- One of the biggest questions in gardening is how you can get year-round garden color and beauty throughout the four seasons. It’s important to always have something to look forward to…after one thing fades the savvy gardener knows that something else will come into Bloom and take its place of interest. #gardening #gardendecor #gardendesign #cottagegarden #gardentour #cottagestyle #backyard #springgarden

Miss Linda, I think I posted this a year ago - but then you had so much going on... To keep the Salvia forever in bloom do this: Just before the plant reaches full bloom (needed for the first pruning/deadheading only) Determine which you consider as 'The Front Side/View' and trim the blooms off the Back half of the plant. When the Back half is ready to bloom, again deadhead off the FRONT half of the original blooms. Then repeat with trimming the back & front alternately. By continuing this half & half treatment, Salvia will be continually in bloom the entire growing season.
Love this tip! Thank you!
Clever tip! This may help it not flop over as much?
Please don't apologize for a long video. The more, the better! Every space is so lovely. ❤
Your yard is sooo beautiful. I can't get over how full it looks for only one year!
The Foxgloves are dreamy! I can’t believe how much bigger the trees got. Lovely layering! Each week there’s more and more to see! Thanks for the tour! 🌿🌿🌿🌸🌸
It's just amazing to see how quickly your garden has grown in such a short time. It's a wonderful example of what can be done and how beautiful it can be. I've truly enjoyed seeing a blank slate turned into a magnificent garden. ❤
And continuous watering is also a secret ingredient!
Year two at the cottage is looking exquisite! Well done Linda❤
I totally agree that the silver metal garden hose is absolutely the best!!! So much appreciate your telling us about it, Linda
Just be careful and don't step on it on a stone path. Ask me how I know😢.
Excellent, heartwarming video as always. Just finished 2 weeks of jury duty, which is an incredibly important civic duty but also incredibly stressful and draining and has left me exhausted and full of headache. This video was EXACTLY what I needed to see today - peaceful, calming, and balancing. A good dose of Linda gardening therapy. Returning to work tomorrow, but today, I'm recharging my emotional battery and looking after me with the help of you guys (starting with my own Thursday walkabout and doing some pinching out). Thank you for your time in providing these videos, and for feeling like a friend in a time of need- so appreciated ❤
Lemon lane is looking luscious!!!!! I love chartreuse and golden shrubs in the garden. And larkspur and foxglove are two of my favorites. Anything tall and spiky has such a cottage feel in any garden. I would love my garden to look like yours, but i do not have an unlimited budget, And I was just at a local nursery here in California looking for some fever few and lemon licorice , and the 4 inch pot was $8.99!!!!!! I am shocked how the prices have skyrocketed.
Budget wise most of us don't switch out annuals. I keep my pansies all seasons. But she is putting on a garden show.
I like the idea of Stewart commenting in the background, but I think you need to give him a microphone 😎 . It’s hard only hearing one side of the conversation. Often I find myself rewinding to see if I can hear what he said, but no go.
Yes, please!
I agree!!! I love the hose!!! Every person with a garden needs one!!!
again you are so gracious ....lovely, lovely, lovely......garden, person and spirit.....
I am going to miss the wildness of last year's flower box. ❤
I loved it too. So original and eye catching.
Really looking forward to the Redbud tree pruning video!
Wow Linda! the change in your front garden is mind blowing! I cant believe how much growth all of the plants have put on in a year. A very impressive explosion of beauty!
Linda, you've created your own little piece of paradise! Gorgeous 😍 love your outfit too.
It is so exciting seeing your garden really flourish this year, Linda! Your color pallet is just gorgeous, I am even loving all the different shades of green! Thank you for all the great tips as well!
It's never too long, Linda. Your expertise is wonderful. I just love the red in the back.
I can't imagine how much fertilizer you use or how you have the energy and time to
tend to all of this. The roses out front are beautiful along with the foxglove which I
could never get going. The larkspur is a favorite because of the color. Just WOW!
I love the way your ( Gone With The Wind) back stairs, has evolved so beautifully.
❤
Love everything about your gorgeous garden. I can't get over how fast the backyard has come in a year. Your vision is brilliant!!
Pentas are such wonderful pollinator attractors. They also bloom their heads off through the first hard frost. I love them!
Your front garden proves what most plants need more than anything is sunlight. No way any of that could grow as big or bountiful without sun. It helps to have a long growing season also. But there’s something else; you really know how to focus, observe, study and divine what your plants need to reach their potential. Very impressive.
Oh my goodness. You are living the dream in your beautiful garden. I can't believe it's only been a year or less for many of the plants. Perfection to my eye. I love that cute outfit too. Blessings to you and the LV team.
A really good video on Harmony in the garden Linda! wish I could see it inperson.
Don’t you just love standing watering with your hose I do! 😊
I loved this detailed video; it’s not too long at all! I wonder if Minoan Lace will grow for me in zone 9a, Foley, AL? My 2 Diamond Spire Gardenias handled our 19 degrees weather this past winter. They are also blooming now. I wish I could send you pictures of my before and after gardens. We moved into a new construction house in Oct 2022. I used the ‘no dig” method with cardboard, compost & pine bark mini nuggets using retaining wall blocks to create my gardens. It’s looking absolutely beautiful!
Just gorgeous!
Linda it was a joy to meet you this past Friday! Thank you for the tour of your beautiful gardens!
The camera just does not do Lemon Lane justice. Absolutely gorgeous! The back garden just took my breath away! Just so so beautiful! Shorty and I so enjoyed our time with you. You are a wonderful hostess.
We planted the delicious smelling gardenia in a pot so I can protect it this next winter and placed it so it can have afternoon shade. NW OK is difficult to garden in but we are tenacious!
Perhaps we will be able to come again to see how your garden progresses through the seasons. Thank you again!
Stunning!
Absolutely beautiful!
Thanks for the tour :)
I like all of the different colors, textures and shapes that you pull together to create your many garden sections. Your garden is beautiful and especially liked the white roses, alliums, butterfly bush and your many topiaries. A fun video to watch!
So beautiful 😊❤
Splendor in the gardens. You have taught me how to love my garden! Spires on foxglove illuminated by ivory roses in the background; light filtering through the leaves of a redbud; shadow play of tulips on a walkway! Good heavens! And, other nuances too numerous to recall here. You are not only a gardener but an educator, teacher, mother, mentor, neighbor, friend. Thank you for sharing your words of wisdom with your audience. Thank you for inviting us into this tranquil and beautiful space resplendent with color and texture. Such joy!
Your foxglove looks amazing!
Linda, never apologize for a long video!! We love them!!😊❤️
This was wonderful !!! The length was perfect and so so much loved the earlier posting ❤
Linda, your gardens have grown so much and are splendid!! ❤❤
I love this long beautiful walk about !
Thanks to team Linda !
So happy to see the kind bees!
Beautiful
Your garden looks extraordinary! It never ceases to amaze me what a difference garden zones make. My 8b garden is sooo far behind yours!
I don't understand why that would be. Your garden should be AHEAD not behind. Linda is in zone 7b.
@@mifasola1 I’m in zone 8b, as well, and I am several weeks behind Linda!
Love the pastel palette of the front garden with the splash of red in the back garden.
Such a gorgeous garden❤
Love the necklace mention! Can’t wait to see your space in person.
Beautiful! I enjoyed this so much. I love all the red in your backyard! Thank you for sharing.❤
I have the orange rockets as well and they are just so beautiful I need more
Window box looks amazing!
I’m sure your garden is so rewarding
It’s beautiful Linda. I’m striving for a similar look but my garden is teaching me to be patient as my plants are small but we will get there. Thank you for your expertise and inspiration.
Your garden looks so beautiful ! I can't believe how much it has grown in such a short time ! From Georgia with love ❤️
Nothing but Spectacular views all the way around!
Awesome color and wonderful texture! Thank you for the inspiration of your beautiful gardens!!
Just so beautiful. How it has changed in such a short time!!!
Linda, It's Historic garden week her in Virginia. I'm in Richmond and I thought of you so many times on the tour yesterday. You are a great inspiration.
So beautiful and how quickly it’s taken off well done !
I bought the 100 ft hose. It is so light. It makes hand watering a dream.
Linda, your garden is so lush and lovely. I can’t believe how quickly everything has bloomed out. I feel like my things are a bit behind. I live in Seymour which is just outside of Knoxville Tn.
I just bought your lightweight hose and I love it. I have to use 100ft of hose and this lightweight one is an absolute pleasure to use when watering my garden. Thank you so much for the tip. I can't thank you enough for showing us the new growth in your garden. It's a great motivator.
It is amazing how just in the last couple of months your garden has just come to life, thanks for sharing with us❣️
Love your videos. From Cape Tow n South Africa
OMG Linda I thought is not your garden. But its amazing how quickly has grown all your plants. So beautiful.
I love the colors you chose for your backyard!!! You have done an Amazing Job with your new gardens!!! I have watched your channel for a very long time and I get new idea's every time I watch!!! Thank you for sharing all of your ideas with us!!!🥰
Your garden gives me inspiration and I’ve been working on mine with your tips. Thank you. 17:10
I’m glad you got hostas. They are a strong element in my garden. The thicker leaves are hardly attacked by slugs and snails. Also, A tiny sprinkling of bait as they start to emerge cuts the population down hugely. I couldn’t do it this year because of a family puppy and really noticed the difference. Almost all of my hostas are in pots, fertilised by sheep pellets. they do really well and I don’t tread on them in winter when they are dormant. The garden is looking great. I really liked the 3 cane planters out the back
I live in Northern NJ, zone 7a and we're still getting frost warnings!! I'm jealous your gardens are so beautiful!!
I would kind of like a greenhouse tour :) along with tips on how to balance room for overwintering things from the garden vs i assume some permanent residents :)
I have those same sneakers in three colors. Black and white like yours, all white for summer, and all khaki. They are comfy.
Thanks for the tip on alum. Your garden has really been showing off. We just got a frost last week. Trying to be patient.
Hi Linda and Stewart
Very exciting to see how your planning worked out in the front and backyards. The colors I like to see are white purple and yellow but I really buy plants for species that will do well. I had red canna and they thrived. But I did not dig out the bulbs so it was a one and done. 7a New York is not tropical. We are still getting 30 degree nights here. It’s not time yet to plant the less hardy annuals but by mid May we should be fine. Herb planting is ok now too. I like the beige set with the black sweater you were wearing today. You look terrific and so does your garden! 🌷🌸🌞🥰
How about adding a pot or two of succulents? Everything is beautiful ❤❤
I just love red colour in the backyard. I introduced red in my front yard last year and I am planning to keep it that way this year as well. It just makes such a bold statement.
I love Ajuga!
Loved your walk about in the garden today. I have learned so much from watching. I did notice you took the olive trees out of the plant stands in the back yard. Did that not work out?
Beautiful all the way around. I know you have shared your paint trim color before…..but if you could share again…..greatly appreciated 😎
Gorgeous front and back. Back garden is really becoming a serene sanctuary. Sorry the cages and baskets are no longer available. I have 3 of each and love them.
The foxglove!!! ❤
I appreciate your videos and how in depth and informative you are! Your garden is amazing. I think the viewer would get a better sense of just how beautiful it is if the videographer would zoom out more often. The videos have gotten so jumpy and he can’t seem to keep up with you. When you’re talking about geraniums & he’s still zoomed in on a Swiss chard, it interrupts the flow and you have to stop explaining while he plays catch up. This may be the reason why people say the garden is prettier in person. It’s hard to get the full effect when very few shots are from a distance.
Love it all!👒👒👒👒
Hi Linda, totally agree with you on the hose. Ordered 2 (different lengths) and love them. I love your recommendations 🌸
So glad!
Since my husband & 7 year old grandson are colorblind, I plant yellows and purples because they can see them.
Hoselink is wonderful you would love one
Where did hubs hammock go?
I plant purples, white, and chartreuse, but I live in south Florida zone 9.
I really miss my northern plantings especially in the spring Lilacs, Forsythia, peonies, hydrangeas, climbing roses, and clematis.
Your foxgloves are glorious!
I’m wondering when and how you feed your garden? The garden has grown so quickly and looks beautiful!❤
So beautiful! Our daffodils just blossomed here in Vermont, soon we will have tulips and then the lilacs will blossom 🌸
Vermont here too and my daffs are just starting to bloom.
Hi Linda, I am a big big fan of yours and look forward to your videos. I am a gardener from upstate New York same zone as yours and your videos always make my day. I always wonder from where you got your garden pineapple finials. They are lovely!! I have your decors from QVC in my garden but cannot find finials. If you happen to know economical options for garden decor, please recommend. Thank you!
Foxgloves are beautiful
I love the sprayer on your hose Linda! Is there a link for that - please & thank you?!
Could you please make a note in your garden journal to show us your allium planting process next fall??? 😊
Incredibly fast growth. What do you use of fertilizer and how often do you apply it?
Everything is so lush! Great job!
Walk about 😊
Everything looks incredible. I have a question I would like to ask. My children brought me a Eugenia topiary. It has three balls and is beautiful. I know It needs sun and water regularly. What type of pot should I purchase to keep it happy? I hope I have as much luck with it, as you do. Also does it have to come indoors during the winter? THANK YOU LINDA.
Where's the 2nd part of the video of the house tour and the diy matchbix craft?i have been waiting and waiting to see how she did the matchbox craft .
❤
Would you please tell me the shrub roses that you have in your front garden? Who grows them, color, and how tall and wide they grow? Thank you!!!
I have many color garden Reds yellow purple white pink and greens herbs
Linda, what grower do you use for your salvia
A word to the wise about hosta. Last year I had beautiful hosta, which I had grown to truly love. One morning, I walked out to look and they were gone gone gone gone. Yes, the deer had visited my backyard so if you have hosta, please protect them the deer seem to love them as much as we do.
I had the same issue with squirrels eating my hosts 😓
Two questions, did your boxwood basil reseed (I have some seeds to try out) and are you still going to try a David Austen rose by the garage door? Great video as usual, the longer the better!
BEAUTIFUL!! DO YOU EVER PLANT GAURA OR ANOTHER NAME IS WHIRLING BUTTERFLYS IT DROUGHT TOLERANT AND COMES BACK LIKE A BOOM… Judy in pensacola fl 🦋🦋
