    Don't need to boil water, Pasteurization involves heating to a minimum of 145° F for a minimum of 30 minutes, Pasteurized water is safe to drink.

    Good idea. Didn’t succeed this time but is necessary to think outside the box in desperate situations.

    I might not be knowledgeable enough to throw my two cents in here, but I feel like you could have had more sucess if you had attached the blanket higher up, maybe even at the connection point of the tripod, so there would be less material hanging over the heat that isn't holding water. Essentially making the blanket closer to a bag than a bowl.

    If you don't let the flame Hit the part of the plastic that doesn't have water,it won't melt, keep the flame directly under the water and a small flame...
