@thebuddymoon Dan is the most cool, chill, semi-decent looking, happy person I've ever seen 😂 I got your back Dan, we can't let Leanne get all the gas! lol
I am from India, came across your channel today and just fell in love with how you always try to get the best from and mingle into every culture instead of going for the MacD's and KFCs in the bigger cities
Malacca(Melaka) name also stated in the Map of the World at the Monument of Discoveries in Lisbon, Portugal...In Melaka also, there is Portuguese Settlement(Perkampungan Portugis) that still exists.... 😊
Lovely to see you friends in Malacca, Indonesia visiting many historical places including the old ship used by Portuguese which had many treasures. That is a nice city to be
Don’t forget to try cendol in Penang. If you drop by Ipoh, please try the famous Tau Fu Fah - Funny Mountain and the original white coffee - Nam Heong.
Hi guys, thanks for the video. As for the cendol, you walked past a well known cendol place just after you crossed the road from the Red Square. Please try a proper cendol from the Nonya stores. The one you bought is very commercialised. Enjoy the food.👍🏼
Cendol is a drink made from beaver flour and sugar water, originating from Java, Indonesia. You will find a lot of authentic Indonesian food in Malaysia.
God blessed you both Every one who is watching your videos loves you from their bottom of their heart.., Everyone’s blessings and best wishes with you to explore everything safely and happily.. God bless both of you brother & sister.
Love all the details on the Malacca's history ❤ to add some, the St. Paul's Hill is originally where the royal palace of Sultan Melaka was before it was destroyed by the portuguese. That cendol is a fancy one 😂 if you are still in Melaka, try their famous coconut shake near Klebang. Asam pedas pari (stingray) also recommended but might be too spicy.
Welcome to my hometown! Lots to visit and explore both cultural as well as historic. Take a visit if you want to the Baba Nyonya Heritage House in Jonker Walk to learn about the Peranakan Culture. Enjoy!
You guys have done good homework about history of this town. Very informative. Great and enjoy to watch. Two thumbs up for sure. Thanks and take care of yourself guys.
That was an amazing trip to Melaca. Never been to Melaca but it has been in our to do list for a long long time. now after seeing your vlog.. I am sure I will make a trip soon. Thank you to both of you for the awesome detailed tour. You guys have explained it all so well. 👌
Another v informative vid about Melaka. I burst out laughing when Leanne innocently said the green bit of the cendol was noodles🤣🤣...looks like some green soba noodles fell into the cup.😂😂Thank you for the historical info which I never knew.
Actually, this video is probably the best I have seen of a RUclipsr presenting the colonial historic part of Malacca in a coherent and factual.manner.. The remnants of the A Famosa was actually saved from complete destruction by the British colonial authority, when Sir Stamford Raffles of Singapore, intervened to put a stop to destroying of historic structures. His intervention came rather late.
Thank you guys for making these vlogs! For me watching you both is super refreshing! especially with the way the world is evolving ❤ Ps. Been binge watching your videos since May :p Love the vibes!
Hi. Greetings from Melaka . Hope you enjoyed visiting the state. Few information I like to share with you. 1. Portuguese built the fort almost immediately after they won the battle against Melaka Sultanate, its because Sultan launched a counter attack. It was built using forced labour of the locals, and coral stones found along the coast. A Famosa was destroyed during British era. A high commisioner saw the demolition in progress and stopped it. Otherwise, the Fort entrance may not be there at all today. 2. According to history, Stadhuys was originally white. But during the time many people were chewing betel nut, which caused your mouth and saliva to red. And they spit everywhere, including the walls which later appeared as red. After independence the building were painted white again but sometime in the 1980s the government decided to paint it back as red. It was used as government offices, including the court of law until a new proper state government office was built not far from there. 3. The Flor de La Mar replica ship would not be able to carry 500 people, actual size is reported to be 3-5 times bigger than the replica. One reason its hard to manouvre when fully loaded. MoreI info about it in Wikipedia. 4. The place where you bought the Cendol is the beginning of Jonker street, or China town of Melaka. Imagine hundreds of years ago that's the place where the seaman will go to look for food. And have some fun, if you know what I mean. 5. Cendol and ais kacang (aka ABC) is quite closely related but cendol also has evolved over the years to include either sweet corn, sticky rice or durian. Of course back in the old days there was no ice, so it was serve as it is....on its own with brown sugar and perhaps red bean. Do come back again.
Not sure if you have already done so, but visit Mauritius as well. Colonized by Dutch, French and English settlers. From Mauritz Van Nassau (where Mauritius gets its name) to the last British Governor Sir John Shaw Rennie, through slavery and indentureship, Mauritius is a country full of history and culture (through the years of settlement.)
This was top notch super pro vlog. it felt like a nat geo documentary. really impressed with this episode. ive learned so much from you especially about the stadhuys, didnt realize that there were dutch who also ruled south africa. MELAKA is really the historical city state of MALAYSIA. the founding father started the country from this state actually. but historically accurate version, it was first founded ancient chola dynasty from south india who first landed in the state of kedah which was known as kadaram back then. it was at least generation later that PARAMESWARA founded melaka as per what is taught in school history tho.
That cendol looks like my nightmare. I keep worrying our sg food will get more n more processed till we end up with Macdonald's!! Try d street food type of cendol.
Yes....that cendol doesn't look auntentic at all....looks like ice cendolised ice blended to me.... Try the original version of cendol....the watery type...with only small amount of shaved iced but full of delicious coconut milk...where the cendol can happily swiming in ..find them on the road side guys...please
The last time i was in Malacca and at this place.... around a year ago..... The inner part of the church was under restoration.... least it's good that you are able to explore the whole area....Nice to see and hear from a different perspective who has never been here before..... Enjoy your stay in Malacca .. Cheers mate!
You should see St Peter church in melaka built in 1710. It's also by portuguese. It's a bit further from the city center as it was meant to be built in secret when the dutch came.
The expression on the thumbnail is super cute 😂😂😂 but seeing that i might not try cendol..😅 ingredients used in cendol doesn't seem good for indian tastebuds..😅😅😅
kalau dia fikir dia ada hak utk harta yg diangkut Portugal, dia pasti sedar dia punya hak mewarisi dosa nenek moyang moyot dia yg menyebabkan pembunuhan dan penindasan oleh potugis, hutang darah dibayar darah, setuju... jangan terlalu bangga berjalan di kota pembinaan potugis kerana jauh di bawah perut bumi melaka tertanam puing2 kota Melaka yg jd rebutan penjajah

Lovely video!! Cendol is amazing! Coconut milk + cane sugar with jelly bits. That's it. But RM8 was too high a price (tourist price) :)
