’ll never forget the 4 and a half hour drive there and back just to see it ❤️
YOU KNOW THIS IS THE BEST SONG TO GET A CONCERT OUT OF 7..
FOR REAL.
FOR REAL.
PEACE AND ROCK AND ROLL.
This concert was in support of a wonderful charity here in Toronto, The Daily Bread Food Bank. Despite being in the middle of a world tour, they kindly dropped in on our city to play for free, giving all proceeds to help folks in need. They didn't even mention this in the video description! Thank you Metallica, you are a true class act!!
Wow that is just awesome of them!, and to top it off they seemed inspired and sounded great!! - Long live Metallica!
Fabulous and such a great performance! 😁
They really do give back and it's awesome 💗
Great memories
Amazing! My favorite Metallica song!
absolutely best song ever
i grew up with metallica since i was 6 yo, now i'm almost 18 and listening to them is like a comforting and heartwarming hug. They will always shine bright
Very good bro, you have the best taste of music 👍
Kirk's the only one who looks so handsome while playing guitar
I love his style!!
I'd argue James is better looking while playing
The Intro is the call of ktulu
Master of Guitar thank you!!!!! I couldn’t put my finger on it but damn if it wasn’t familiar.
Good
No shit
Sounds like they are playing through a pillow.
same album
3:15 I love this part
I don't know why this kinda reminds me of To Live is to Die
Same
For me, the best song of Metallica.
Simply amazing how swiftly flawless James switches from acoustic to electric and back. Without missing the beat or a note. That's how good these guys are.
30 years of doing it.. he can close his eyes and nailed it..
They played so good. James did the intro fantastically, Kirk did the solo with no mistake, Lars with his drumming and especially his footwork during the double bass part were very good and audible, and for last Rob was excellent, as usual. You still rock! \m/
Metallica brought me into making music and is still a source of limitless inspiration to me these days
👏👏👏👏. hope your music will be successful
If I could give eternal life to two people, one if them would be James so we could have concerts like this foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!
Always love the solo of this song.. Invokes all kind of feels...
Except when he uses the Cry Wah
Having bipolar depression , I have a love/hate relationship with this song.
Although it always HURTS to listen to this , I will never turn it. If nothing else , it shows me I am not alone. Even though I am lonely .
This is METALLICA....
This one song is better than their past 3 albums put together. But I still love them...Old Metallica was the soundtrack of my youth !
🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Do you have this love/hate relationship for any other stuff in life?
Hi Steve. Take care.Bipolar depression is very dangerous disorder.
Please , don't listen this kind of songs when you are in the dark side of bipolar depression.
In my case I love many songs from new stuff, because they changed I changed too, it’s impossible don’t change in 40 years …
@@AnibalAvelar people crapped on them when they did progress as a band. They've absolutely made some great music since MOP - But another band I really like NOW [ Green Day ] was crappy in their early years ( IMO ) and became better. Really because they added an additional guitar player !
[ they're REALLY not a 3 man act anymore ! ]
You're crazy
James is an amazing song writer and musician, this is one of his greatest and Kirk always shines on it. Hands down the best live version! You can really tell this is one of their favorites to play!
This is good but watch them play this live in 1993 Mexico City live binge and purge
Man the intro solo makes me wanna cry everytime
I just can't believe the sound difference at this theater compared to other places. Sounds soooo bold and sweet!
Its an old victorian opera house, the acoustics are amazing. surprised how good the sound transfers on film
Damn, this was fucking amazing. Wish I'd been there.
Me too....😢

I love Metallica and the fact that they can still nail a song like Fade To Black blows my mind! 🤘
One of the most beautiful songs ever
i siting now in North germany and i must cry that song was the favorite song from my mother she is died for 4 days ago she was 54 my world is broken
Chiko Honda Mein herzlichstes Beileid ;(
This song is what I was listening to when my mother died.
I cry everytime at the intro and this 4:34, this part is what keeps me in tears.
Sorry for your loss man! Wishing you well from the USA

The more they hated kirk the more i admire him as a musician..
Why would anyone hate Kirk?
He’s one of the best guitarist

It's so amazing how much passion they still have
Great performance by Lars!!
GuitarRazze and the other three!
GuitarRazze oh hey
Hahahah you're drunk? Lars always tries to solo instead of keeping the tempo, this is terrible. He don't stop to do wrong fills all time
Manoel Ferraz gg
Manoel Ferraz Well
that's not the case here
This was by far the best performance Metallica has ever done. The solos were executed perfectly by Kirk, with an incredible amount of emotion and pain. James Hetfield's vocals sound better than they have in a long time, and Lars isn't doing stupid random fills, and his double bass sounded fantastic. I swear they have gotten much better with age, I can safely say this is probably better than the studio version.
Да,"Металлика",великая,прекрасная,любовь всей жизни,какое это счастье осознавать что я была на их концерте!!!!!!!!!-непревзойденные и Талантливые👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋
Really?? In the first bridge solo's he plays I hear like 5 mistakes by Kirk. Sorry but still am not amazed by him and it only gets worse. Pappa Het is much better

Lars' double bass actually sounds great, Kirk isn't drunk and plays better than he has in years, James' voice sound awesome and I can finally hear that fat bass sound from Rob? I guess Metallica is finally back...
that's because it's been doctored in the studio. Most "live" recordings aren't really live.
actually I take it back. It sounds live. I don't know this doesn't groove as well as they used to back in the day. Disjointed. Sorry...
love the way kirk smile before the solo😀

for real brother.. stay strong
Had this song on repeat right before I got admitted to a psychiatric ward for being actively suicidal after a few years of shit. Oddly, it helped my recovery as it made me think there's beauty in strange places and to never hear this song and millions of others was something I didn't want. 5 weeks later I was out and 10 years later thanks to this song and bucketloads of Venlafaxine I'm still here.

Ive never seen this live version but when i heard the opening acoustic and the crowd going wild i cried from how amazing it sounds. Also because depression is very hard for many people including me so this song imo is the goat of metal songs
I remember hearing this song my whole life, as my mom is an avid Metallica fan. But I never understood it until early high school, when I was severely depressed. I remember just sitting on the back porch in 35 degree autumn morning cold, and just silently weeping. This song represented everything I felt and it was magical to have something tangible to put to the hell I was in. Thank you Metallica, for helping me through my worst days, and making my best days even better.
