Sometime is a hit or miss for me when I try to pin up the phone with bobby pin. Like where should the first pin go. I find sometimes if the first pin is not in correctly, I have a very hard time to apply the rest of them and keep my hair in place.
Could you explain or do a video on how you pin a bun with so few pins, like the best placement and method. I have long thick hair and use so many hair pins (those wider versions of bobby pins with waves on both sides) regardless of the style of bun I do. (I still have a big box of the Marianna bobby pins you recommended years ago, best hair purchase I ever made. I've never gone back to cheap ones.)
Kayley Melissa ...pinning a bun. The bobby pin either seperates and slips out, or if I just pin the end hair of my bun once it's wrapped, then the whole bun isn't secure and my bun falls out. Please do a video on pinning a large bun. I end up using TONS of bobby pins that can't be reused because they are bent open.
The only thing missing from this video is how not to lose all of these damned things. I swear I had like 100 at the beginning of this month and now I have 2. Just 2 left.
Burnley Jeniffer if you use some magnetic tape or have a tin where you normally undress or let your hair down you won't loose them as much! Although that doesn't count for the Elf to steals them and one sock 😂
Burnley Jeniffer get something magnetic to drop them on, also if you get professional ones they come in boxes of a few hundred so you always have loads.
That just means you put too many and/or they're not secure enough. I NEVER lose any. On my head they don't move, so there's no way one would drop. And then once I take them out I put them back in their box right away. This way I keep the hundreds forever :P (until they're so old I actually have to throw them away...)
Loved this tutorial! I would love to see more on securing buns with bobby pins and such. I've always had a hard time putting buns in my hair...even the simplest kind. I have very thick hair (and it's quite long) and when I do finally succeed in putting up a bun, it doesn't feel very secure and it feels like I have 10 pounds on my head.
My hair is so thick and bobbypins always slip out 😩 love these tips though! I have also stabbed myself in the head way too may times because the plastic ends were missing 😂
This is super helpful. Could you make a video for work inspired hair tutorials. I'm in the military and have long hair and I find the same hairstyle super boring. If you need a reference for regulations look up AR 6 70-1 the rules are there's but they're a always loop holes. For example I sometimes to switch things up put in a regular braid to the side. So if you could think of any ideas that would be super awesome. Long time fan SPC Aguirre US ARMY. Hoah!!
Kayley this was an AMAZING video!!! The quality of your videos has been getting so outstanding! I've been following you for forever and you've inspired my hair journey and I'm so grateful for you! Thank you for all of the love and hard work you are putting into these videos. You are shining bright!!!
I just want to let you know that this video was a game changer for me. I can now put a bun in with two bobby pins, and no one can see them. The little bit of hair and scraping the scalp tips were key.
This videos was fantastic. I loved how you showed how to pin them in your hair. That is the part I always struggled with. And the jumbo Bobby pin is a good idea for my long thick hair. Thanks for being my go to hair tutorial youtuber!!💓
I remember when you made your old bobby pin video like 5 years ago! I subscribed when you were still living with your parents! Can't believe it's been as long as it has!
LOVE THIS! And yes please more! I have thick and spent many years thinking that bobby pins just didn't work for me. I now know how to use them more effectively but I could always use more pointers!
Thank you sooo much for this video!!! I know it always seems like it's supposed to be common knowledge to know how to pin your hair, but tutorials never actually show you how to properly use bobby pins to hold thick hair in place. Because of this, my hair always felt insecure when I tried pinning it. I kind of had to learn by trial and error, but thanks to your video I can actually get my hair to stay in place! Please make more videos like this!
And here I thought I only had one question, which was about which side of the pin goes closer to your head....I had no idea about that little "3 circles and reverse" trick to secure your hair! Thank you for taking the time to make a tutorial on this, bravo!
Thanks for the video :) For some updos I also find it helpful to hairspray the bobby pins before using them, to add a bit more grip. Especially when my hair is freshly washed (because I'm going out) and very slippery.
Yes! Definitely more tips! So glad you did this! In many videos when you're like "and just pin it in place" I think to myself 'yeah, but like HOW?!' =) thanks for so many amazing tutorials!
Thank you for this video, it's really helpful because I always have trouble using bobby pins esp pinning a bun / braids - please definitely make more tutorials! Thank you so much and love your channel! Keep up the great work!
Can you do a video or just say which brand of small elastics you use? The kind I use always break/snap off in the middle of the day. Maybe because I have too much hair in them.
I buy mine at the dollar store. They have different colors, but I just get the clear ones. It's like a pack of 500 for a dollar. They are really stretchy and break after a lot of stretches, but great for one time use. If they break you could always use two at a time as well.
YESSS please more videos on bobby pins ! this one was super helpfull already ! I plan to take all this tips in action for my sister's wedding since I've been tasked to do my little sister's hair. You can be sure we'll ba all rocking Kayley Melissa hairstyle ;)
Wow so cool. It's so simple but I really need to learn more about Bobby pins. This video helped a lot. Bobby pins and buns, that would be great please.
Amazing! Yes please, more tips! Especially for silky hair. Here in the UK we call them "Kirby grips" -no idea why! So hair grips is definitely a more common term than bobby pins
*TIP #4 (CONFUSING)* You mentioned only putting a tiny amount of hair in the bobby-pin, but if you go down to your scalp, then you're picking up more hair, right? ♥️ LOVE this video btw! 😘
If you have thin hair, the braid hair + the scalp hair isn't too much at all. By "tiny amount" she meant to say you don't try to use one bobby pin to secure a thick braid or anything too thick. The braid she used as an example was tiny enough that you can put scalp hair with it.
Please do a video on parting hair especially when it comes to the back of your head mine always ends up wonky! 💕 love this video Im ready to use bobby pins now
Now that we have the very basics covered, let me know what things you want to learn how to do with bobby pins!
Sometime is a hit or miss for me when I try to pin up the phone with bobby pin. Like where should the first pin go. I find sometimes if the first pin is not in correctly, I have a very hard time to apply the rest of them and keep my hair in place.

How to pin down braids in updos without the sections in the braid separating from each other where the bobby pin is wedged in. If that makes sense.
How to use bobby pins on a curly pixie! My hair is so thick, bobby pins just either won't hold it or it'll look super bulky and weird..
As a single dad to a beautiful little 7 year old girl, thank you. Finding the basics clearly described is actually harder than it sounds.
So sweet 🥺
King. ❤️ Be strong buddy. 🙏🏻
You're a Great Dad❤
The only thing missing from this video is how not to lose all of these damned things. I swear I had like 100 at the beginning of this month and now I have 2. Just 2 left.
Burnley Jeniffer if you use some magnetic tape or have a tin where you normally undress or let your hair down you won't loose them as much! Although that doesn't count for the Elf to steals them and one sock 😂
Burnley Jeniffer ha I feel ya! I swear there is black hole somewhere with all the pins I've lost 🤣🤣🤣
Burnley Jeniffer get something magnetic to drop them on, also if you get professional ones they come in boxes of a few hundred so you always have loads.
Burnley Jeniffer my boyfriend called me from work the other day to say he had found one in the sock he was wearing 😂
That just means you put too many and/or they're not secure enough.
I NEVER lose any. On my head they don't move, so there's no way one would drop. And then once I take them out I put them back in their box right away. This way I keep the hundreds forever :P (until they're so old I actually have to throw them away...)

For some updos I also find it helpful to hairspray the bobby pins before using them, to add a bit more grip. Especially when my hair is freshly washed (because I'm going out) and very slippery.
