The Funniest part of this story is about Elvis on his own trying to get around..... He had no idea what to do. The story of him at the Donut shop at 2 AM is outrageous

President Nixon gifted Elvis and his friends gifts. Elvis then said to the president, Mr President, they have wives. And the wives all got gifts 😅😅😅😅

Elvis was a man of the people. He always demanded that the first 5-10 rows on his concerts, were filled with «normal» people, not celebrities or «big shots». He talked to janitors, to security, the «average Joe’s and Jane’s», just lifting people’s spirits by taking the time. Genuine, generous to a fault, a phenomenal entertainer, able to tap in to people’s emotions like no one else has ever done. 46 years after his death, he is more interesting than 1000 other artists combined.

There is so much more to the story. Elvis gave Nixon 2 guns from the civrl war as a gift. And he nearly did not get on the plane because he had a gun on him at the steward would not allow ot. But Elvis asked to talk to the pilot, and he was really happy to talk to Elvis and lod him take the gun on board 😂 Different times 😊
Also when him a Shilling drove around in L.A , Elvis suddenly jumped out of the car and went into a donot shop in a bad part of town to buy some donots. A group of gang like young guys surrounded Elvis, star struk and among other things said "that is some nice juwelry you got on". Elvis pulled his coat to the side, showing his gun and smiled while saying "Yes it is, and I intend to keep them"😂 Everybody laughed and said yes, yes of couse Elvis and Elvis said goodby and went out again with the donots.
This story is also on RUclips somewhere.

I listened the Sonny West talk that he gave about Elvis, and he told that story too. I almost peed myself listening to it, it was so funny when he said Elvis was looking through his drawer, he asked Nixon to give their wives a gift too (if you watched it before you’ll know what I’m talking about), etc. 😂 I could just imagine Southern Elvis being like that, being so blunt and funny and not realizing it😂😂 idk how to explain it
And also Sonny told a story about a prank that they pulled, they pretended Elvis got a death threat and pulled a gunfight prank on a couple people🤣😂 I could NOT contain myself, they pretended Elvis got shot, etc. You’ll have to watch it (PLEASE DO) but it was one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard in my life. Could someone suggest that they listen to the whole hour-long talk/speech by Sonny West, please? It’s somewhere along the lines of Elvis up close and personal by Sonny West

And ** Elvis Presley ( King Of Kindness ) Who else can say they helped end Polio and helped raise money and gave of his own money to build the first well known hospital ST JUDE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL..NO ONE ONLY ELVIS CAN!!!!

If you're doing this kind of content, there are so many things available. One is an interview with his early era drummer DJ Fontana and the whole story of that is amazing in and of itself, but DJ was such an incredible guy. And there is an interview when he is older, well actually there are a few but there's one when he's more middle-aged, and it's just delightful.
And there is a lot of behind the scenes footage, a lot of it around his Vegas residency but one of my favorites is when Elvis is working out the arrangement to Bridge Over Troubled water. He may not have written his own material but apart from being an incredible interpreter, he was a brilliant arranger. And what I like about it is you see that on the one hand they work really hard, but on the other, they have fun. It's fun for me to watch that and then watch the actual performance not long after, the iconic video of 1970 live in Vegas of him doing that, and I'm pretty sure you guys have reacted to that.

Yes, I just looked it up. Gary Schilling did over see and give input into the movie , an Amazon Original Elvis & Nixon. With Kevin Spacey as President Nixon. And Michael Shannon playing Elvis. It’s really done well. I’ve watched it several times. Don’t bother watching the other spoof movie out there about Elvis meeting Nixon, it’s crap. But the one done by Amazon is the most accurate portrayal of what actually occurred. You should also look up Sonny West talking about the meeting. Actually Sonny did a presentation to a small group of people, it’s on RUclips, where he talks about several stories with Elvis. So funny. Sonny is wearing a light purple shirt, or one may say lavender. I know y’all will enjoy it.

Sadly, Elvis was a drug addict--on prescription medications. He had so much stuff in his body at the end that the results are mind-boggling. He had a pill doctor, who later lost his license, who would order anything he wanted, and a local Memphis pharmacy for round-the-clock deliveries. He was not in the greatest financial shape at the end, as he supported a large retinue of hangers-on, and Parker, who took half of everything he made, kept him working on tour until the end. He got out of bed, went into the bathroom, and his body finally gave out on him.

Elvis started using drugs in the army back in 1958. Check this out In 1970 Elvis writes to President Nixon (the I am not a crook guy) and offers his services to help combat illicit drug use in the USA. Elvis mentioned that he knew a lot about drugs and was accepted by the hippies. He said he could go right into a group of young people or hippies and be accepted which he felt could be helpful to him in his drug drive. Nixon and Elvis exchanged pleasantries and agreed that “those who use drugs are in the vanguard of American protest.” In 1977 Elvis dies of drug overdose and drug abuse. Putting Elvis in charge of speaking on narcotic abuse is like leaving Dracula in charge of the blood bank. Hypocrisy: What is an example of hypocrisy? People who tell you not to eat candy while they chomp away on candy all day.

He was boyish, for sure, but that was part of his appeal. He also had a very mature man side, and was in touch with his feminine side. All of these facets added up to the fascinating enigma that was Elvis. He will always be incomparable and inimitable.

Elvis was a black belt in Karate. You might not get away with calling him a boy in a man's body face to face! There are videos on RUclips of Elvis taking on a stupid heckler in Vegas I believe.
Elvis ' motto, don't come for some unless you want some. He was no pushover. Know 😜 that!😊

    • @timcarr6401
      @timcarr6401 Год назад +1

@@brendahipsher273 I wasn't referencing his physically, but his mental immaturity. He was like an 11 year old who wanted a badge so badly and desired to flaunt it at every opportunity.
His self-destructive behavior and completely reckless spending were also signs of not quite growing into manhood.
There have been many who were dear friends of Elvis who have said the same as I have: Ann-Margret, Linda Thompson, Sonny West, Red West, Charlie Hodge, and Jerry Schilling himself --the list is long.
I am not trying to demean his character or ignore his various virtues. I'm just stating a common observation.
