I watched the Champions as a child and have caught up with as many episodes as I can find on youtube. I was also fortunate enough to see her at the Key Theatre in Peterborough several years ago. An absolutely stunningly beautiful woman, even as a young boy of about 8 or 9 when the Champions first appeared on TV, her beauty didn't escape me.
Rest in peace ms Bastedo I only wish your Champion series had lasted another season you were an extraordinary woman and the world will not see anyone like you again
What a pity this ladies life came to an end last Sunday. The Champions was one of the ITC programmes that I watched as I grew up during the sixties.RIP Alexandra - Actresses of your class are a rare species...x
used to watch the champions as a kid and always thought she was very attractive but she is so much more than that, what an absolute beauty inside and out! a real class act
when she was in the champions I was 15 and she was all i thought about. She is still GORGEOUS? Like a quality bottle of red wine now mature and better than ever
After they were famous? I hope AB is remembered for many years to come! In that sense, she will always be "famous". Wonderful person! Her animal sanctuary continues to this day.
I just rediscovered The Champions here in You Tube (All Of Season One). I honestly have a vague memory being a kid of 12-13 years old. I actually don't remember the episodes but did remember their mystical powers from the monks. And of course was mesmerized by Alexandra's beauty 35 years later. R.I.P. Alexandra!!!!
She was my champion ,sad her husband passed away 2013 then 2014 she passed away too. She had a good stable marriage and not with some movie star going through women as though they are nothing. I wonder what happened to all her animals god bless her. May you and your husband have eternal peace and still together. You are truly missed always
"...and those cut glass vowels." It's true! On watching the show, I instantly saw she was a babe but only gradually did it dawn on me how upper class she was behind the dazzle. A real deal lady of the realm. Love how she slams most of her would-be famous lovers as "not marriageable material" :D What's a "pove" girl? (2:07)
It was a registered charity and still exists as the ABC Animal Sanctuary. it is run by volunteers, and there are some public events are held there every year. The trust has a website.
When TV was the greatest, when woman were women and music was music. Where did it all go wrong, God only knows too much american input. I guess. Now a days TV is absolute rubbish, people's morals go out the window at first sign of money and fame. Music well its very rare to have the talent that we got to see in the 60s and 70s, Most of today's music is talentless and nothing but poor quality with some foul language thrown in along with videos which accompany the so called music being obscene, I guess this is the only way for the record company's to sell the poor quality of music that is being produced.
True or false? The bus driver Edie McCredie from the BBC Children's TV show Balamory was based on Sharon MacReady out of The Champions. Edie had supernatural powers, just like Sharon, and could slide down a fireman's pole without chaffing the inside of her thighs.
She was an accomplished actress, and one who cared for the animals. By that measure she will always be one of "The Champions"in life.
THE most beautiful woman that I have ever seen in my life!!!!1 She is a GODDESS! I'm in love!!

I was smitten by Ms Bastedo as a kid-so much so that she almost knocked Diana Rigg off the number one spot as my favourite TV crush !
