This is so much like it's like in so many shops all over the place, struggling to do things with less than perfect tools and equipment and I think that's the appeal to so many people. We can all identify with what's going on, Chad is one of us, not perfect. His videos are not neatly cut removing all the mistakes or normal tedious things so it's just like going to visit that buddy and hangIng out there for a few minutes or even the better part of two hours like this video. Having met Chad I can verify this is him, not altered for the public or adjusted for marketability, he is as giddy as a school boy when he's around cars and incredible protective when it comes to his family. Love the videos.
Monday morning quarterback here; Chad, remove some of the items on the engine for the first TRIAL FIT. They can be placed after you are comfortable with the initial fit-up. No reason to keep the fan, exhaust, and bell housing on. Less possible damage to the car and engine that way. Thanks for sharing!
I have never seen such a dog and poiny show if that was my Bugatti I would load it up and leave Chad ask the owners what to do I have a friend that has a nasty shop just like Chad's you get dirty by just walking inside it ??
I think it should be said that Jolene was a big part of this episode. The wisdom and knowhow between Doug, Chad and Steve gott'r done and it was a treat to watch. Jolene handled that camera and the shot framing like a pro. With the 3 mechanics walking around the project she still managed to be where she needed to be for the shot. Good job all around to all involved. I could tell that because of her inobtrusive camera work it only took a few minutes for the boys to totally forget she was filming...Sometimes that is the most important job of filming.
Chad, I would guess that they want you to put in the saddle to make the frame even stronger than it as is because the Jag motor is so heavy. Those guys are GREAT and they love you. They are very gentle but insistent because they don't want to insult you. They respect you and your talent and are helping you by honoring that. Tony
I have the same engine lift and used to experience the same lack of control on lowering the "boom"....until I had the idea to attach a long bolt to the T valve using two tiny hose clamps and this made a nice lever to control the valve very precisely and allows you to also keep the handle in the jack so you can quickly go up if you need to
Yes, yes, yes...Looks Every bit as perfect in there as I thought it would. Outstanding job Jolene in pushing for the jag motor. This car is going to be the making of you both....As I’m sure you knew it would 😉
Cracking episode guy's. I laughed when Chad told the two guys the joke the looks on their face said it all . One laughed but looked disgusted and then doug i believe said" so this is why they call you mad Chad!!! Not a facial muscle movement at all. Still made me chuckle 💯% 👍🇬🇧.
See how easy bouncing ideas off each other and working together is. YOU DO NOT ALWAYS HAVE TO BE RIGHT a lot of people cannot work like this. AWESOME JOB GUYS.
So I guess you're like Michael Jackson "Bad" cause you seem like a nice guy with an awesome girl. I hate when my jaguar engine falls in my Bugatti. Lol. Great video folks. 👍
Great job Chad, trial and error is the way to go for these custom builds. Not to take anything away from Chad but Jolene is a great videographer. She was right where she needed to be so we could see how the work was done. Congrats to Jolene.
It is already a beauty. I am enjoying the journey and learning new techniques. Jolene was right! The Jag engine is a classy addition and all the primer has made a difference. Great work!! .
when the motor dropped...........eeeks... great build brad and jolene...car is looking amazing...after the primer it looked like a sculpture....beautiful..
Really love the build overall!..a few suggestions from another old hot rod builder..Get a 2" chopped Model A radiator made for a modern v8 swap..Common part in the hot rod world, so its not expensive..plus it'll fit better that the mustang rad and look tons better. Also consider correcting the spines running down the tops of the front fenders, they are splayed out when viewed from the front, making it look a little bowlegged, instead of running vertical like the original car. This car will be great for sure!
I'm really enjoying watching this build. The one think that's bugging me is how you plan to seal the doors . I'm sure you have a plan or will come up with something....just curious. Keep up the good work ! Jolene, you are an amazing woman, we need to hear a little more from you .
When you let that lift jack down too quick my heart fell out of my chest. I can't imagine how you felt Chad. holy shit. That's a nice engine for that car, I think it suites it perfectly. You scored on that one Chad. O man I thought Doug was gone for a loop when he trip over that jack! Thank God, he didn't hurt himself that would've sucked. Good Team U got her done no one's hurt and that motor looks sweet.
Dude who ever is running the camera rocks the flow is perfect. no jitters I mean it made the show that much better. You are sort of an every guy with spice. Very cool. Thanks
Dont forget the holes got to be big enough for the bell housing Dont worry about the body work weve all done it I did the same with an auto box and wrecked the wiring loom
He wouldn’t mess with that fan but I would toss It without a second thought if I needed the room, however I would wire the electric with a temperature switch so it turns on automatically
Its not a bugatti... It's a Frankenstein bat mobile like most of his cars. Shower rod and a shit ton of body filler. Not bashing him if people actually buy this shit, but it's exactly that. Apparently there is a market for everything, but I think it takes away from actual fabricators, metal workers, mechanics, and every other car building professional. I feel sorry for the poor sucker that has to have work done on that car or motor.
I watch the painstakingly effort The Guild spent on the one of a kind Bugatti, as it took years of restoring for some Saudi Prince! Yet yours is looking very close, less the expensive budget, and something that has so much less to worry about if its' driven!! Bravo Chad!!
Chad, cut out a template wit a sheet of cardboard. Cutout a part that fits around and over the bell housing, then from the engine side trace out the pattern you need for how much room for the engine recess .I would go down about 6" from the top of the hood on the firewall just to make sure you leave enough room for the linkage fore your wiper assembly and motor. Width of the recess should be a couple inches wider than the width of the widest part of the rear of the motor. Been following this build from day one, so nice to see it all come together. Congrats.
Much respect Chad...your go better style serves you well...if you can ever slow down when the task requires it you will be an unstoppable force... I am 53 and it took me too long to realize this,...now I have and it's a wonderful thing..lol.
Good choice on the engine as it looks superb and fitted in perfect , great job from the 3 of you ,yeah a tiny bit of damage to the car but it’s ok . Looking forward to the next instalment. Thanks for sharing !!
All watching including Chad and Jolene - Between the two gentlemen and Chad - you are watching 130 years of experience fitting a Jaguar engine to a unique hand built car.......Please note it’s not just mechanical knowledge your watching but how to figure out quickly how to work together - Note the initial awkwardness and as They learn how each work - they begin to blend into a well oiled team with a goal - each having a task without having to communicate every detail - please also note - the gentleman not wanting to break - Why ? He recognized they were beginning to work as a team and becoming efficient - not wanting to break that momentum is a VERY large part of accomplishing a technically difficult task as a team......it’s only when problems arise that a break gives you the chance to mull options......A PRIVILEGED UNIQUE EXPERIENCE FOR ALL. To the average person this would look like 3 guys trying to get a engine to fit in a car. But to me it is a unbelievable amount of knowledge , talent , idea's, and love of a craft in one shop with talent from now and earlier time , that truly lifts my spirit and blows my mind ! The body is looking very slick. Just taking a peek as “sparkle” pans around. Super tight on the motor but that’s what you expected. Looks like the firewall might need a recess to allow room for a radiator. Dropping the motor is just typical. Try and try to be careful and shit happens.
Thats some great fitment! It would look good if you recess the firewall some where the head is though. A little more clearance and the radiator will fit better possibly. Just a idea I had.
Its not even my car but my heart just about jumped out of my chest when the engine hoist dropped quicker than anticipated. Fortunately very little damage, nothing a master craftsman like Chad can fix in a jiffy.
Measure twice, install engine once. This is one very impressive build and the Jaguar engine is the perfect choice. Yes, you can get a custom radiator built to your specs in aluminum and nice and thick. Walker radiators may be a name to check out. You will have to have a motor mount that unbolts from the frame so that you can install and remove the engine.
I just read a month or two ago that Walker was planning on going out of business after 70 or 80 years of being in business. I'm not sure if it happened yet though.
I was surprised there was no discussion of motor mounts and pads. It was always a main concern when I did a conversion. Several folks were discussing what colors you might consider. My vote goes for "Cream-de-menthe" I have seen this color on a "Type 57" and it looks beautiful 😍
As usual very informative… It’s nice to have friends to help you out like that… I was sort of chuckling to myself watching this episode… They sort of reminded me of a kinder gentler Statler and Waldorf! Keep up the good work… Kudos to the camera lady!
Seems like you do things backwards normally you do your drivetrain steering brakes Cooling I just don't get it I've been doing it 40 years I just don't get it
In this case I would put the engine in now and build the rest to fit. steering, brake, cooling, can go next. It is a one of car. but I have only been doing it for 30 years.
@@frankpavia5486 I’ve been doing it for close to fifty years and I’ve never seen anyone build a car like this. I’m surprised that no one was hurt trying to squeeze that motor through a gap that isn’t big enough.
Looks great Chad. Can’t wait for coming progression on this part. And seeing this total package...... AWESOME AND INSPIRING!!!!! Thanks a million for sharing.
I seen many channels and enjoy them , never suscribe to any of them but i just did , the reason being cause i believe you show the troubles and tribulations of building something compared to the others, from scratch, and show the real thing , most of all having this guy’s help you and have the patience behind their experience to do what you have in mind , so awesome, watching this video had me part of it , you got the strength and knowledge, but they still had some ideas to keep it going , growing up we may get lost in technology , and may not have the strength and speed but past experience may become some help,,,i do enjoy your videos Bro , keep up the good work , i be watching you , 👍
I have a question for you... Why didn't you make sure that the engine would fit into the engine bay before you completed the body work and priming it. Seems like a huge oversight to me.
1. Remove bell housing 2. Remove cooling fan/belts. 3. Lift up the rear of car.4. Remove power steering pump. On further thought, why not lift the car body outside on your vehicle lift, then lower the body onto the engine?

Calm down chad and listen to those older gentleman’s wisdom... The best way to gain wisdom is to listen! Motor looks awesome in there!👍🏻👍🏻
I agree.. Doug and Steve have thinking brains working in 3D - listen to them Chad..!
I really wish chad (and most youtubers) would put the guards back on their grinders. Its a terrible example to set.
Pretty sure Chad has done this sort of thing before. Probably ten times more than both of those guys combined.
Thats what I was thinking. He should have layed off the speed for this portion of the project. That or smoke a jay to calm down.
You should know by now that Chad knows all sees all and is a king unto himself. That is why I rarely watch it anymore.

As usual very informative… It’s nice to have friends to help you out like that… I was sort of chuckling to myself watching this episode… They sort of reminded me of a kinder gentler Statler and Waldorf! Keep up the good work… Kudos to the camera lady!
Ps. Invest in a gantry!
Seems like you do things backwards normally you do your drivetrain steering brakes Cooling I just don't get it I've been doing it 40 years I just don't get it
And nearly hurt someone doing it
In this case I would put the engine in now and build the rest to fit. steering, brake, cooling, can go next. It is a one of car. but I have only been doing it for 30 years.
I believe he's just checking clearances through test fitting.
It’s what’s known as the “Bass Akwards” method. Nothing like making hard work for yourself.

I’ve been doing it for close to fifty years and I’ve never seen anyone build a car like this. I’m surprised that no one was hurt trying to squeeze that motor through a gap that isn’t big enough.
Esse deu muito trabalho amigo. Mais vai ficar perfeito. Parabéns.
That heart looks like it belongs in the car .. Looks amazing so far Chad .. Way to go brother🤘😎🤘
Wow that thing is gorgeous all primed up!
Use an open-end quarter inch wrench to turn the valve on the hydraulic jack, and that will help with the dropping
Looks great Chad. Can’t wait for coming progression on this part. And seeing this total package...... AWESOME AND INSPIRING!!!!! Thanks a million for sharing.
Jolene does an outstanding job with the camera. I watch you all the time
you've built some awesome stuff, trial and error! I can't believe you tried that!
I seen many channels and enjoy them , never suscribe to any of them but i just did , the reason being cause i believe you show the troubles and tribulations of building something compared to the others, from scratch, and show the real thing , most of all having this guy’s help you and have the patience behind their experience to do what you have in mind , so awesome, watching this video had me part of it , you got the strength and knowledge, but they still had some ideas to keep it going , growing up we may get lost in technology , and may not have the strength and speed but past experience may become some help,,,i do enjoy your videos Bro , keep up the good work , i be watching you , 👍
Great being with you Brad! Thanks! I'm not too far from you with my being in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. Where are you?
The reason they did not sweat .....its called wisdom , thx looking good
It's getting exciting now! It wont be long before she's purring down the road.
Good choice for an engine. Looks right, feels right.
Really good craftsmanship on that car to take that hit only got a lil dent.
I have a question for you... Why didn't you make sure that the engine would fit into the engine bay before you completed the body work and priming it. Seems like a huge oversight to me.
Awesome Job... I hope to see it cruising around Canning this summer
1. Remove bell housing 2. Remove cooling fan/belts. 3. Lift up the rear of car.4. Remove power steering pump. On further thought, why not lift the car body outside on your vehicle lift, then lower the body onto the engine?
Looks like the rear wheel jack trolley handle is rubbing the wing. Take the rear skates off it'll make the front higher.
