I think that the thing I admire the most about these USASOC Tier One guys is that most of them are not all big and bulky. They are built more like James Bond than a prime Arnold Schwarzenegger. They are regular looking guys; you would never think they were super- soldiers just by looking at them. That makes the unit more intriguing.
Bodybuilder types tend not to be able to endure starvation and or the impact of Airborne Operations, although you will find S.E.A.L.S. and Delta guys built like Tanks that can run through 3/4" drywall 🇺🇸🦇

Aaron Levy Yes those guys exist but the winner standing on the right in this video, Patrick Payne, is a Delta operator who just recently earned the Medal of Honor. That’s why I agree more with Adam Arif on this one.
@@adamarif8987 you are wrong.. delta is tier one strike force but you described tier 2 special forces aka green berets - their job is guerilla war, overthrow governments and cowork with locals... if you look for somebody whos job is to blend in, then you look for CIA operators and contractors who gather intel on the ground

@SSasskicker They're in CAG except Payne was a Ranger (Ranger Scroll, Tan Beret) and Foutz was in the 82nd before attending CAG selection

Who knew that he would end up with the Medal of Honor some 3 years later.... Truly an inspiring man.
As for the colored berets, when you get assigned to USASOC - you keep your beret, whether that be tan or maroon.
...that would be false. Also by reg if a green beret (18 series guy) leaves SF and goes to being a 11B etc (back to regular units) they dont get to wear a green beret anymore...but they will forever get to wear a SF tab. Berets are mostly unit specific and do not follow you (pending your follow on unit).
Thanks for clearing that up mate. I was about to ask the question. They both have the Unit cap badge, but I had always thought they wore the black beret. Interesting.

Not entirely true. You wear the beret you’re qualified to wear. If you come from a non airborne/Ranger/SF unit - so you wear a black beret - and you come to Delta, you wear the maroon beret cause delta is a airborne unit. That means you have to go trough basic airborne course (and MFF) before going to Delta

My great-nephew is now at Fort Benning and will soon begin RASP training. These men, like MOH Recipient Sgt. Payne, are the real HEROES of our country and I’m so very proud of Kyle for choosing to follow their example. in Delta.. when there are certain instances when you are in uniform (BRC, Memorial Service/Funeral, award ceremony), the color of Beret that you wear will be the one that signifies where you came from before Delta. Payne was a batt boy previously, and Foutz came from an Airborne unit (82nd or 173rd).
Why you assume he comes from a airborne unit?
Delta is an airborne unit so if a non-airborne soldiers gets selected he must go trough basic airborne school (and earns his maroon beret) before attending OTC.

I do believe Payne was just awarded the Medal of Honor for a raid in 2015 saving about 70 hostages with his team. If I remember correctly.
"United States Army Special Operations Command" is a very well-known name used by officials when referring to The Unit. You wouldn't generally expect a few young NCOs (especially a former ranger) to be part of the Command.

Found this video searching for Sgt Major Payne, who was recently placed in a recommendation for the MOH. Both men are Tier one Operators, you can tell by just looking at the patch on their left arms. Delta Force Symbol. Arrowhead with a dagger in the middle.
