  • This is a slice from the film "Scent of a Woman." Starring Al Pachino and he got a well deserved Oscar for it. In this scene/film he makes you believe he is entirely blind with his eyes wide open.
    Now that's acting.

I'll tell ya this , if you don't appreciate your Abundance. You'll end up alone with loss . Bc you threw it away or gave up on it , didn't know what you had till its gone. "Kurt Russell spoke only 104 words in the entire movie despite being in 85% of the scenes."

Important scene! Frank's reaction here is perfectly logical, he agrees with Randy!, he knows he failed those kids and it is eating him alive everyday. He's not going to beat the shit out of Randy for bringing the truth to the surface because, as rash and as crude as Frank is, he is a man of integrity. He respects and admires a good character and believes in strong men with integrity who want to do good in the world. This is why he defends Charlie so vigilantly and also why he (agrees with Randy) can't forgive himself for ruining the lives of those boys. Up to this point Frank has been a man on the edge just going through the motions, drinking, mocking reality, unwilling to come to terms with what he's done and what it means. Randy brings it to the surface for him and Frank even encourages it. Frank makes the decision to end his life here... He doesn't have the heart to tell Gretchen and the rest of the family (better they don't know). But he lets Willy know, 'bye Willy (..forever, because..) I'm no fuckin good...'
Frank is the man in the dark, both physically and figuratively.

This scene is great. You can see that Frank was clearly hurt by everything he said about him, and even more he's hurt that even though he is blind his family does not care about him to invite him over for during the holidays.
"Goodbye Willy...I'm no fucking good...never have been"...such great line delivery.

MikeSPx24bj9 I disagree. This scene certainly but the full film in its entirety makes it clear that behind the brash behaviour he's a very deeply hurt and troubled man indeed.

+Roger Hunter Years and years of acting training with classes, mixed in with some natural talent, and excellent direction. Screen/stage presence helps too, but only for certain types of characters and the characters Pacino tends to play do need some type of presence that you can feel.

The genius of overacting that is lol Pacino could only wish he had the versatility and subtleness De Niro has in his acting. Brando introduced us to method acting while De Niro took it to another level.

to me al pacino is the greatest hollywood actor. i know brando, de nero, daniel day-lewis, tom hanks and all cud do this character in their own style and that wud be a hit roo but i have found that al pacino's body movement and facial gesture during his acting and delivering dialogues is so much better than others that has made his ahead of others in my opinion. everyone has his favourites, i like and regard other actors too, but pacino is so much involved in his character and he invents and adds so much to a character that i cant but say that he is the best of them all.
