    Looks like there's been decades of neglect even before it went into storage but these model A's just seem to be indestructible just a bowl of TLC and it's good for year's of enjoyment!! Great video! Thanks.

    Your gas tank is Mint! My Texas 31 roadster that was the only rust through I had. My oil pan leaked from the stripped drain plug and the rear seal. My engine was seized because of a cracked head and bad gasket so the engine required piston removal..., a dingle ball hone..., and 5 valves replaced and valve seats reground before putting on a fresh head and gaskets.
    Keep up the good work and congratulations on finding a fairly unmolested Roadster!

      Thanks. Once those tanks get water in them, they don't last long. I think I will have to seal this one. There is some rust on the side seam as well.

    looking forward to part 2 ! I subscribed , & hit the bell for notifications , so hopefully I will be notified ? I
    did a lot of work on a 1945 ford p.u. with flat head v8 for a old guy , truck was in nice shape , ran well , 1 day he calls me & says
    the truck wouldn't start & the battery was flat dead 6 volt . anyway, so I go over & check it out , here the bushings in the starter
    were worn out to the point that when the Bendix drive spun out into the ring gear ,the Bendix drive got jammed under the ring gear, and severely discharged the battery that stayed engaged !! lucky the truck didn't catch fire !!!!
    MORALE of the story , we rebuilt the starter " WITH NEW BUSHINGS " & that never happened again ! you can see how that huge Bendix drive hanging out that far was tough on the support bushings !! later design starters have a tail shaft bushing
    into the starter nose to help support the whole shaft far better!!!
    NOTE # SOON AS YOU FIGURED OUT THAT THE STARTER WAS HUNG UP , KEEPING THE MOTOR FROM TURNING OVER ,
    THE LIGHT BULB CAME ON & I REMEMBERED THAT FORD FLAT HEAD V8 , THAT DID THE EXACT SAME THING AND JAMMED THE MOTOR TOO !! ( CHECK OUT THOSE BUSHINGS ) ??? maybe why the car got parked ? she wasn't puttin any more money in that old car , when the motor stuck !!! ( here it was just a worn out starter " bushings " & got jammed up ) ??
    GOOD LUCK & KEEP UP THE GOOD VIDEOS !!!!! P.S. CARS HAVE BEEN PARKED OVER SOME OF THE SIMPLEST REASONS !!!

    • @Maine_A_S
      @Maine_A_S  Год назад

      Thanks for watching. The bushings seem pretty good. It's looking like there were probably a number of reasons why it was parked. Still working on part 2.

    Really great find. Interesting to see it has both rear and side spare tire mounts. Perhaps a result of the fender/splash apron swap. Also interesting to see the added cowl tab to hold the windshield in place. Apparently not just a problem of those of us with repro stanchions.

      Thanks for watching. It's hard to say what the history is with the fenders and spare mounts. I'm pretty sure the doors and hood are from another car as well. It will be interesting to see the frame VIN once I pull the body.

Two cylinders oxidised up badly it never would have turned and still won't with heads off. . Mortske will it runs a lot of flatheads fords. Fun to watch. Hopefully your valves are not stuck. Good luck.
