I get £15 an hour driving trucks for a national distribution company, my salary seems fair and similar to yours I don't do a lot of overtime, sometimes it's not worth doing overtime after a certain amount as you pay too much tax for the return on your effort so I do just enough like 10 hours max.

£13.80 an hour.. A honorable job that we all rely on but you get paid worse than someone who is a 4 star rate at Macdonalds and I find that to be disgusting

Find the right balance of pay and the company you work for. Some companies run you into the ground for you to get maximum pay. Dont do it. Get in with a company that doesnt treat you like a dog, the pay may be less but you wont feel unappreciated and pushed for your money and that is the most important thing. Dont feel pushed for your money. The problem with most HGV roles is the hours. Ive been a class 1 car transporter for a number of years and whilst the money is good, the stress of idiots on the roads that cant drive properly and taking trucks into difficult roads is something i wont miss. Theres plenty of other jobs out there that are enjoyable and dont have the bull shit associated with HGV driving. Another aspect is the lack of respect. Your just a driver at the end of the day. Remember, when you hear talk of 37 to 40,000 a year, more in some roles, its the accumulated hours you need to consider. Many roles outside of HGV driving, sales reps, customer service managers etc, on paper pick up less pay, but they arent doing the hours, they are at home whilst you have another 3 or 4 hours before you park up. Multiply that for every working day of the month and the hours worked start to diverge considerably. What is found is that your not actually on more money than they are, your simply working more hours for the difference. If they worked 60 hours they would be on the same as you. Find balance between pay, the quality of the company and the time you are putting in. Truck driving is not the only work out there for you guys with no qualifications . Dont restrict yourself to driving a truck all your life. Try something else, if it doesnt work out theres always a truck to jump into for 55 60 hours a week

The story gets uglier faster the more you earn over 50k. As a self-employed Ltd company director, my marginal tax rate over 50k is 61.75% it just isn't worth working in this country any more. The more that withdraw their labour, the sooner the socialist over-spending state collapses

I'm currently shunting for one of the parcel companies and we have 8 shunters on my shift and each of us are doing 80 to 120 trailer movies a day. Some saying shunting is difficult and with so many moves even more difficult but for me it is easy and I really like it, keeps me off the road and I don't need to deal with silly drivers.

Im getting 430 in a factory, im looking into doing my license in the new year, wont be popstar wages but definitely improve my standard of living. I left the army 7 years ago with no real education. Im 33 now and desperate to get out changing factories every year. I think id love being on the roads at night compared to sweating and breaking my back in a factory for 200 quid less a week

I thought you guys would be on a higher salary TBH bit surprised by this, no interest in this as a career I am too old but for what you do and the stress meeting deadlines, traffic and physical affects on the body it seems like you are underpaid. My Late father had friend in the 80s who was a a long distance driver at the time he would have been early 40s and he had DVT in his legs purely through driving in a stationary position for a long time it ultimately contributed to his death.

I had a mate who was a truck driver, while I worked at a filling station. He came in one Sunday and told me that he'd just worked for one hour (as they all did) cleaning the vehicle and doing other odd jobs to get the truck ready for the week ahead. He said that minimum hours he could be paid for on a Sunday was four and that was paid at treble time! (So twelve hours pay for one hours work!) This was decades ago, so I don't know what's changed since then, but I won't bother telling you what the rates were. But basically, I worked an eight-hour shift (on basic money) in the station and got about one quarter of the wages that he did, for just working one hour! Boy, was I ever in the wrong job!

Really interesting for me as I love driving and since and young lad up untill now I'm currently 32 years old. Lorry driving is something I've always wanted to build myself up to. But never known what they earn. So thankyou for putting this vidio up that's not a bad wage at all and your driving on the road. I take my hat off to lorry drivers coz the skills they possess is crazy. Like some real skilled driving some of the reversing I've seen from lorry drivers is mind blowing 👌

Quite frankly I'm a lorry driver too but in the waste industry . I think the wages should be more for such a dangerous job and one that takes so much commitment

For the responsibility, hours worked and time away from home that pay is nowhere near enough. I was a HGV driver (no nights out) for 33 years and had enough, the stress really isn't worth it. I now litter pick for 2 days a week, no stress, and come home with just over a £1000 a month. It's over £12 an hour just for that, so I'm happy. When I was driving HGV's I was literally £60 a week better off after tax, so, £15 a day, that was another reason to jack the driving in.

Pay is garbage in Scotland. I was tramper for 27 year. Left the job in 2021. Sat about until 2024 and now looking for a job, Class One, general haulage, all I get offered is minimum wage, £11.40 per hour. My licence can stay in my pocket at that. Exactly why all the European drivers never came back as they all getting 15 Euro minimum in France and Germany for driving and they get treated with respect over there. In UK, you're just an inconvenience to everyone and the truck stop are shabby.

People who talk like that are either narcissistic bells or in a really bad place in their life, so theres no real point. Let them destroy their pitiful life. I know this because I used to be that person who used to take to SM to bring others down. I regretted my actions and went through 100s of comments that i had wrote and apologised or deleted them. Take it from me, its not personal but just a reflection of themselves.

Your wages dont prove anything... I get more than your salary as a class 2 driver. Class 1 drivers eaen anything from £15 an hour to £30 an hour. So u need change your company

Don't be discouraged by sad sick people with nothing to do. The same people who blame immigrants for "taking their jobs" whilst they never want to do the training or get the qualifications.

I'm a Shunter. Contracted to 46 but only work around 39 on average, 4 on 4 off. I earned 45k last tax year with a couple of days overtime, not too shabby. Pays the bills and mine and my girlfriends love of eating out.

You are underpaid, you should be earning at least x2 what you are paid considering prices in the UK. Did you know that in Poland starting salary for truck drivers is 3000 Euros a month in hand, what you are earning is roughly 2500 Euros a month in hand, I understand that you love your job, but everyone should be paid fair, and 800£ a week is a joke...

The hourly rate should be much higher for hgv drivers. You should be able to earn a decent wage for working a 40hr week.

Tramping is a mute point as many people commute during the week to earn a living. I was in the RAF for 30 years before leaving and started Tramping, I spent more time away from the family in the armed forces and class1 driving is the easiest job I have ever had. Your vlogs were spot on.
