WHAT!? no grisha trilogy? No cassandra clare!? No Sarah J Maas OR JOHN GREEN!!? Barbara! How can you expect me to take you seriously as a booktuber if your list of favourite books are thematically diverse and interesting!? Very sad that I wasn't able to predict all of your options before actually watching the video. I haven't spent years of my decidedly wasted life studying the perfect booktube top 10 and smugly predicting all the entries on countless lists just to be thrown a curveball like this! Shocking! #cancelindivdualitytube
You make me want to branch out of YA and try tons of different genres! I haven't read the Great Gatsby yet, and as a junior in high school I would have thought I'd read it by now. It's always looked so good! (And the movie has Leonardo Decaprio, so that's an incentive)
Honestly read what you enjoy! I think I’ve just grown out of YA and found it super repetitive ahah. And I’d actually recommend watching the movie first! It really makes you want to delve deeper into the story by reading the book, the movie is sooo good. And obviously Leonardo DiCaprio lol
My all time favourites (in no specific order): - Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand - Forbidden, by Tabitha Suzuma - Rebecca, by Daphne Du Maurier - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (the whole series is great, but OOTP will always have a special place in my heart) - The Shadow Of The Wind, by Carlos Ruiz (or whatever his name is) - Revenge of The Jew, by J. W. Rochester - Xenocide, by Orson Scott Card - A Pleasure and a Calling (don't remember the name of the author) - We Were Liars, by E. Lockhart - Josie and Jack, by Kelly Braffet - Six of Crows - The Oracle of Luna, by Frederic Lenoir - The Immortalists, by Chloe Benjamin. I don't think I've ever cried so much reading a book as I cried in this one. Please read it, you won't regret it Love your videos 🌹
Yay I knew you’d love Murakami!!! I’m reading IQ84 right now too! Maybe try Kafka on the Shore or Norwegian wood before After Dark as they were a bit of an easier read for me
Dont even trip, you look great. Thanks for dropping some more good book vibes on us. If you like when George welcomes you into the Westeros, the Dunk&Egg series are a must, I think they're the best out of his series in regards to their ability to draw you in.
Mindy McGinnis has Heroine coming out in March. And yes, it‘s YA but it‘s also Mindy McGinnis, so it‘ll be dark, and desperate, and will very likely make me feel things (ugh, feelings). So, if you‘re interested, keep an eye out for this one 😊
Since you have an interest in North Korea, you might be interested in a documentary on Netflix called The Lovers and the Despot about a South Korean director and actress who were kidnapped on the orders of Kim Jong Il. It was very interesting and moving. Also the score was actually really amazing.
Not liking Gatsby first time round doesn’t make you a moron! I think it’s a book that you need to mature to understand the themes - I remember finding it a bit weird the first time round, and then I re-read it and really enjoyed it. It’s great to hear you talking about Junk, I read it years ago but it really stayed with me. I think it’s because, as you said, the characters and rawness of the storyline are so realistic and tragic. Great to see a video! Have a great Christmas! X Ps. Have you tried Cormac McCarthy? I read the Road earlier this year and it’s one of my top reads from 2019, made me think so much! I saw it on your Goodreads TBR am would highly recommend it!
Oh man you're the only booktuber whose choice of books interest me. Have you read Kurt Vonnegut? I feel like his books would appeal to you. Maybe try Galapagos or Slaughterhouse-5.
Oh my God, I recently discovered Haruki Murakami too! I read "The Wind-up Bird Chronicle" and (except one chapter) it was so great. 1Q84 is next on my list!
I wish there was more sci fi channels. I mean everyone reviewed the Martian because it was mainstream but what about Fable Hill or on a pale horse? So many obscure books that never get covered.
Have you ever gotten into the philosophy side of literature? Hegel, Kant, Voltaire, etc. (also side note if you haven't read Candide by Voltaire you should because it's still funny 300 years after it was written)
Hahah Candide was in my last video for my all time favourites! I still love it. I’ve read some Kierkegaard, Sartre, Camus, Heidegger and obviously Voltaire obviously but that’s about it, I always feel really stupid when I read philosophy lol
@@chapterbarbara8161 Cool, I'm going to recommend a Adult Dark Fantasy novel The Savior's Champion by Jenna Moreci and a New Adult Dystopian novel Aletheia by Megan Tennant. Both of these 2 books were some really fun reads, hope you are able to read them and enjoy them. Both are available in multiple formats, however TSC's audio is coming soon and Aletheia doesn't have one.

Have you seen the movie American Psycho? It's based off the book and it stars Christian Bale.
TFP Radgirl I haven’t seen it yet! I really want to though
I should've said please. Can you please make some more videos?

Im pretty sure you put the books from your part one video in the description, in case you want to look into that in the future

Barbara: Calls herself halfway decent while also looking like a freaking model.
Me: YA BOOKS SUCK RANT 14:35
yes the video
a little bit off topic. but what is your ancestry?
Is she alive?
I want to recommend 2 books to you but I'm not sure how you feel about indie books . . . Would you or do you like to read indie books?
A.J. Torres I’ve never really read any, so shoot! I love getting recommendations
