Glen the pianist was supposed to play “Release me “ but played another song instead ! Elvis 👑 didn’t miss a beat a note or anything! Unbelievable! Thank you for catching it ! Most reactors don’t unfortunately! ❤
Elvis threw a cup of water on Glen Hardin during his performance of Big Hunk O Love when he was playing the piano amazingly from the Aloha concert. They both laughed about it. It's obvious they had a good relationship.
Elvis is up there, rolling the words to the song around in his head, and Wham!, different song starts. Elvis starts, without a flaw. Even though you can see he is genuinely a little ticked, but didn't let the audience see it. Any other entertainer back then would have stopped until the band played the right one. Maybe made a little joke about it. Elvis was good enough to go with it, all the while changing the words in his head. It's not easy to do. That's why they rehears. Things are done Elvis's way and the singers never take their eye off him. Maybe this was a double prank. Maybe they expected him to stop and make a joke, or just look at them. But instead he went with it, so they had to too. Either way, Elvis won!
When Elvis sings, his powerful voice and emotional delivery create a sense of intimacy that makes it feel like he is singing directly to you. His ability to connect with the listener on a personal level is a testament to his talent and the genuine passion he brought to his performances.
He had Avery good sense of humor!! This shows how great he was! Never missed a beat!! How many entertainers could have done this! This is another reason why we call him THE KING!! Very funny and good reaction!!
Fantastic as always....Elvis is the one. The rehearsals were known for having fun...and water being tossed on each other was not uncommon. The musicians and backup singers knew they had to always keep their eyes on him because they never knew what he might do on stage including changing the order of songs being played.
It just shows what a professional and how on it he was as he has to go straight into this one and he does it without missing a beat. I love that expression on his face and it must have been such fun for the audience to see them all interacting with each other on stage😍
I became friends with Charlie Hodge his confidant and best friend for years after Elvis died n he told me many great stories about Elvis over the years. I met Glenn one time with Charlie after EP died. Glenn n Elvis had a great relationship over the years( well also with his band)Glenn spent many after hours with EP rearranging songs esp American Trilogy. Charlie said Elvis was always joking around such as pulling out a water pistol esp in rehearsals. He didn't like sitting around on movie sets so often he would fill alot of water balloons n start fights with his friends. Producers were not too happy with him. He was never serious about things. He also knew they better not say anything to him as he may just call it a day n go. I still have my journal that I kept of all kinds of stories esp things that happened back stage. I love your reactions. Yes im old now but Elvis music keeps me young. Keep up the good work. 👍
I just love that Elvis is so comfortable with his bandmates/backup singers and his audience to be this playful because most artists are, especially today, looking for the perfect choreographed, no mistakes, everything is right performance that the beauty of a relaxed performance is lost.
My son and I were just at Graceland Father’s Day weekend for two days had a blast and got to hold. Elvis is a pair of Elvis’s boots because I had the ultimate VIP pass, of course.
Listen to Elvis’ first words; Elvis announced “Please Release me...” just prior to jumping into “I Can’t Stop Loving You”. Who was off...who knows... but they pulled it off, and Elvis started with more power than I’ve ever heard him start this song b4.
At the very, very start of the video Elvis called out “Please Release Me” but the band began playing “I Can’t Stop Loving You” - he didn’t stop them, he went right into the song, he then walked over to his glass of water, picked it up & playfully threw it at Glen @ piano -- & so the irritated expression. I've been recommending this forever to everyone -- thefun & his rich powerful voice shouldn't be overlooked.,
The story is true... And actually they went back-and-forth often. Elvis would also throw the band by yelling out a song that was out of the blue but the band always came through. The band was tight and always came through with a strong performance along with Elvis. Elvis once said that it was very important to him as well as the band, to perform each concert as if it was the first time the audience had ever seen them. So Elvis and the TCB band always gave 1000%. Also the going back and forth between Elvis and the band kept it fun and entertaining not only for the audience but also for them.
One of those great 1972 Hampton Roads performances that i'm always recommending; but many people do not realize what happened that due to his calling out "Please Release Me" & their playing "I Can't Stop Loving You" was cause for the water throwing. Anything he did on stage was great -- reading lyrics from a lyric sheet, making mistakes -- he could do no wrong & was always fun to watch. Also notice his little look of irritation on his face @ beginning.
Susie might be on to something because Elvis was known to switch up songs from the Playlist. I've read in stories about Elvis and the band that Glen made a mistake and played the wrong song. Elvis was annoyed but got over it. Glen, Jerry and James are still alive they would know. Love watching your reactions ❤ because you love Elvis 💘
I'm so glad that you are back with some more ELVIS! I was so excited to see that, I almost tripped over my throw to respond! ELVIS is always so smooth! I love this man! Who wouldn't? Thank you for reacting to the GOAT! ❤
This is such a fun video and Elvis is superb as always. His voice is so strong and he is having fun. Thanks for this one. I love all of your Elvis reactions and have watched them multiple times. You 2 are just great.👍🔥❤️💖
Another song from the movie Harum Sacrum called paradise is mine he is singing in jail by a window. Elvis was my first love as a little girl. He altered the course of my life by the friendships I’ve made through Elvis it’s like he is family. It’s a love so deep despite his flaws in the long run they don’t matter. I was flawed as well. He gave me a feeling of indescribable joy. Have never felt anything so profound in my lifetime. He was a gift and I have been so blessed to have had the honor of loving him as Elvis the man and not the iconic persona. He will remain till my death the hero I saw at five years old. What a gift…. What a gift ❤️❤️
@@kennethword6533 Everyone knew Elvis was great, but I just loved it when Ronnie got recognition. He was so enthusiastic playing drums. Ronnie said many positive things about Elvis.
I watch your Elvis reviews constantly! My name is Donna and have adored Elvis since I’m five and that was 60 years ago. Seeing him live greatest moments of my life. Try My Boy the video where Elvis sings to his dead grandson Benjamin . Get tissues
he did that more to glenn, throwing water at him , did it also at aloha from hawaii a big hunk o'love . guys just having pure fun . and staying proffessional
At the beginning, Elvis requested "please release me" and the whole band played a joke on him by playing a different song, but he didn't miss a beat and that was the reaction you guys saw when he was smiling and shaking his head. His whole band was as crazy as him, that could've gone very wrong, and throwing water near electrical equipment is downright insane.
Sorry I Missed your comments setting up the beginning lol. But when Elvis tells the back up singers, “they have the easy part”, that was certainty a sign that “the switch out” was demanding but much more on him.
Glen made a mistake. Because if you were to watch the whole Elvis On Tour DVD on the next song the camera goes to Glen’s face and you can see on his face he knew he made a mistake.
The song was suppose to be "Please release me." Glenn was in the wrong in starting to play what he did n Elvis just went along with it because Elvis would never call someone out. He would just go along with it. Elvis playfully threw water at Glenn to let him know he didn't play the correct song, but Elvis never took things that seriously....
Man... you heavy weirdo's and thats a compliment by the way!!! React to a beautiful voice... Ella fitzgerald's .. Everytime we say goodbye.... and when the nukes appear??? Hahaha🙏👍⚘️❤️😁
OR ....It could be that Glen was confused about the song because he was getting a case of heat stroke and Elvis threw the water on him to save his life. ...Yeah, I'll bet THAT'S what it was. Lol !
I get it he was good looking to most women and sexy to others he had a good voice and played guitar a little I use to watch his silly movies, but the truth is aside from co writeing one song his whole career was spent covering others music he never wrote anything.
The please release me song was a way more easier song to sing .... hence Elvis says , You've got the easy part to his backing singers ...... what a Great King he is
Remember when Ashley Simpson had a meltdown on SNL when her band played the wrong song. This shows who is the professional and who is an auto tune no talent amateur.
Guys, this is the first time I've heard you play music, while you're speaking.... Please don't do that---it's terribly distracting; I wanna hear ONLY YOU!
Glenn was obviously not happy about Elvis' reaction. He looked seriously pissed off in a later song. Remember that 1972 was pretty much the year Elvis's behavior/character began to change (not just on stage) due to his prescription drug intake. In Elvis On Tour you can hear that almost all the songs are played in a much faster tempo than usual and especially in the scenes in the car you can hear Elvis slurred speech. In other, short, scenes behind the scenes Elvis makes some raw comments about some girls he apparently spent time with. It was all on camera and tons of witnesses around him and everybody "laughed their heads off", but it was a signal that because of the drugs he let his guard down, sometimes in less appropriate ways.
I think you're reading too much into it. Elvis always did banter on stage. And elvis didn't start having off the wall antics until after the aloha from Hawaii show. From 74 onward but 72 was still a great year
@hounddog1956 Seriously? No slurred speech in the car? When he asked the sheriff or whatever lawmaker was in the car with them if that was when they put him in the paddy wagon, or the scene right after the show when he asked "How wasssszzz the sszzzound?" and Joe, of course, said it was great; "Good show, good show". Please, get real. I've been an Elvis fan for decades now, but I don't see him through rose colored glasses. Glenn really looked pissed off a scene or two later, if you can't see that, go visit an optometrist.
Lmao..it's the drugs!!! Like he shot himself crazy with heroin like all the big rock bands did for years but u don't hear squat about that. Oh no he took something to wake up like we all did back then. If the drugs had him that night he was extremely alert and didn't miss a beat. It definitely was a prank they did pranks all the time....😅😅
Some of this is difficult to interpret and I do sincerely believe this was a prank as not only Glen, but the entire band appears to be in on it. If you look at Charlie Hodge to the right as Elvis strolls over to the water cup, he is laughing uproariously. And the rest of the band launches into the song along with Glen. Only Elvis and the backup singers appear surprised. As for his "issues" - while Elvis was taking prescription pills at the time to self-regulate, it really accelerated after Aloha - even before he left Hawaii. I agree that personal issues (Priscilla) and health issues caused by poor diet, pills, poor sleep, etc were starting to take their toll much sooner though.

What a freakN Mans voice! Elvis…wow!
Elvis was great. It was all in fun.
Ronnie Tutt was an awesome drummer. He kept the Elvis vibe going. Ronnie was a vital part to Elvis’ live performances.

This was a prank on Elvis. Elvis pranked the guys and girls of his band all the time and this was a get even time.
He was 1000% raw talent. His ability to joke around and still hit every note - just awesome 🥰😍
Amo o show de Hampton Road. Ele esta tão solto no palco ❤️👏👏👏👏
❤️EP the best ever!
It definitely looks like he was reacting to a prank 😂
Love love your reaction. More Elvis please 💕💕💕💕
He was absolutely gorgeous!❤️

It's absolutely amazing how quickly Elvis caught on, he nailed the first note. What fun!
Awesome cool song yay, Elvis the man, 🎤👍😎🤘
Old trouser snake approves of this video...Elvis and band are having fun
elvis the king
he did that more to glenn, throwing water at him , did it also at aloha from hawaii a big hunk o'love . guys just having pure fun . and staying proffessional
He said Please Release Me & they started playing I Cant Stop Loving You.
I just can't I heard this song numerous time and it sounds new every time! The king 🤴welcome back guys more Elvis please !❤
Great fun reaction as per usual on a song I think Elvis called wrong but what do I know.

That was awesome. Clearly some pranking going on. 😀
Elvis ❤
It sounded like Elvis wanted to sing Please Release Me and the band started this one.
🔥🔥🔥 I love love love this!!
Great Reaction
That is Sissy Houston, Whitney's mother, singing with the Sweet Inspirations behind Elvis, and props to Ronnie Tutt on drums
Elvis at peak vocals here.
Good song thank you 👍❤
Elvis says "PLEASE RELEASE ME" but the pianist Glen Hardin went on "I CAN'T STOP LOVING YOU" thus Elvis' behaviour. Hilarious!
He has the best drummer.
I was at that concert!
Don't over think this exchange, It's just Elvis being Elvis!!!!
aloha hawaii the song a bik hunk off love elvis throw water olso
Sorry I Missed your comments setting up the beginning lol.
But when Elvis tells the back up singers, “they have the easy part”, that was certainty a sign that “the switch out” was demanding but much more on him.
Elvis use to throw water on poor Glen every now and then ...That wasn't the first time , nor the last. I think Elvis was trying to drown Glen. Lol !
Glen made a mistake.
Because if you were to watch the whole Elvis On Tour DVD on the next song the camera goes to Glen’s face and you can see on his face he knew he made a mistake.

I think he missed the first nate lol
Think Glen pranked Elvis…and elvis was always up for prank..whether giving them out or receiving.
