I’ve just literally 10 mins ago began the process of getting my HGV licence, I have my medical in a few weeks. Nervous but excited for a complete change of career!
Great points mate, well done. With the reversing, always if you can, try and get a spotter to help you out. Remember you are delivering or collecting there product, so they dont want anything damaged etc. You are bang on(UK very much like NZ)with everything else though IMO. Thick skin and all that. Nice one mate well done. We only have Google Maps over here, I do up to 28m loads, pilots(escorts) earn there money.
I normally end the video when you say "see you in the next one". Today I let the video play to the end. The new graphic/logo loading your name onto the truck is great. You should use it as an intro too.
Sat nav's 😮. Maps was the way to find our way around, and ask for directions years ago. I was surprised, recently an agency driver commented he was sent on an assignment, was expected to drive a truck with a gear stick. 😂 He couldn't drive it. Awe I do miss a good splitter box.😊 I was once asked by a newly passed Stobbard driver "how do the curtains open" he didn't have a clue. Another occasion I was in a timber yard in Lockerbie a driver asked "how the hell do these straps and ratchets work, can you spare some time and show me "😮 he didn't say please😢. I had to laugh what he said next. "This truck driving caper isn't as good as what's it made out to be". I asked "have you been driving long" ? Answered "only 2 weeks, but there isn't going to be another 2 weeks, I'm jacking it in soon". He too was a Stobbard driver.
Yeah, really good content once again..the only issue is the volume. I'm at full volume on my laptop and I'm craning my neck to squeeze all the volume out of this thing I can..lol. If there is anything you can do to make the videos a bit louder, so that I'm not struggling to hear them, that would make a massigve difference mate! Cheers pal, really enjoying learning from your sound judgements!
You're thenfirst person who has said Im to quite. Most of the comments I have had before have been about the music being too loud. I'll see what I can do.
Amazon will be a communal area where folks are banging on im 37 have been driving for a living since i was 17 and drove HGV for 17 years of that time. Im not one for sitting talking trucks with random drivers, etc. Driving a truck now to me is a job the excitement went years ago. 😂 Although i wouldn't want to do anything else pretty weird. 😂
Passed my class2 but wish i didnt i have no patience at all waiting in traffic or rdc ect drove me nuts wanted to get out and hulk smash the nearest radius
Not long at all. Coming up to 4 years. Still learing everyday. but because of the work I've done and the places I've been lucky enough to go, I've learnt quite a lot. It's been in my family for a long time. My Dad, Grandad and Uncle all driver or drove trucks.
Nice video!! I'm in the process of completing my CPC. I'm 71 and have had my Class 1 since 1973. Have enjoyed all my years driving. Passed my test in a G reg AEC Mandator! Those were the days!!😂

Some good advice mate 👍
Thanks Sam!
If you don’t like working on your own or don’t enjoy your own company don’t become a truck driver.
Passed my class2 but wish i didnt i have no patience at all waiting in traffic or rdc ect drove me nuts wanted to get out and hulk smash the nearest radius
I've done more miles in reverse than a lot of driver's today 🤣🤣
Stop making wrong turns then! 🤣
Dont blindly trust a sat nav. Use your own instinctive.
Know your heights and how to use your tacho card to maximise your day, etc.
Big Ashley 💪🏽
Nice video 👍
Thanks, I really appreciate the feedback!
How long have you been in the saddle. A year, 5 years, 10 years. Just wanted to know.
