Thanks for the memories. I used to run in the IMPBA around Detroit 30-35 years ago. Our race was on Saturday at the Blue Heron Lagoon on Belle Isle and the Gold Cup was on Sunday on the Detroit River. I never really learned how to race very well but I sure did have a good time building them and watching the other guys race. As for the real boats I happened to become friends with Joe Tate, Mark Tate's dad and Andrew Tate's grandfather. That Smokin' Joe's boat brought back good memories. We lost Joe a number of years ago but I was lucky enough to see Andrew win the Gold Cup in August of 2018 making he and Mark the only father and son on the Gold Cup. The best news is, for the first time in quite a few years the Gold Cup will be coming back to Detroit this August. You can bet I'll be there.
I got one of these cool looking things, I thought it was a catamaran. It was in need of restoration when I was 18 and bought it, it left my hands for a few years, but it I have it rightfully back and I'm glad I just started restoration now at 36, because I know I have the proper skills now to repair it right. The old OS max .61 nitro is being replaced with a Russian MDS of the same size, but I still need to figure out what I need, which is almost everything. I only have an almost repaird hull, engine, an old exhaust, a busted driveshaft and tube+ old prop and a free blue traxxas micro servo in its bag I found by chance while cleaning a car I bought. Good thing I found this channel, should be a good source of info and inspiration. Cheers.
Thanks Len. Truthfully, it IS a bit of a pain, but I've heard from a number of guys that my videos have inspired them to build their own boats, and that is really encouraging for me. Go build a boat!
Scott I feel like you are not the kind of person to mention that people could always fund your projects through any kind of donation service but I think it would be worth it. Your RUclips RC unlimited hydroplane boat building content is the best on the World Wide Web. Hell, I even bought (several years ago) from Rattlesnake RC the two part video by Mock One Productions titled, 'Scale Hydro Construction'. Rattlesnake RC has the video titled, 'Video Scale Hydro Cont Part ! and 2'. Originally I watched that same exact video on VHS cassette tape back in the early 1990's that I bought at Wagner Hobbies in Auburn, Washington.
Bill at Rattlesnake RC has asked me to produce a video series to sell, but you're right, it's just not my style. Maybe I'll create some shirts and mugs or other such trinkets someday and then you could sport some M5 bling!
Not sure why the cloudy days were race days LOL....was nice all week until someone put a boat in the water haha. My boat is still in work, next year I'll look at racing. Use this year as test and tune time.
Yes I have a mold for the Eliminator cowl, but I won't be making them until I need one for the build I'm currently working on. I hope to get to that point within the next few weeks. Several guys are waiting for them already, and I'll announce on my RUclips and Facebook pages when I start laying them up
It's a prop thrust and motor rotation thing. The rotation is reversed in the 1/10 scale electrics, making them lift the right sponson vs the left in other boats. They would tend to flop over if they turned the other way
The reason I started making these videos was to try and help guys like you! It's a very difficult hobby to get started in, but if you watch my videos I've tried to cover pretty much all of the things you'll need to know to get going. Be sure to read the descriptions under each video and check out the links. Awesome boats and great coverage. The finish of these boats is next level, yet they race them side by side! Cheers, DJ

Beautiful boats & enjoy watching.
Only have one question where are the safety nets.
Safety? You talkin' to me?
Hay Scott do you make a cowl for the 151 extreme kit thanks

Why do electrics run left turn vs right turn like the gas/nitro?
It's a prop thrust and motor rotation thing. The rotation is reversed in the 1/10 scale electrics, making them lift the right sponson vs the left in other boats. They would tend to flop over if they turned the other way
Can we see you test and tune your boats(stroh)
Of course! ruclips.net/video/7E4OAW5sVps/видео.html
Hey scott why does the tenth scale electrics do left turns
The motor rotation in the 10th scale boats is reversed from the larger scales, so the prop thrust makes them turn better in the opposite direction
Where do I buy one these boats? Are they kits? How do I get started into a hobby like this as I have nitro trucks but nothing this large, thanks

hello i am new at this and i have a 31cc Marine engine in a 48" catamaran from Bonzi sports what type of fuel do i use ??
Run non-ethanol pump gas, anything over 87 octane, and add 10oz two stroke oil per gallon. You'll have fun with that boat!

@@M5PerfHydros what if I buy a kit and send it to you 🤔
Heh, nope I don't build boats to order, sorry. But the reason I make the videos is so that other guys can build one for themselves. You can do it!
I'd like to ask if you know of a person that makes a dummy engine for a zenoah 260pum gas engine.
Yup! I have 3d printed Allison engines available through Rattlesnake RC here; www.allrc1.com
