Hey Scott---Why don't the newer boats have Lifting rings and side view mirrors to be Scale?

I guess it's a matter of where do you stop? So many details we could add. Years ago most guys took the time to add as many small details as they could, but at that point in time the hobby was more about modeling than racing. I think the focus has shifted to where guys are keeping the boats as simple as possible to reduce maintenance and repair time from having all the little bits breaking off all the time.

Any idea who makes cowls for the gas scale hulls. I know Steve at rcboat company makes a few for the early hydros but nothing for 2000 and later years. For a first build do you recommend sticking with a early hull like a u55 or could later year hulls be similar to build.

Hi John, I know of two guys making a modern cowling, but there's probably more too. Look for Baker Boatworks from Texas on Facebook for one option, and the other is Jeff Snell here in WA state. Hit me up on email and I'll share Jeff's email there. I did reply to your earlier email, including a link in my reply, so if you haven't seen it you might want to check your spam folder

Here’s a question( that I’ll be searching as soon as I send this)…..RC boats run right hand turns and outboards on up to unlimiteds run left hand turns?😉

Engine rotation. For whatever odd reason, model engines rotate counterclockwise instead of clockwise like full size car and boat engines. The counter rotation effects of the motor and prop tend to lift the left side of the boat vs right side in the real boats. Turning left would add to the lift and all the boats would flop over in the first turn. Interestingly, the smaller electric motors do turn clockwise which is why our 10th scale boats do turn left.

Hello for more speed should i go to a three blade prop on my 48" cat

Who knows? The only way to find out is to try it. I probably have 50 different props, with 45 of them that didn't work. But by golly I tried it!

I wish I could run gas or nitro, but here near pittsburgh all the lakes pretty much outlawed gas and nitro. Still looking for the private lake someone will let me run on! Then there's the Ohio... but if you wanna talk rough, it's an ocean out there for rc boats! I'd like to make a ocean racer with a gasser motor, it'd be fun with the rollers. But my friend who was pushing me to go electric, my 1st week I literally had a boat burning in the middle of a lake, ofcourse I did figure things out quick. But definitely not cheaper, maybe in the short term, but long term I think electric is more expensive. I did get my ML kneeler built, went thru a few motor changes to finally get her going. 1st motor was too small, a tfl outboard, wouldn't even plane her off, then a 3500kv on a 3.5 cc lower with an adapter, that planed off, but was running maybe 40mph. So then I acquired some 7.5cc nitro lowers, I put a 1700kv 4070 motor on it, 150 amp esc and on 6s. Now she's running, need to shift some weight forward, it was floating a good 3 inches, turn fin completely out of the water in the straights, I did blow it over but landed right side up. But she looked like a real D stock hydro with how she was floating, maybe a little too much! Turns well at speed, doesn't like slow turns. Time for paint this winter!
