Mulligan awesome I look forward to the upload, imma subscribe so I don’t miss it. I agree making your own deck is literally the most fun part of a card game even if it fails lol
Really good guide. I haven't played a CCG since Hearthstone(stopped playing after the expansion after Blackrock; forgot the name). Part of me always love playing card games, but often times the game evolves to a point where it isn't enjoyable for me personally(Hearthstone post-Blackrock, Yugioh post-5Ds). I hope I fall in love with this game and hopefully stick with it long term.
I’m curious about two things: firstly, how exactly does spell resolution work? You explained that it’s a stack, resolving the the opposite of the order they were cast, but I’m wondering how similar to Magic the system is in other regards. Do you declare targets as you cast a spell or as it resolves? If a spell has no valid target as it resolves, is it countered or do any other effects it has still trigger? Secondly, when does a turn end? If you’re the attacker and you pass priority and your opponent passes as well, do you still get a chance to attack? Who gets the “final chance” to cast a spell before the turn ends? And is there an “end step” in which you can cast fast spells but not slow ones or units? Overall, this guide was super helpful, I’m just curious about he more nuanced aspects of the game
Thanks for the comment. I'll do my best to answer these since there are a lot of interesting nuances, especially when compared to Magic. You declare targets as you cast the spell. You don't get another chance to "re-target" at any point. So, if the spell no longer has a valid target as it resolves, it's effectively "countered" (it literally just fizzles away). Other effects can still trigger on a few of the spells depending on what else the spell does, but most will just fizzle. Statikk Shock is the only one I can think of right now where that can happen if one target is the actual Nexus, but I know there are a few more. A turn ends when both players elect to pass. So, even if you're the attacker, if you pass before you attack and your opponent also decides to pass, the turn will end. The second person that passes gets the last chance to cast a spell before a turn ends since both players have to pass for a turn to end. There is an "end step" in the sense that after combat, each player will get another action to cast a spell of any speed or play another unit and it will continue until both players pass.
Expedition is great if you're the type of player that never wants to see the same thing twice since you never know exactly what deck you'll be up against, even if you have good knowledge of the deck types in Expedition. It's a great way to build your collection too if you've got a few hours to do some trials :)

You don't need to. I've literally played one game of LoL in my entire life and the game was still easy to get into. Although as you learn more about LoL characters, you'll find out why certain cards do what they do :P
@@HighLanderPonyYT I've been messing with it. It's alright. The versions that don't focus on actually decking your opponent out and are more about the big boys seem to be better so far.
2:13 This part is a little bit innaccurate. You can respond even to an action that doesn't involve your opponent playing a card. For example, if they just attack without playing anything extra, you can respond to that with a fast spell. Well put together guide otherwise. :)
If a card has Plunder, when you play it, the Plunder effect will happen but only if you already damaged the enemy Nexus earlier in that round. The most common scenario is going to be after you've attacked with your units and one of your units managed to hit the enemy Nexus.
Hi mulligan, great vid once again, i've been gone for a while since i was waiting for the official release in my region. Are there any good decks you'd recommend for a beginner?
Burn Aggro (Jinx/Draven) has been the deck a lot of players agree is good for beginners and is the fastest deck to climb ladder with. But, I think there are other good decks you can build with the champions you got from your starter decks. Spider Aggro is also pretty good (Elise/Darius) though not quite as fast as Burn Aggro. Elusive decks (Zed) are probably still decent at the lower ranks, although not the best choice once you get higher up. You could even try to build an older version of Bannerman Midrange (Garen). The deck is almost entirely Demacia cards with only a few cards from another region. The strongest one for a long time only ran Deny from Ionia, but there are other ways to do it such as Bilgewater (Miss Fortune/Quinn instead of Garen) or my personal favorite for a long time, Noxus (Katarina).
Any copy you get beyond the 3rd one automatically changes to Shards that you can use to craft other cards. However, there is "duplicate protection" for the Champion cards. If you would normally get a 4th copy of a Champion, the game will give you a copy of another Champion that you don't have 3 copies of yet - even if it's in a different region from the one you're working on.
@@BalrajSingh-gg3qm It's super fun. And it's so easy to get cards as long as you play a decent amount. Mainly just do your daily quests. You can even let them stack up a bit and do them every few days.
@@BalrajSingh-gg3qm Haha yeah I used to play MTGA for a bit, but I got bored pretty fast mainly due to the sluggish pace. This is coming from someone that used to play paper MTG though. Their F2P system was OK but not amazing. This game is nothing like Arena - way more generous and everything is at a faster pace, especially once you get used to this game's priority system.
No. You will only get cards based on whichever trial you did better in. The reason to do both trials is for XP though so you can keep leveling up your regions and your vault.
It’s so damn fun but my only confusion is. Are the card selections random? I’ve built a funny ass deck but I’m sure this is a dumb question but I’m game the cards u get are randomised right? Or is there a way to order what cards come out . The rest is pretty good
No problem! As far as what you open from capsules and chests, yes the cards are random. There is a little trick that people used to "influence" what Champion they could open that I believe you still can do. You need to have some of the Champions of that region already in order for the trick to work. Let's say you have two Champions left to open from a region, but you have two copies of one of them. If you craft the last copy of that Champion, you are guaranteed to get the other Champion instead. You could technically then refund the Champion you crafted at the Store. This only works because Champions (and I believe Epics as well) have "duplicate protection": you can't get additional copies of Champions if there are other Champions you haven't collected yet, at least when it comes to the region road.
@@coldwater5814 No problem! I've noticed a lot of my decks have had Noxus in them even though most of them haven't even been aggro decks. So I guess Noxus. But I do like all of them to some degree. I probably like Freljord the least, but I don't hate that region or anything lol
Hi guys. I used to play LOR in its early days back in 2020 but quit a couple of months after the first expansion (bilgewater) was released. I used to play a teemo/zed deck back then and I remember Im having so much fun with it. I quit because I eventually couldn’t win games anymore (back then karma ezreal deck was very rampant) and it just wasnt fun for me. I was wondering how LOR is like now and would you recommend an old player to get back to the game? Will I have triuble learning all the basics again after being away for more than two years?
I've heard that more than a few times actually. Surprisingly, quite a few people I've seen actually came here from Yugioh or at least used to play Yugioh in the past.
I couldn't find out how big the app is as far as storage on your phone. All I could find is the minimum specs. Any smartphone built in the last 5 years should be able to play it, so I can't imagine it being that big.
No it's not needed. If you play even a decent amount, you can typically build one good deck per week. Especially now since they are doing daily login rewards this week and an XP boost if you're a new player on top of the daily quests etc. There are decks out there that only use one champion and they're usually with champions you already got from the starter decks you earned playing the tutorial. The Elise/Darius one is actually insanely good once you start getting certain other cards for it.
@@OhItsMulligan yeah very good deck for a newbie non-card game player like me,so ez to win but as it got stale pretty quick, but atleast it led me to gold in a week.
This is one of the most generous card games out there and the most generous one from a big developer. In Open Beta, I got nearly all the cards in the first set and got 3 copies of every Champion. I paid very little at the beginning just because I wanted a small head start, but I would've had nearly all the Champions anyway if I didn't spend money (I spent enough to get 2 different champs I wanted at the time). And I didn't play as much as other streamers/top players did.
I got this add showing these characters fight, and every nos and then tneyd drop a spell from a card. Lore seemed cool, so i thought i might check it out. Anybody know anutjing bout the lore?
The only time you ever get the spell that's attached to your champion is when you draw a second copy of a champion you already have in play. Then, that champion you drew will transform into the spell attached to them. The spell will shuffle a copy of that champion back in your deck when you play it though, so you don't lose it for good.
yes. however you can only go down divisions. once you hit silver or gold you are permanently silver are gold. you can fall from gold 3 to gold 4 but never back down to silver. it works this way for every rank.
Not yet. But I believe there was unofficial talk from Riot about how they're going to implement it during a previous patch a few weeks ago. It wouldn't make sense for them not to do it (we kinda already got something just for being part of Open Beta). Every other major card game has end-of-season rewards. If we do get them, we won't see them for 2 months since that's how long a season lasts in this game.
Head over to playruneterra dot com to download the game for free on PC. This game is absolutely not pay to win. You can build a competitive deck roughly every week as long as you play enough (do all your dailies and get your Weekly Vault to at least level 10 every week). Some of the starter decks even form the skeleton for top meta decks that were good in Open Beta and still are now. I'd download it as soon as you can though. There have been daily login rewards this past week that you get just for logging into the game, but tomorrow is the last day. Tomorrow's reward is a brand new starter deck that you don't get in the tutorial, but I'm pretty sure you have to finish the tutorial first.
@@soulless3574 Not sure on the exact amount, but I'm pretty sure it's around the low thousands for USD. There's 35 champions across 7 regions in the game now and a Champion card is roughly $3.00 USD. So to get all 3 copies of every Champion is over $300 alone. Epics and Rares cost less per card, but there are way more of them as you go down the rarity list (Commons are 10 cents USD, but there's hundreds of them as an example).

The strongest one for a long time only ran Deny from Ionia, but there are other ways to do it such as Bilgewater (Miss Fortune/Quinn instead of Garen) or my personal favorite for a long time, Noxus (Katarina).
wonder if you have 3 copies of a card and get another can you change it into crystal or something so you dont have 4 or 10 copies of the same card.

Me a ygo player:
basically quick-play spells and speed spell 4 spells
My brain cant handle this
You can do it! It's definitely not harder than Magic the Gathering can be.
Riot games mechanics was all hard but the concept was pretty easy to understand. Like defeat the enemy nexus or something 😅
Good video. Thanks man
Thanks for the comment! Glad that it helped.
@@OhItsMulligan seriously considering to get into this game.
@@BalrajSingh-gg3qm It's super fun. And it's so easy to get cards as long as you play a decent amount. Mainly just do your daily quests. You can even let them stack up a bit and do them every few days.
@@OhItsMulligan ok you just sold me to get into this game. Hopefully not like mtg arena lah
I cast a spell: Everyone in this comment section is OG and will master the game quickly

Anytime! Hope you're enjoying it.
great video cheers
Im still confused pretty much everything XD
I really need someone to personally guide me
Have you installed the game yet?
@@reychristianacosta7298 I've been playing
@@JossOwX You'll get the hang of it soon lmao
If you win both trials, do you get better cards then if you just won one
No. You will only get cards based on whichever trial you did better in. The reason to do both trials is for XP though so you can keep leveling up your regions and your vault.
My first card game 4 days playing
Nice! Glad you've been enjoying it :)

Why can't i steal the enemy cards when he/she have only 2 cards left in there deck???
If you're trying to use Nab cards, that means the last 2 cards were both champion cards since Nab cards can't steal champions.
@@OhItsMulligan thx
Mulligan thanks for the speedy reply mate. So far I dof the shadow isles deck what’s ur favourite ones
Will I have triuble learning all the basics again after being away for more than two years?
this game is familiar to me ,i played Hearthstone before 😁
It's got some of the same things Hearthstone has. But not everything :P
@@OhItsMulligan 😁 right
Great video
this is what i looking for
This game seems like yugioh and magic combined
I've heard that more than a few times actually. Surprisingly, quite a few people I've seen actually came here from Yugioh or at least used to play Yugioh in the past.

How big is runetera I have a limited data
I couldn't find out how big the app is as far as storage on your phone. All I could find is the minimum specs. Any smartphone built in the last 5 years should be able to play it, so I can't imagine it being that big.
is it required to have as many cards as possible to build a good deck?
No it's not needed. If you play even a decent amount, you can typically build one good deck per week. Especially now since they are doing daily login rewards this week and an XP boost if you're a new player on top of the daily quests etc. There are decks out there that only use one champion and they're usually with champions you already got from the starter decks you earned playing the tutorial. The Elise/Darius one is actually insanely good once you start getting certain other cards for it.
@@OhItsMulligan Spider deck with champions Elise and Darius took me to Gold in the first week i played the game lol,
@@freakerzzzx That deck is VERY good. Actually has been a top meta deck once it's fully built with all it's best cards.
@@OhItsMulligan yeah very good deck for a newbie non-card game player like me,so ez to win but as it got stale pretty quick, but atleast it led me to gold in a week.
All you need is luck that all.
it better than HS as you can get all cards without pay for them that all
This is one of the most generous card games out there and the most generous one from a big developer.
How do i get my challenger to work in mobile i cant drag my oppoents cards on to the field
what is that yellow thing next to challenges?
I got this add showing these characters fight, and every nos and then tneyd drop a spell from a card. Lore seemed cool, so i thought i might check it out. Anybody know anutjing bout the lore?
I always lose hope this will fix it
I am amazing at expedition play, but cant build a deck in any game to save my life.
I have a question what does pass mean
are u facing a real player in vs ai or is like computor
You face a computer in the vs. AI mode, not a real player. It's a good way to get daily quests done quickly, believe it or not.
When do i get the spell attached to my champion?
The only time you ever get the spell that's attached to your champion is when you draw a second copy of a champion you already have in play. Then, that champion you drew will transform into the spell attached to them. The spell will shuffle a copy of that champion back in your deck when you play it though, so you don't lose it for good.
@@OhItsMulligan Ah okey, i got it. Thx for the fast reply :)
Can you go down a rank if you lose to much lp?
yes. however you can only go down divisions. once you hit silver or gold you are permanently silver are gold. you can fall from gold 3 to gold 4 but never back down to silver. it works this way for every rank.
I hate the ranked mode for the ropers. They should be punished.
Nice video
Is this game okay?
Are there any rewards for ranked?
@@OhItsMulligan I see, thx!
How do you xyz summon?
Gwent is the most generous card game out now
What does Gwent give you when you're starting out? Are they still doing card packs?
Mulligan try it out it’s free on mobile and pc
This game is confusing and hard to learn... I came from hearthstone and I'm frustrated
Bro, you need some art on your walls!
Ichis buri edyukeysyunal
How can u get it on pc and is it p2w?
@@OhItsMulligan how much $ would it be too get all cards?🤔
@@soulless3574 Not sure on the exact amount, but I'm pretty sure it's around the low thousands for USD. There's 35 champions across 7 regions in the game now and a Champion card is roughly $3.00 USD. So to get all 3 copies of every Champion is over $300 alone. Epics and Rares cost less per card, but there are way more of them as you go down the rarity list (Commons are 10 cents USD, but there's hundreds of them as an example).

3 mana to draw 2 cards is dumb. 1 mana 1 card
