    Beautiful car!! My local dealership just got this color combination in. I am going to test drive tomorrow. I wish it didn’t have a black interior, but know all hybrids have that color combination. Thanks for the review!!

    Great video buddy. I'm on the fence between the Hybrid and the Prime. Don't know what to do.

    • @QuickShifts
      @QuickShifts  3 года назад +1

      We wanted the Prime but it wasn’t out yet. I still don’t think it is yet. Last I heard, they had a battery delay. Rumor also has it that they will be extremely hard to obtain as they have all been spoken for. But that’s just what I was told by a local dealer. Best of luck on your hunt! We have just over 8k miles on it now, still averaging just over 41 mpg and couldn’t be happier with ours.

      We've had the hybrid XSE for a couple weeks now and are also very happy. Dealer said the Prime is only being delivered to the coasts.

      I also have the XSE hybrid and wanted the Prime but wasn't available at the time. I stopped at the dealership where I bought it a couple weeks ago and heaven forbid they had a brand new Rav4 Prime XSE on the lot for sale and it was in Blizzard Pearl just like my XSE hybrid..... darn I almost wish I would have waited. But no regrets I LOVE my XSE hybrid!

      Hopefully you're getting much better mileage now in the summer months. I'm about 400 miles north of Chicago in northern Ontario and I'm getting 50 mpg (US) in July & August. In January and February though I was getting around 33 US mpg. I always drive in ECO mode, I believe that gets me an extra 3 or 4 mpg.

    When you are saying Ice are you referencing the fact Toyota calls the battery a “traction” battery? It’s odd to see how they switch features depending on market. We just bought a 21 XSE and what you call the winter package is included on all trims here in Canada, however to get the 11 speaker JBL system we had to add the “Technology Package”. As for the Prime, I’ll call that a Unicorn as we too had issues trying to get one, I’m in Newfoundland and there were literally 2 allotted for the whole island where as Quebec were allotted 1,500 of them for example. It seems Toyota has no love for the smaller markets ha ha. Nice review!

    • @QuickShifts
      @QuickShifts  3 года назад

      ICE = Internal Combustion Engine
      Traction battery? Maybe because of the weight it adds LOL! The Prime version is scarce. Rumor has it they are short on supply of batteries to produce. So far I’m loving the XSE though and don’t feel I’ve missed out. Thanks for watching and thanks for the kind words! Stay warm up there! Would like to know the effects on your battery being up north.

      @@QuickShifts ahhhh my winter brain had a fart ha ha. A lot of the ones up here are the NIMH, we just ordered it so delivery will be end of July. I’m not sure if stability for the cold is a determining factor for the NIMH or if it was the battery supply issues for choice over Li-ion. Once I take delivery and see how it performs in winter I’ll certainly report back, they aren’t really saying which battery it will have, I really wanted the panoramic roof though as that seemed to guarantee a Japanese manufactured unit as opposed to the Canadian one (J VIN as opposed to a 2 VIN) but I do know it’s coming from Cambridge or Woodstock, just hoping it doesn’t have the spring mount rusting issues, but it’ll be rust checked yearly anyway as they use a lot of road salt and brine here.

      @@SoleEpiphany I grew up in the snow belt of Ohio here in the states. I am very familiar with rock salt and brine sprays. Nasty stuff! Congratulations on your purchase. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do ours. I’ll do a follow up video on it soon. It’s almost a year and we have 22,000 miles on it now. It’s about time.

      @@QuickShifts Just a note for Canadian drivers of the Rav4 hybrids that are assembled in Woodstock Ontario, ALL the batteries for the electric motor are Nickel Metal Hydride as opposed to the Lithium Ion batteries for US consumption. NIMH batteries work much better in our cold Canadian winters that are extremely long up where I live in Northern Ontario. I'm two weeks short of a year of owning my 2020 XSE hybrid just like yours (color included). Just love it. So far during July and August I'm averaging 61 mpg Imperial (50 per US gallon) which exceeds all my expectations..... in our cold winters the mpg drops off to around 40 mpg. I always drive in eco mode and it still has plenty of acceleration in that mode. Great review!

    Great review man! I have a question. I saw that the main battery’s life is about 5 years, do you have to replace it with a new one after that? Or do some sort of maintenance? Thanks for the information!

    • @QuickShifts
      @QuickShifts  3 года назад +2

      10 years life on the big drive train battery.
      However, a hybrid battery has a longer life expectancy than that of a traditional vehicle. You should be able to get at least 10 years of driving or 100,000 miles out of your hybrid vehicle before you have to begin looking for signs of wear.

    • @crispe824
      @crispe824 3 года назад

      @@QuickShifts thanks for the quick reply, however after 10 years, should it be replaced? Is it expensive?

    • @QuickShifts
      @QuickShifts  3 года назад +3

      @@crispe824 No, not necessarily. You would need to watch for signs it is not holding a charge. Less ability to hold a charge will be obvious based on the information screen and you will see it in your mpgs. As for the cost, it would be somewhat similar to replacing a Prius battery in cost. Battery tech is rapidly evolving and costs are lowering. By the time you needed to replace it, cost could be halve of what they are today and the replacement battery may be a big improvement. Prius batteries are around a grand today depending on many variables.

      There is another battery in the luggage area to the right side that’s hidden. that will last anywhere from 3-5 years that’s a normal car battery that runs accessories. Go to the dealer or read your owner manual, this guy is giving bad information

    Thanks for the thorough review. I test drove a regular 2020 rav4 xle for about 3 weeks while my Jeep Grand Cherokee was in the shop (deer damage) and fell in love with it. Mostly because of the size and great mpg. I was able to do about 30 mpg city/hwy. I don’t have a lead foot nor drive fast at all which I’m sure helped. I’m looking to buy one of these this year and was looking to get more info on the hybrids. I haven’t a clue how they work but it sounds like you just have to watch your speed under a certain speed limit for the battery to work instead of gas which is cool. I’ve heard there are no discounts for these? Do you remember what the difference was between the limited and xse? I love the color combo you have it’s exactly what I would choose too. Thanks 😊

    • @QuickShifts
      @QuickShifts  3 года назад +3

      Thank you for watching and commenting!
      The vehicle is programmed to switch automatically between gas, electric and a combination of both based on driving conditions and your throttle input. It does a great job so all you have to do is just drive, it will handle the rest.
      There are discounts to be had on the RAV4’s. The Prime will be the toughest to negotiate though.
      There are a few differences between the XSE and the limited. The XSE is considered a “winter” package. The limited is technically a higher tier above the XSE. Only the XSE comes with the black accents and black roof. The limited is chrome accents and no painted black parts. The limited also comes with leather and a few more bells and whistles as default. In my opinion, the XSE looks much younger and appeals more to me.
      Best of luck on your hunt! I hope this answers your questions. 👍

    Xse is not the winter package. Xse means “ extreme sport edition”. SMH 🤦🏻‍♂️ it’s the only model with a sport tune suspension and the cloth blue and black softex seating, and black painted accents.

      I can see why you would think that but this is directly from Toyota:
      XSE Hybrid Optional Add-On Packages and Features
      XSE Weather Package - The XSE Weather Package includes a heated steering wheel and rain-sensing intermittent windshield wipers with a de-icer function. This package is best suited for drivers who need to battle seasonal cold weather and snow.
      Toyota being a Japanese company, doesn’t use American logic with trim levels all the time. Strange, I know. Thanks for watching and commenting though!
