Yea, just started playing V Rising today and I was planning to play it with the Modern Camera mod. I spent about half an hour trying to make it work, only to find out through your comment that it no longer works due to the recent update. Thank you for the heads up!
@@eerie733 Yeah, no. You're objectively wrong. It's opinions like yours that need to die out (preferably slowly and painfully). Can you imagine playing RTS in over-the-shoulder perspective? I mean proper RTS with full-scale skirmishes, not an action game with RTS elements. For less extreme example take many MMOs: it's common for players to play with camera zoomed all the way out and with 40-60 degrees angle to have the best view of the battlefield. Oh, also Diablo and it's cousings (like POE, Torchlight, etc.) are a thing. V Rising is nowhere near being ruined by this choice. Just say you'd love to play the game but you dislike that camera and move on (or better yet, try to find positives to this perspective and learn to enjoy it).
@@NaoyaYami Fair enough. I never enjoyed RTS games nor Diablo(s), hence why this kind of games might as well not exist for me, considering top-down is a major turn off. But I forget that people out there enjoy it. Look, I've seen so many games "ruined" by top-down that I've grown to hate and despise it. One example is Lost Ark; there aren't many good MMO's left out there and when this one came out I tried liking it but 100 hours in I realized I couldn't get behind the camera and controls, despite the game looking gorgeous and fun, all I could think about was how they wasted a whole game with one single bad decision ( isometric view).
@@eerie733 It's okay, almost everyone has genres they don't like. I myself often get frustrated (mostly at myself for these stupid wishes) that whatever I'm enjoying (games or other media) would make for a great fighting game. Sadly, it'd most likely get a shitty arena fighter (games like Naruto Ninja Storm, Demon Slayer, most DBZ games like Tenkaichi, Xenoverse, etc.). V Rising does feel good with action cam but it's clearly not really designed for it (and there's a huge chance that if devs would give us optional action cam, vocal minority would screech about game not working perfectly with it - just read comments about Guild Wars 2's action cam).
There is one thing that missing, a mod that you can toggle a locked camera with crosshair like so you can still zoom in and out, but like you press this hotkey, and you go into "Combat mode" where you dont need to hold your right mouse button down, and you know where you're aiming while adjusting your camera... kinda always hated the way the cursor just smoke bombs on you the moment you hit rmb
But that's exactly what this mod does... It's a mode called "action camera" and it's activated separately from the main part (the one that just allows for customization of 3rd person cam). You can use action cam in both 1st person and 3rd person (also with over the shoulder offset). Unless you just want to see crosshair all the time (including action cam) in which case there's a setting called "always show crosshair" or something like that.
I really hope this comes to the final version of the game at some point because I just bought it on ps. 5 absolutely love the atmosphere, the music, the visuals. I just really hate the camera that I'm constantly doing the zoom in to just be behind my character, but it goes back all the way out when you get in combat. Hopefully, they listen and add this as an option for people that prefer this camera
As far as I know, the dev's won't ever implement that as an official camera view. The reason behind that is simple: they build up that world with isometric view, in mind that players will only see it in top down. With third person, a lot of the beauty wouldn't be recognized and orientation is quite harder. To be frankly, it's a top-down game so either way you like it or not. If the dev's ever implement that, it would change the gameplay too drastically.
@@Ettenbuettel you should be able to scroll all the way into this camera angle for pvp and boss battles but also scroll back out for traveling across the map and stuff like that
@@brettknibbs9351 If you play on your own server, feel free to do that, but it should never be an option for the official game. Camera angle is not only an artistic point of view. It will change the world for you and how you discover it. A mace looks totally different if you discover it first person or top-down, and will change your experience and behavior. The main problem is that devs would get lost if they try to satisfy third-person/first-person players and top-down players. It's always nice to have a lot of different options, but at some point it's getting a nightmare to adjust for dev's to keep a good balance between different play styles. Anyway, I hope the devs go their own roots and vision with this game (what they already told). They want to listen to player suggestions, but it's their dream of a game, and they proofed already that they are very good at it, so they have my trust.
i wish this game had 3rd person as a mode i find it why better to play this way even 2 of my friends said they would have got this game if it had a 3rd person mode because they did not like the original setting
If it were possible, it would be need to have a button macro that changes the camera setting from ground floor to top down view, and then back and forth over again at your leisure.
I find myself tilting my head up whenever I play this game. It's extremely uncomfortable, even if I keep catching myself doing it and fixing my posture. This camera limit is absolutely idiotic in the vanilla game.
@@Spriktor Who gives a shit? I'll still pvp but to play a game like this for the PVP is a head scratcher as there are far more viable options. Just saying.

You can set the mod to use default camera for building and you can just easily swap between action cam, modded 3rd person perspective and 1st person perspective (it's just zooming in after all). It's not like setting this mod up requires some arcane knowledge or a major in software development so you can just download and check it yourself (the whole ModernCamera mod can be configured in game's native menu). And let me tell you, exploring your castle in 1st person can be completely different experience (for starters, even basic fence gate looks more impressive).
As of the 1.0 release - this mod aswell as bepinex seems outdated and in need of an update. Sad cause this mod overhauled the gameplay; without actually overhauling the gameplay! It just made the game feel that more more immersive!
I've been using this for some time, but I got really tired of it. I am back to isometric view but now it's a bit off in a sense that the camera is higher or a different angle. Is there a way for me to uninstall this mod?
Isometic is cool when its a option and the camera is locked. Its lame when forced nonstop. Sad that developers don't understand that gamers want different camer options that aren't above the players head. Like i understand that they dont want games to feel Similar, but hey, when something works great... dont make it worse.
With this mod you can set action cam to be very similar to vanilla one (45-60 degrees). You can then use a keybind to swap between action cam and regular camera easily. Alternatively you can just change the key used to rotate camera.
If you wanna get buttfucked in PvE and PvP this mod is for you. Because there are so many "Bullethell" bosses and adds that attack from all sides of the screen it's pretty unplayable.
Probably should have led with "THIS CAN'T BE USED ON REGULAR SERVERS" instead of waiting to announce it at the very end. Cool mod, I would actually play the game if they offered a 3rd person option.
But default camera is 3rd person. ANY perspective that's not 1st person's is 3rd person perspective in games (2nd person perspective should be theoretically possible but hellishly confusing to play I imagine).
