This is by far the best explained and most simple video ever for setting up an open spot.

Thank you! It seems to work for Openspots 2,3, and 4. I appreciate your comment!

I am glad to help. I hope the home WiFi issue gets resolved. The crossmoding the hotspot is super easy. You will learn the C4FM to DMR works well and you can punch in talkgroups on the quick call option. In fact, you might discover DMR is almost easier from the Fusion radio. Keep me posted on any progress and feel free to ask more questions.

Thanks for the video. Do you have any instructions or a video that shows how to setup the audio playback for the OpenSpot ?

Tom, I think if you call me at 210-687-2591, I can walk you through the tricky handoff from AP mode to Wi-Fi connection and searching for the IP address. There are alternative measures that can locate the IP address and ways to verify if it is successfully connected to your Wi-Fi or not.

If you have a DMR radio and you want to talk on DMR, I got it a little confused because you went right into cross mode and I lost which setting comes first to tell the OpenSpot3 its a DMR radio then follow up with a DMR server.

If you ever get lost, click or tap on the QS button in the lower right hand corner of your browser. That will take you from ANY screen to the Quick Setup menu. On that page it asks which type of radio you are using. The choices are DStar, DMR. C4FM, NXDN, or P25. In your case you select DMR for the DMR radio. The next screen then gives you a list of radio networks you can connect to. There will be choices in DStar, C4FM, DMR, and NXDN. You might select Brandmeister for example. If you select Brandmeister. It will give you a list of Brandmeister servers from around the world. Select whichever server you want. Don't forget the newly required Brandmeister password. After the hotspot announces you are connected to Brandmeister server, You can key up a talkgroup in the DMR radio. To hear the announcement of being connected to the server, make sure to have talkgroup 9 in the receive list. When you connect tova server, the Openspot will announce the connection with talkgroup 9. If you do not have talkgroup 9 in the receive list, you will not hear the connection announcement. I hope that helps clarify your question. Please reach out if you have further questions.

I watched this a couple more times. I didn't notice when you made your first selection of the type of mode you want to select there was a statement on the screen asking you what type of radio you have. I would assume after that you could then select DMR if that's the mode you want to use and select a server.

It is a 2 step process. The first selection is for the type of radio. The second selection is which network you want to connect to. If you ONLY have a DMR radio, then you will always select DMR in the first step. That dictates which digital mode the hotspot will transmit and receive over the air with RF. If you select the wrong kind of radio in step one, your radio will not be able to decode the signal coming out of the hotspot. The second screen dictates which network you connect to on the internet side of the hotspot. The first screen is the RF used. The second screen is the network. Does that make sense?

Thank you sincerely! I followed your easy video tutorial and I got the OpenSpot3 working within just a few minutes. I have never used a hotspot before and honestly have limited Ham Radio experience in general, so I was certainly a little apprehensive. Thank you again....

I am glad it helped. I was curious what kind of radio you are using with your OpenSpot3?

@@k9wlwradio309 I'm using an FT3DR. I just bought it recently too, and I really like it. Upgraded from a Baofang UV-5R. But the OpenSpot3 has opened the world 🌎 to me!

@@FM-us3rd with a fusion radio, you can crossmode to DStar, DMR, NXDN and P25 networks. You will need to register with DStar to access that network. You can apply for a DMR and NXDN ID at radioid.net. After that login to Brandmeister network and create a profile and you can cover all digital mode networks from one radio!

@@k9wlwradio309 Thank you so much. That helps even more. I was unaware I had to register with Brandmeister and DStar...

If you are going to make all these videos you should really get a decent video camera to make them. Your little vertical videos look really bad.
