- Today we're looking at The Colonists. The Colonists is a settlement building game inspired by classic titles like The Settlers and the Anno series. You take control of a team of self-replicating robots who have escaped from Earth and are searching the galaxy for a new home where they can fulfil their dream: to be human. About The Colonists:
The Colonists is a settlement building game inspired by classic titles like The Settlers and the Anno series. You take control of a team of self-replicating robots who have escaped from Earth and are searching the galaxy for a new home where they can fulfil their dream: to be human.You'll advance through three different Ages as you build infrastructure for your colony by constructing road, boat and train transport systems. Harvest natural resources, set up farming and food production, create expeditions to discover new lands and research new technologies. With two separate mission tracks, The Colonists lets either you create sprawling settlements in peace or race to compete against AI colonies in military winner-takes-all scenarios.

hey drae, a tip for your roads :D This is a trick from settlers 2, you need to make the distances between the poles as short as possible so more resources can be transported, also the paths take too much time to transport resources to the next pole
Drae, you said near the 30 minute mark that buildings shouldn't need resources they produce. They don't. You built a tier 2 surface mine which requires stone to mine iron and coal. The tier 1 surface mine doesn't require stone.

It's not the robots that need the meat, it's the small population of captive humans stored in the homes that do. They're generating electricity Matrix style.

Not sure if you've heard this or not, and sorry if you have, but you should look into Rimworld. It just released on Steam (been in development for 5 years) but its great. I just got it a few days ago and it has absorbed me. I feel like you'd like it, it's a really great colony/survival game.

autonauts plus a game i used to play as a kid? (forgot the name, you had to build a pyramid in a set period of time) noice.
You built a level 2 surface mine that requires stone. You should have built a level 1 surface mine there. Also, you could have turned productivity back on for your original mine and had him go mine the stone from across the map.

Your orchard is sooo far away. You should have built it by the sheep pasture, on that road that you built. That way the cider would only have to travel a short distance.

I'm not sure if I'm correct on this, but I think the only reason you got gridlocked is that you tried to construct a level 2 surface mine. I think the level 1 surface mine doesn't require stone.
