  • Craig Stadler was a very talented player at an early age & I enjoyed watching him on the PGA Tour while I was a young golfer. He won the 1973 U.S. Amateur, while attending the University of Southern California.
Stadler won his first two PGA Tour events in 1980, at the Bob Hope Desert Classic and the Greater Greensboro Open. His career year was 1982 when he won four PGA Tour events including The Masters after a playoff with Dan Pohl. Stadler won the B.C. Open in 2003, becoming the first player over age 50 to win a PGA Tour event in 28 years. He won 13 PGA Tour events in all, and played on the 1983 and 1985 Ryder Cup teams. These days, you will find him competing on the Champions Tour.
I am honored to have a video of Craig at this years SAS Championship. I hope to see him again at next years SAS Championship.

I saw him hit a fade on 18 at the Woodlands with a 4 iron to tucked away right pin from 220 or so after hitting a monster drive and puts it 3 ft away that's when I knew I didn't have what it takes 😂

Yeah no you didn’t. In 2007 I saw him shank a 3 iron into wind from about 200. Sliced about 150 and nailed the cart girl. She was ok. We laughed and he proceeded to flick us off and then dropped his pants down and pissed for about 25 seconds in the fairway bunker. Absolutely no shame in this man.

My dad was his pro am partner one year at the old Andy Williams San Diego Open. Said he was a great guy. On one hole at Torrey Pines, a fan bet Stads 20 bucks that he couldn’t drive one into the ocean, which he proceeded to do. Everyone saw the ball clear the beach and make a splash. My dad asked him about it afterwards as they walked down the fairway and Stads says ‘Yeah, that’s easy money. My caddie measured it a couple years ago - it’s just 295 yards down the cliff from that tee box, and if you put a little fade on it the wind takes it over the waterline every time’. 😊
