what I really wanna see is the upcoming i5-1235U with an eGPU. the 4c8t limit of the 1135G7 will be a bottleneck for a lot of games. but 2 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores might be good for some solid mid range eGPU setups. considering thunderbolt hasn't gone past 40 gbps in bandwidth in a long time, you end up with eGPUs really only being able to fully utilize like a GTX 1070 level card before you lose a ton of performance, at least in gaming. so a RTX 2060 in an eGPU paired with a 1235U or i5-1240P would probably be a awesome gaming setup for a lot of people. the RTX 2060 is kinda overkill for a eGPU but at least you get access to DLSS and RTX features.

However, gaming laptops belong to a niche market, and I can safely say most folks cannot affordable expensive gaming laptops. Most of us either make do with console or just game with our working computers. Knowing how our run of the mill laptops can deliver in games is invaluable. Thanks again.
Ever since lisa took over amd ive migrated to amd and never looked back. I never even consider intel laptops anymore. The only reason 12th gen and iris xe are even good now is because of competition from amd. otherwise intel igpus would be even worse
@@kevincabascango4026 I would prefer a current generation processor. From what I understand amd processors are a bit more to play with, they will still respond correctly to programs like autocad. Intel processors are more to think, process, for that reason they can have a slightly higher performance in autocad with respect to amd. I personally ended up buying a computer with an i5 11400h, certainly this processor is superior to the ones I mentioned in my comment. Likewise, both the ryzen 5 5500u and the i5 1135g7 are very competent and complete for their price (laptops around 400 dollars)

As far as I remember, the Intel ones had lower battery consumption but I did a little research and it seems that the Ryzen 5500u has a lower consumption, perhaps because it is manufactured in 7nm instead of the 10nm of the Intel. Although you should keep in mind that the maximum speed of the Intel is 4.4Ghz and that it only has 4 cores, on the other hand the Ryzen has 6 cores and a maximum speed of 4Ghz. In my opinion either is fine, although I think I could trust the Amd just for a change. You must keep in mind that since it is a normally used device, what damages the fastest is the battery, since you do not know what type of use was given to the device. Supposedly the Amd has a lower frequency which means less consumption but also lower processing speed, although you will only use it for Excel and using the browser, so I recommend looking at the Amd as a better option

Clearly, being a computer for gaming, the battery would perform poorly, but a small problem occurred and that is that the battery began to damage with only 6 months of use, the strange thing about all this is that when I was not playing I always "deactivate" the graphics card so that only the processor works, and it seems that the processor was the one that consumed a good part of the useful life of the computer
I would go for the i5 honestly. those are very single threaded and the i5 does have higher IPC than the 5500U. so single core performance is better on it. it's not going be groundbreaking levels of difference or anything but if it was a machine I was getting exclusively for those tasks, then I would go i5. for an all around system that I would be gaming and working on, I would go 5500U hands down.

5500U. The cpu performance of the i3 1215U is very good, but the iGPU is very weak. It’s only 64EU for the iGPU vs the 80EU in the i5 and the 96EU in the i7. So the gaming performance for it is pretty terrible. The Radeon 7 in the 5500U is more comparable to the i7 iGPU.
I bought a Ryzen 5 5500U last November and I'm really happy with it 😊😊

Did you test both with 1x 8GB? If so: Iris Xe is supposed to only work with two RAM bars. if you only use one RAM, it is reduced to Intel Graphics
