- A super cool unboxing of some species we've never had in store before. Cichlids, pufferfish, tetra, barb and climbing perch: this delivery had it all!
Which species do you think I should set up an aquarium at home for? let me know in the comments which one you would choose?
The mini studio is also nearly finished with all the components arriving just before I left for holiday. I am so excited to get back and set up loads of fish tanks!

Another great one my friend... Your content always makes me smile... Cheers from San Antonio Texas where it's the temperature of the Sun right now... 🍻🥵
Awww man I'm sat watching the rain pour down. Thank you for the comment!
ty for showing us around
Wow those blue eyed congos are STUNNING
Years ago I use to work part time in a local aquarium store I look forward to fish delivery day. Opening up the shipment to see what you got was like Christmas morning always a surprise to see each bag. So I understand your excitement on opening day. It was a harder work day but seeing what you got made it worth it. So I also appreciate the work you got to do after the unboxing of the fish. Most customers don't understand the extra work that has to be done before you go home for the day as they are live animal that need special care immediately and going home is not option until you are cpmplete done. And as you see a new fish you what to take them home immediately which create aquarium syndrome where you keep adding tanks to you collection then one day you house is filled with aquariums.
Absolutely spot on, it is hard work but soooo rewarding!
I was like a kid in the candystore when I worked in the local petshop and the aquarium part of the shop was my responsibility 😍 And I fell in love å dew days ago when I saw the Galaxy Rasboras live 😍
Those congo guppies have spots on their sides like endler guppies. Those guppy fish are fabulous. question Matt, do you ship to the USA?
Why don't I have LFS like this near me 😔 the fish look so healthy and colourful. The exact same specifies in my LFS look like a different breed as they are so pale in comparison! Hats off to every worker at this store 👏👏👏
Love the blue eye Congos mate👌
Always excited to see and learn about fish!
I've had P. aurantiacus for around a year now, and they are great species. The males get an electric green stripe along the belly and the showy fins like the normal Congos. The females are also stunning with vibrant yellow color and the blue eyes. My favorite tetra by far. Thanks for showing us the unboxing!
always enjoy your videos!
Looking forward to seeing what replaces that huge African tank. Loved the video with md that it was made in
Yay!! I have a female spotted Congo puffer and will always recommend them. I love my girl even though she’s (accidentally) given me a bit of a bite lol.
Awesome video as always! It's amazing the amound of work that goes into them! Footage from Weeks or Months appart, straight to the point and full of unalterated excitment! The only bad thing about watching you is that you make me wanna buy more tanks but i have no more space in my current apartment... But *maybe*....
awesome video, thanks
My god as if I'm not in the shop enough now I need to come again hahaha
As soon as you said the 8 foot tank will be going soon, my first thought was, oh great!! Of course MD has to scape it again xD
Love your shop Matt, you're a legend - Cheers from downunder
Your videos should have three times the views. You are awesome 👏
Hi Matt, I'm a new subscriber and this is my first video. I could barely see the fish, there was a lot of glare. Where are you located?
some lovely fish... and interesting fish aswell.
Some awesome fish, ornate climbing perch are a special species. Do you ever see jelly bean tetra, Ladigesia roloffi, on African import lists?
Totally agree and unfortunately not unless they've changed the Latin name, the last time these appeared on a list for us was 2017!!!
Would you give someone your last roloffi?
Başarılar temiz bakımlı bol çeşit nice 👍
You are truly a great fish expert! I learn a lot from you. Gina
He is amazing i agree, a real sharer of knowledge and love for the hobby without making us feel patronised. Cool without trying
Dude! I love the fish you get in your shop! You should be head of stocking for all Maidenhead’s! Haha keep it up! When’s the next tank video! I need more to watch haha
Where I come from the Phenacogrammus aurantiacus is pretty common. You'll find them at most fish stores at a reasonable price. They are quite lovely and they look amazing in a blackwater tank
Hey matt . Keep up the good work ! i'm dreaming of owning or managing a fish shop just like you
Thank you! If I can do it you definitely can!!!
Great vid man, as always!, love your vids, keep it up .
Oh by the way , you remind me a little of Richard Dreyfuss, you now , the guy in JAWS!!.
Best regards Anders , Sweden
Hahahah amazing!
Great video, Matt! So exciting to see what’s new in the shop! And that intro…😂 the best! Sending ❤ to you and your family from California! Loving where your channel is going! Learning a lot and grateful for all of your advice and encouragement to is newbies!!!!
So exciting to get new fish! I'm sure once you have them settled and their colors start showing, it will be quite a treat 🥰 keep doin what ya do Matt!
I hope so too!
You should do a maidenhead store tour.....plase start at notts cuts nottingham 🤣🤣
The intro 🤣
Glad you liked it
love your videos great job on this one.
funny thing, i watched MD's vid first, and while watching it i was thinking "you know it'ld be really cool if MD and matt set up a tank for some splash tetra's, with leaves hanging above the water so could see them do their thing" then i watch this vid and.... you have splash tetras! fate? maybe?
also you would likely be a good person to ask, i'be growing curious about the breeding methods of fish and some other animals, interesting to ponder what would lead them to reproduce the way they do like the splash tetra... how did they get to the point they thought... "you know, we are wet, if we jump we can stick to the underside of that leaf and lay our eggs there, but you sir are going to have to stay here and splash them to keep them wet..." lol but... question is, are there any fish that have a stranger/more unique breeding method than the splash tetra?
Its great seeing the different species now available.and i know prices vary up and down the country.but can you give some idea of how much they sell for...getting interested in bucktooth tetras..keep up the great videos..
I will certainly try and include it in the future. Maidenhead aquatics Wilton had an amazing group of bucktooth tetra last time I was there!
@@FishShopMatt Maidenhead aquatics Wilton .......bit of a drive for me...from up norf
Lort o restarted the video, then the app, then i skipped ahead and realized it was your sound not on 😂😂😂😂. Great video though
Im thinking about doing a 75 gallon fresh water with puffers.
Thought my headphones were broken for a sec there 😆
Soooo freaking awesome! How long does it take to ship them from order to delivery? Thanks and happy Saturday 👍
Looking trim there Matt
Thank you!
Oh I’ve about 50 + Nigerian red crib baby’s 👌🏻in one of my tanks…parents passed away.they can be abit difficult compared to the common ones..
Absolutely agree with you on their difficulty, cool that you got some babies though!
Might give you some when there big enough 👌🏻yes I’m not the only one who’s had difficulty with the male in this species..I’m into Apistos at the moment have a few different species to..I dropped off my API full test kit to mark,as he loves these test kits.and he can make more use of it…NT LABS for me lol 😂 Steve
Amazing fish wish I lived closer to your shop I’ve got golden severum can I have a plated tank with them ? And would you recommend what to have with them plz
The second 'c' is silent in microctenopoma, and the 'ch' in Distichodus is sounded like a 'k'.
Is that a glaser shipment? Its lovely when im in my LFS at the same time they get an glaser-deliverence. I bought 5 Tetraodon schoutedeni for over a month ago and my goal is to breed them and post videos on my channel.
Have you added silver dollars to the puffer tank?
Yeah a group of black bars
@@FishShopMatt They look amazing in that tank. My first ever fish were silver dollars.
Please do a vid about Buster
something up with your customers down there! How are the schoutedini and aurantiacus not all gone?
Sometimes you find the fish that you think will sell quick sit around, others that you think will stay for ages disappear.
Albino long finned cherry barb are gone so quick everytime we order them.
@@FishShopMatt I have a group of Shoutedeni, and they are amongst the best fish I've ever kept.
I'd happily add to my group, but as is usual with the internet you're in Mordor or Narnia or something. We have 6 CB schou's and they are now spawning for us.
I'm after auranticacus too!
I live in Plymouth and am trying to find time to come up to your shop! I could do with advise though. In one of my local pet shops (that isn't renowned for its correct aquatics knowledge) has a type of catfish in that they have labelled as "Synodontis valentiana" but I swear it isn't. It looks far more like a feather fin catfish. I cannot keep the valentiana in my tank, but I would love to keep the feather fins. Do I take the risk of buying them? It seems impossible to get the two catfish mixed up as they are so completely different, hence why I'm sure it the catfish my local pet shop has aren't valentiana.
What is your week's treatment quarantine method which you touch on in these videos?
Also maybe tipp for future videos. When pulling the species out of the box and explaning the species maybe put the B-Roll of the fish in the tanks and like a few days later to actually show some development on color etc to actually get people interested cause, yes when the come in they are all stress colored and there isnt much to show then lots of wiggles in murky water in bags. So for future unboxings, dont put the tank shots at the end but put them right after or inbetween the explanation. yes more cutting work but worth it.
hey Matt didn't you get the extra nanochromis for ya self or congochromis
I kept hearing Costco not Congo 😅😂😂
#fishup
👍🏻👍🏻
How ironic. I live in Africa and I have to watch a UK RUclips clip on African fish. 😢
Imagine he hearts this

Whoop whoop Steve!
