His best friend "Bhola" was imprisoned in this jail for many years and he went crazy - due to the torture that he had to sustain. I had heard stories about the cruelty in this prison - meted out to Indians by the British growing up as a child. Today - in viewing your video it all came to light. Oh my gosh ...it was emotional for me to watch this. Thank you. @theBuddymoon

Welcome back to India! 🇮🇳 Some backstory on Limca and thums up. Now both these drinks are owned by Coca-Cola. Limca is not a rip-off of sprite, but it’s inspired by another discontinued indian drink called Duke’s lemonade which is older than sprite in fact. Thums up is another cola, which was there from the times coke was not there in Indian market. In short, these are not cheap, plagiarized products, they’re just different and more local 🍻
In short, they are not limited to Andaman and Nicobar Islands. These are Coca Cola products. Don't understand how they both missed such a big Coke logo and trademark on the cans.😉

The four wings were not demolished by the Indian government they were damaged and bombed by the Japanese when they took control and the materials which they got from that was used to build several Japanese bunkers which still exist and are spread all across the island the fully damaged wings which were dangerous and were in the stage to collapse were removed in terms of public safety and to build a hospital the rest three wings which were in good shape were preserved. The appeal which you are talking about was made by the people to the government for making the Cellular jail a heritage site. Jai Hind🇮🇳

0:50 The information is wrong, it was liberated by Indian Army along with Japanese forces under Subhash Bose who was the first Prime Minister of India. The Britishers even lost control of Myanmar (back then Burma) and some parts of North-east India to the new government of India. It was never occupied by Japan, according to agreement between Bose and Japan: India will remain neutral and continue to liberate itself from British in return Japan would help India. The dynamics was Japan and British were in the opposite sides of war and one’s loss is another gain. losing Andamn and Nicobar costs a huge logistics loss to British in WW2
First Indian empire to establish relation with this islands is Chola Empire of India , long before British rule. Btw , you should visit Havelock and Neil island too. They have beautiful beaches , resort ( Taj ) and sea food too. Radhanagar beach is awarded as best beach of Asia title holder and 5th most beautiful beach of Asia overall I think. Kalapathar beach is my favourite though , it almost feels like we are in Thailand or Caribbean.

The dark brown sweet is called Gulab “Jamun” whereas you’re pronouncing it as “Juman” … try saying “jamoon” to get it right 😊. Thums Up and Limca are Indian soft drink brands (not just local to the islands) that were acquired by Coca Cola Company and are now sold by them. If you see the fine print on the cans, it’s written there. 👍🏻

We saw that part but didnt put it in the video as we had no research on it😮 due to not having a simcard😮 but sad what people had to go through there
@@thebuddymoon they were your ancestor who did bad things to our freedom fighter
Vera sarvarkar ji contribution our some peaceful community and congress supporters don't like because he always india want to hindu country after giving Muslims Pakistan. But neharu and the team want a peaceful community as their vote bank, then they strated damage savarkar character like he wrote composition later to brtish. But in that same way, neharu jailed for just 6 months. In that time, his father most famous lawyer wrote composition later to British, and then within 3 days, they released neharu, but that incident they hinded in history book. even 3 day's neharu can't survive in jail they talking about savarkar, who jailed for 50 years. 50 yaers is savarker total punishment given brtish . But after10 year's torched him and then released.
Thanks a lot guys for nice video and ofcourse your friendly presentation.❤

The picture you have shown of *Veer Savarkar* is actually of an Indian Bollywood actor, *Randeep Hooda*, who played the role of Veer Savarkar in the movie "Swatantra Veer Savarkar".
14:49 just for the info the photograph used for Veer Savarkar is an Indian actor (Randeep hooda) portraying him
Veer Savarkar was a hero we were made to forget ! The photo you showed was of the actor (Randeep Hooda) playing Veer Savarkar in his upcoming biography. Thanks a lot for showing us the place where he was kept as a prisoner for 10 years !

Watching this was very emotional for me ,
My Salute and Thanks to all our freedom fighters 🙏
I was very very touched by your video. Here's why? My own grandfather was a freedom fighter fighting the English....till India got it's freedom in 1947.
Sorry to hear this but thank you for your grandfather and his friend and many people like that who helped us in getting freedom
India has the biggest river island in Assam, known as Majuli Island
🇮🇳 Welcome back to India. 🙏. The Cellular Jail you toured is of huge significance to Indians. As Veer Savarkar & other freedom fighters were tortured & chained here by the British during the Raj. Escape was impossible. Savarkar & other inmates were chained to the wooden oil mill and made to churn oil, a form of brutal punishment. Thanks for the video. Vande Mataram.

Loved the episode! Never been to either of the big islands but this video makes me wanna go there so bad. Honestly, if the temperature and sky are like that for a good part of the year, I'm already planning a long vacation there.
I wonder if they've beaches like the Maldives, cause they're somewhat close.

So much potential these islands has to attract more foreign tourists. Lot of infrastructure upliftment and advertisement need to happen to popularise these places like the mainland India.
Welcome back to India. Beautiful video. There is another island off the West Coast of India called Lakshadweep Island. Perhaps you might like to see that island too

Welcome back to India! 🇮🇳
Some backstory on Limca and thums up.
The amount of work in your video is genuinely impressive.
The music, the voice over, explanation, videography felt like I'm seeing a Documentary. Great work you two ❤️👏🏻

The dark brown sweet is called Gulab “Jamun” whereas you’re pronouncing it as “Juman” … try saying “jamoon” to get it right 😊.
Thums Up and Limca are Indian soft drink brands (not just local to the islands) that were acquired by Coca Cola Company and are now sold by them. If you see the fine print on the cans, it’s written there. 👍🏻
@thebuddymoon Also Gulab is Rose in Persian, & Jamun is a plum-fruit.
So the Rose-coloured Plum-shaped sweet is called Gulab-Jamun.
Its a North-Indian sweet.
