    Great Video as always Dan. Today I am doing the same. A little Oak, some Locust, and Cherry..Locust and Cherry come in to Basement and ready to Burn by the Stove. Oak stays outside to Season. All split by Hand and the Stash put in Boxes for use in Starting my Fires, and Keeping them Going, very Valuable item. I am doing a little better. See you at the next Video. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.

    That splitter is very impressive. I really like the speed of it.

      Not much slows it down...knots and splitting across the grain will a bit, but won't stop it....lol

      I need a few good days in a row to start putting a dent in the logs round the woodyard, but guess better to have stuff to do than nothing to do...hahaha

    How does the wood in your little lean-tos do drying and seasoning? Is it decent? Any mold or anything?

    • @Back40Firewood
      @Back40Firewood  4 месяца назад +1

      Don't have any mold, I think keeping water/rain/snow out is the key. We'll see how this new pile does since I may not have it covered. The wood seasons fine, may do a little better with more airflow however.

    Thanks for explaining your plan with sorting the different size splits.I have a 12-22 eastonmade with 7 way box wedge. Still getting use to it. Most of fireplace customers like the smaller splits say around 3" high x 3" wide by 16" long. May try your sorting plan too.

    I have been following your channel for a while and I saw you stocking your woodshed for burning in your boiler in the winter. I am curious what the boiler is for. I don't see any house or other building anywhere near by that would benefit from boiler heat. Maybe I just missed that video. Keep up the videos. They are great, and I love your wandering deer in the wood yard.

      The boiler heats the house and the hot water. There are tubes underground that circulate water into the house and through heat exchanges for both the domestic water and the forced air furnace. The water continuously circulates bringing water into the house for the heat to be pulled off it.

      @@Back40Firewood thank you for replying. I thought that was the case, but didn't know how far the house was from the boiler.
