Having tried to cop all his three note per string shred in the early 90s and then followed his footsteps to GIT, it is so beautiful to see the mature musicality, clean technique and incredible love of expressive imaginative exploration on display. True mastery. I bow down to you, Paul. This is story telling of a lifetime obsession and love.
Paul was the reason i changed from economy picking to alternate picking. Incredibly talented guitarist. My only gripe these days is his Tone. He had such a unique and beautiful tone when he used Laney Amps. Still dont understand why he switched to Marshall.....
@@justsumguy2u His reach is crazy, too! That's the thing which has always stood out for me - he uses his little finger way more than a lot of top guitarists.
I Luv Paul for his abundant youthful talent in Mr Big and Racer X but his Imitators are now better than he is. Don’t believe me? They’re all over the Internet.
That’s pretty arrogant considering the guitar community you’re addressing . Paul is incredible but none of this playing would have been even thought of before Eddie or Randy Rhodes . Paul will even tell you that Eddie completely changed how guitar was played and all of us younger shredders learned a whole new language and appreciation for speed and technique . Remember all of the great post Eddie guitar players were all influenced by Eddie or Randy so really on the shoulders of giants ie Eddie and Randy .Nothing against Paul but he has built his soloing platform on top of the latter two guitarists .
Paul never created anything close to what Eddie did. Music is about composing and he is nothing compared to Eddie and many others. As far as playing guitar, scales, other people's music (because his ain't worth much) yes, he is a better player, but also took many things from Eddie's playing, but at the end EVH is a giant of music, and Paul Gilbert is a dwarf, no matter how faster, cleaner he can play.
@@Eddu13mr big where huge. Racer X was the freak guitar band. Paul’s compositional brain is incredible, you think technical difficulties is amateur composition? Van halen couldn’t write that AND definitely couldn’t play it lol I love em both personally though! But In comparison Paul’s a monster and eddies a dwarf that pioneered.
Paul is like a barrel of whiskey. He gets so much better and smoother with age!
Out of all the metal shredders, Paul is by far one of the most gifted AND tasteful.

The best thing about PG is that he combines virtuosity with a fantastic melodicism. That's what makes his solo so good.
I completely agree. He knows exactly when to hold back and let a strong melody breath.
Just perfect ...like always
I love Paul with his scales
00:50 Rocky theme rendition here is amazing!
@@BrandonBriers Yes! I love how he plays it 😁

This is why PG is GOAT
did not know they were playing dublin.....missed it :(
@stussho Ah, that's too bad. It was an excellent gig 🫤
Same here. Bummed. 😢
What's the melody starting at 2:07? I recognize it, but can't place it.
Sounds a bit like "message in a bottle"
The Whole World's Gonna Know by Mr. Big
Судя по этому видео - Гилберт умеет быстро ....и даже очень быстро извлекать всякие звуки из гитары.😂 Но почему это назвали - соло?
Nothing like PG
😮😮😮😮😮🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
見た目大学教授みたいなのにギター上手くてカッコいい
I play guitar, and it blows my mind that someone's fretting hand can be that fast. It makes me want to put my guitar down lol

What's the song of 0:48?
Cowboy Song by Thin Lizzy!
Buckethead without the bucket 🪣
@@markr1070 Paul was his teacher for a while!
Paul himself admits he has no identity regarding his vibrato unlike Blackmore.
unlike Malmsteen

He’s no Cory Feldmen
😂
That is a true statement.😂
Not quite Racer X though......
He actually seems a bit sloppier than normal here to be honest.
Anal taluai
Better than Eddie could ever be. Just sayin
