I found this video to be informative, inciteful and educational. I enjoy contemplation of the physical properties of the coin and the review of its along with the imparted history and value. Silver is genuinely magic even when it is worn down to a smooth nearly unrecognized condition. Thank you for this video!
I have my Grandfather's silver dollar good luck charm , it was the first dollar he earned and carried it until his death. It's worn smooth on both sides & the good luck is still there .
Silver alloyed with copper produces a harder and more abrasion resistant silver alloy. On the other hand, pure silver is very soft and has a Vickers Hardness of 54 HV. For comparison, Sterling Silver alloy consists of 92.5% Silver + 7.5% Copper and has a Vickers Hardness of 75 HV. The United States Mint formerly used Coin Silver alloy which consisted of 90% Silver + 10% Copper to mint their silver coins for circulation. Coin Silver was harder than Sterling Silver which the British used to mint their sterling silver coins for circulation. The Royal Canadian Mint used a silver alloy which consisted of 80% Silver + 20% Copper to mint their silver coins for circulation. 80% Silver alloy was harder and more wear resistant than 90% Silver alloy.
Thank you for this post it is very thought provoking and I enjoyed reading it and contemplating the why, how and what questions about creation of a durability of silver coinage.
If you can still make out the date, you should submit it to get it slabbed and graded and go for the coveted Poor 01 grade. That would be groovy and far out, Sal.
Yes, I do. It's one of spegtaculars very first poured pieces he started selling. It's my lucky pocket piece. I carry it every day a 1.6 ozt hammered on the back and round like a coin with stars and his logo on the obverse. You asked, Sal.
Now that's pretty slick, pun intended. Amazing, you haven't lost it by now! If you get it graded. It would be interesting. But you would have to start another one! If you ever do plan to get it graded, I would wait until it's 40th anaversary. I personally don't have a every day carry. I've though about it but I know I would lose it and that would devestate me. I would wear it out quicker just making sure it's still there! 😂🤟👍🙏🙏🙏
Wow, I really enjoyed this video. I used to carry a generic round in my wallet. I took it out for fear of wear. Now I carry 3-1943 steel pennies, and occasionally leave one with a tip.
I’ve always wondered what these small seemingly insignificant things I’ve found in the Posessions of the Men I grew up around and the Men I’ve been lucky enough to get to know
I carry a ASE and a generic buffalo round. I like to chatter them just for fun. Nothing like the sound of silver on silver. Good thing that scammer violin player wasn't able to play your request. (I think you offered it up if she could actually play something)
Sal, it kinda reminds me of the caricature named 2Face from Batman cartoons, He always kept a large coin in his pocket and would Flip it for heads or tails to help him make his daily decisions. Did you ever flip the ASE at times?
I carry a 2022 silver eagle but mine is in a direct fit holder reason that I have the 2022 that is the last silver eagle I got from my LCS guy before he passed away so that's what I carry On rubbing it's alright to rub the coin just don't rub one out 😅
I had one myself in my pocket too, a Silver Eagle but I lost it.. and I became afraid to carry another one.. I really liked to hold it, and I love the sound it made.. Question.. do you think I should give it another try? Also what sounds dose your coin makes now?
Ancient coin from the Salivation Nation. Some wear. 😂
I carry a 2023 Silver Eagle everyday. It's still looking pretty good.

I'll always love my pocket piece.
I have a couple of rocks my grandkids gave me that I've been carrying for around 7-8 years. Cool video Sal.

Had those tube's in the family since 1986. 👍
It looks good for something that has been carried around for so long
Nice video Sal🙂 thanks

Thanks for sharing. Interesting topic. Happy Christmas.
I already carry too much stuff in my pockets. No coins. If I were to choose what not to carry it would be the cell phone.
Love you Sal

Why would you ever get it graded? I doubt it would even get slabbed,it’s not readable to put any info to the slab
Some people actually colect the lowest grade coins they can find, weird I know but its true.@brandongant9343

Well it’s almost a planchette again Sal…
That's one way of getting rid of unwanted microbes in your pocket! Even though it cost you a 1/10 ounce! 😂😂
The old silver Eagle represents the height of American Power and Hegemony
I do, but I carry it in my wallet. So no wear.👍
Amazing !
Very cool sal I keep a Lil bit of silver in my bug out bag 🛍️🥈
Oh snap That's my birth year I got one of those and a proof.
Aye aye aye! Poor silver eagle! 😢 Somebody play Taps for it, please! 🤧
Ha ha I have a 1922 peace dollar in my wallet for last 5 years. Had to masking tape it up because it was wearing out from sliding around
A Silver Eagle in your pocket, mate I thought you were just happy to see me

What you forgot to tell the viewers was that you were 50 when you bought it.😁
👍 Nice Sal
Still looks to be in VG condition.

Oh snap that's my birth year I got one of those as part of my collection and a proof.
I’ve found 200 year old coins metal detecting that look better than that 1990 silver eagle. Simply amazing!! Thanks for sharing.
It's amazing that you have been able to keep it so long and lose in the laundry or some other place.
I carry a Christmas angel round my wife gifted me ❤
I’ve always wondered what these small seemingly insignificant things I’ve found in the Posessions of the Men I grew up around and the Men I’ve been lucky enough to get to know

INTERESTING HOW THE COIN HAS DEGRADED JUST LIKE YOU HAVE.
I tried carrying a silver half dollar in my pocket and lost it in a week 🤣
😂 it looks like a blank!
😮
