      If the ambient temperatur are lower than in the center no compressors are needed. It´s a common strategi to rise the temperatur of the cooling system to reduce the compressor energy. The ambient temperatur can cool the water system. But the best thing to do is to reuse the heat energy when possible ie in district heating. That is more and more common in cold areas with district heat system.

      I do a lot of work in data centers, and I have been told by a few them that their highest cost is the electricity bill for the air conditioners, if there is no aircon, you use less power = more efficient. I can't remember any specific details but one of them was saying that if they replaced all of their equipment with components that could survive in higher temperatures and remove the air conditioning all together, that they would save an absolutely monumental amount of money. it would be quieter too - those fans sure are noisy. They said the biggest hurdle in doing that is the temperatures would easily climb to 50degrees Celsius+ and it would be very difficult to have people do work in there from an OHS standpoint.

    • @brandoloudly9457
      @brandoloudly9457 7 лет назад +4

      i was confused about one thing this guy said. did he mean they have air conditioners up against their racks pushing the warm air into an isle where it rises to their secondary cooling, which would be the copper pipes with water that then runs outside through a cooling tower? are they using a secondary method of cooling to reduce the power consumption of their air conditioners?

      That cooling system would seriously concern me. Their is a serious risk of condensate moisture particles dropping into the racks. In addition, the evaporator coils will be dehumidifying the air to the dew point of the cooling air, the drainage systems below coils are constantly blocking and flooding into anything below them. This is the reason that they are historically floor mounted.
      On the scale that the system has been installed, I would consider it an accident waiting to happen.
      PS, I have designed systems for theaters and film studios for more than 45 years.

      there is some thing called parity, even if you lose hdd, you wont lose data. it's store in bits and bytes in hdds. so no file is completely saved in a single harddrive. even if a hdd crashes, putting a new hdd will recover the parity. ruclips.net/video/EMipZFaJtgw/видео.html

      each individual server has multiple drives that are empty, so when one does fail, it automatically gets dumped onto an empty drive, via RAID-array.

      Look, the ads is making me sick!! I had to scan my Pc many times in a month in ordered to make sure there are no virus effecting my Pc, if I've not mistaken some of the ads posted in google contains virus or maybe it's from some download page that I accidentally clicked in. Somehow, the ads are not necessary i'm suppose. By the way, what's about the underrated post all about?

      Do the math, there's a formula that was made in the ~60s that predicts the multiplier of computing power available in a certain amount of time in the future. It has been accurate so far. I forgot name of the guy, but it is a law in science.

      Do you mean the amount of data stored on a chip for the average consumer or Google's data centre will be the size of a chip? I think by then DNA would be used into the mix.

    • @jakubd.4250
      @jakubd.4250 6 лет назад +3

      Google probably holds about 1450 exabytes of data (but I cannot find any reliable sources). According to Kryder's law, hard drive density increases at pace of about 40% per year. I don't think there is any direct law for chips so I will use this law instead. Right now you are able to purchase 1TB chip. With these parameters it seems we will be able to store Google's data on chip in 43 years.

      Kakuzu Senpai that will no longer work because the size of the transistor and p-n gate is reaching its limits.quantum tunnelling is dominating further this. we need a revaluation in the future.
