This is by far my favorite version of the song. The vocal is more emotionally longing, and it just hits a spot in your heart that you didn't know was there.
This song reminds me of my life, my wife,....We met in Utah, she was from boston, she stole my heart and went back to boston....I followed... After getting here I found out my mom had cancer and lost her battle five years ago....Boston was a new beginning to my life. Boston is now my home
This song is amazing. It's the perfect ballad to the loneliness we ironically all feel in the moments we forget ourselves and our blessings. It is a tribute to the human condition and a subtle push telling us to care for others, but just as importantly, ourselves. What a great composition. Makes me tear up every time I hear it, even if nothing sad in particular comes to mind. Good work on the video. Be safe, be well.
Such a romantic idea to pick up and move somewhere, to start over with someone in a new place . But sooner, rather than later, you'd realize you're still you and you can't run away from yourself no matter how much you need to. Gotta love the irony.
when i packed up and moved i didn't end up the same person. i was so much better. i thought shed love it. changing was the problem tho. college and job promotions, sobriety. things i thought she wanted for me. guess not. 5yrs down the drain. so then i moved again. back to the old me. self destructive habits and all. she said she misses that. she would have stayed with that guy. this guy is killing me. but theres nowhere to go but forward.
The memories of this song during my college days! When I have to move away from my home town and learn to live somwhere else.. Learn to deal with different and new people.. I remember listening to this song until i fall asleep..
I watched this so much when I was young. I manifested it. I moved to nashville where no one knew my name. some snow is nice. i’m from florida. I remember to enjoy the sunrises vs only the sunsets. I run down the street with my dog dancing and spinning around cause it’s a beautiful life I get to live. this song changed my life and remind me to always be thankful for the smallest moments because you never truly know we were able to lead you.
I find this song more relatable as I’ve gotten older. Originally from Boston,I lost my mom and both grandmothers in the last few years and have grown less connected with my remaining family. Graduating college while battling depression and trying to live through a pandemic made every day difficult. Love comes when we least expect it and when we need it most though, as I met my soulmate during the start of lockdowns for COVID and for months we talked everyday unable to meet as she’s from Texas and we spent months being thousands of miles apart. Eventually we were finally able to meet and cement our feelings in person. My mother was the person in my life who I felt understood me emotionally the best and always felt really misunderstood with the family I have left. I felt it was a good time as I got vaccinated and graduated college to take the type of leap of faith this song gets at and packed my life up and flew one way to see my partner and it was the best decision of my life. I’ve never felt so understood or accepted by anyone the way her and her family do. Sometimes in life we do need to find space to grow, and it feels fulfilling to take my life into my own hands and start something fresh where nobody knows my name and I get an opportunity to be judged based on what I’ve done, not a perceived notion of who I am.
2022 & still one of my all time favs!!! "Carry all your thoughts across an open field....when the flowers gaze at you, they're not the only ones who cry when they see you" My Mom passed away on Christmas Eve 21 years ago, I was just 20 & she was 40. I have to carry all my thoughts across the open field to where she's buried.
I never can dedicate this song to someone, because it's beautiful and always to listen, reminds me to myself in at moment of my life thats found myself. I think that is part of me
listening to this and realizing how much time has passed and I'm still stuck in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Wish I could go back to Chicago where I was born..
This song describes exactly how I felt when I moved from South America to Europe. Alone and only 18 years, leaving it all behind to go where no one even cared, where no one knew my name...
I view this as running towards something…not away from anything. I’m making a huge move from east to NM! This song has always been an inspiration to me. Ty!!!!
while i was re watching big bang theory i came across this one episode where Leonard sings a song and i thought to myself that song is very familiar, then i realized moments later its one of my favorite song way back 2008 that i use to sing all day this is the song boston, what a nostalgia now i miss my childhood and im reminiscing all of those days, this song is gold for me.
I was looking for Boston on Spotify because it was one of my favorite songs on my old computer. I hadnt heard the song in a while and the song I kept finding, also Boston by Augustana just wasn't the same! It was weirdly fast, chorus was different and I just didnt like it since I'm used to this slow version. I'm glad I found it here so I can listen to it and its so much better!
I seem to listen to this song when I'm going through life changes. I picture myself going to Boston to get away from it all, heck I'm a Canadian and this song makes me wanna go to Boston to find clarity. Lol lol such a great song.
[Verse 1] In the light of the sun, is there anyone? Oh it has begun Oh dear you look so lost, eyes are red and tears are shed This world you must've crossed You said [Chorus] You don't know me, you don't even care, oh yeah And you said You don't know me, and you don't wear my chains... oh yeah [Verse 2] Essential yet appealed Carry all your thoughts Across an open field When flowers gaze at you They're not the only ones Who cry when they see you Oh, you said [Chorus] You don't know me, you don't even care, oh yeah Well you said You don't know me, and you don't wear my chains... oh yeah [Bridge] She said I think I'll go to Boston I think I'll start a new life I think I'll start it over, where no one knows my name I'll get out of California, I'm tired of the weather I think I'll get a lover and fly him out to Spain Oh yeah and I think I'll go to Boston I think that I'm just tired I think I need a new town, to leave this all behind I think I need a sunrise, I'm tired of the sunset I hear it's nice in the summer, some snow would be nice Oh yeah [Chorus] You don't know me, and you don't even care, oh yeah [Outro] Boston Where no one knows my name Where no one knows my name Where no one knows my name, yeah Boston Where no one knows my name
Hopefully Bosotn is the place to start a new life I just had a falling out with my family and I am leaving for the drive up from Florida to Boston this song is gonna be on repeat most of the way .. Wish me luck youtubers.
i guess the whole thing on having not a clear story in the video is that that is how it's supposed to be. Augustana's music is like difficult poetry mostly, you have to fill in the blanks, I guess that's their point with their video is. anyways, great job!
Hats off to the version of me that came first... I guess i'll always finish last. But that's okay, I knew happiness. Now I at least have something to stive for... Its crazy... I spent my whole life wishing to be older... Now im cursed with looking back on younger years wishing I had never gotten my wish.
Are you kidding me! This is like the thing ever! I mean Augustana is so beautiful and Daria is the epitome of classic and sophisticated beauty. Did you make this video?
this song ! i heard it for the first time in HMV i was like what is this song called came home and youtube youtube youtube !! loving it loving it loving it :)
carry all ur thoughts across an open fields when flower gazed at u... not the only ones who cry when i see u says you dont know me and you dont even care
This was actually the first version I ever heard, before the actual album came out. No idea where it came from, but I have a burned CD from LONG ago that is a 4--5 song EP or maybe some kind of demo with only this version. When the album came out with the faster version I was so bummed.
This is the best version of this song and it's a shame it's not on Spotify.
Vengo justo buscando este comentario 😢
Just discovered this version a few days ago!
Fuego!!!!!!
Totally agree

Hope you're well and doing OK all these years later. Very sorry for your loss. I lost my mum recently to cancer.
I am very sorry for your loss and hope you have a very great life. Peace and love.
Sorry for your loss ❤ my mom is now battling stage 4 lung cancer, this song made me cry thinking about her 😢
@Melinda Maria My heart goes out to you. It's been a long time and still love this song for the same reason. Hugs to you.
Slow version = Best version

The only version I ever listen to
I prefer this version over the one they decided to make the video.
Jorge Rezende exactly
Same. Craps all over the other version (imo).
Totally agree. Love this version much more.

I never thought about it like that...
Jessie Steele
I think that's why I love this song, an idea to get rid of everything and start over, but we know that in real life is not quite like that.
Stacy Steele agree
when i packed up and moved i didn't end up the same person. i was so much better. i thought shed love it. changing was the problem tho. college and job promotions, sobriety. things i thought she wanted for me. guess not. 5yrs down the drain. so then i moved again. back to the old me. self destructive habits and all. she said she misses that. she would have stayed with that guy. this guy is killing me. but theres nowhere to go but forward.

true talent.the piano rings truth to my life...and the lyrics are food to my soul!
This song (especially this version) makes me want to cry... But it's so beautiful I don't want to stop listening.
[Verse 1]
In the light of the sun, is there anyone?
Oh it has begun
Oh dear you look so lost, eyes are red and tears are shed
This world you must've crossed
You said
[Chorus]
You don't know me, you don't even care, oh yeah
And you said
You don't know me, and you don't wear my chains... oh yeah
[Verse 2]
Essential yet appealed
Carry all your thoughts
Across an open field
When flowers gaze at you
They're not the only ones
Who cry when they see you
Oh, you said
[Chorus]
You don't know me, you don't even care, oh yeah
Well you said
You don't know me, and you don't wear my chains... oh yeah
[Bridge]
She said I think I'll go to Boston
I think I'll start a new life
I think I'll start it over, where no one knows my name
I'll get out of California, I'm tired of the weather
I think I'll get a lover and fly him out to Spain
Oh yeah and I think I'll go to Boston
I think that I'm just tired
I think I need a new town, to leave this all behind
I think I need a sunrise, I'm tired of the sunset
I hear it's nice in the summer, some snow would be nice
Oh yeah
[Chorus]
You don't know me, and you don't even care, oh yeah
[Outro]
Boston
Where no one knows my name
Where no one knows my name
Where no one knows my name, yeah
Boston
Where no one knows my name
