  • Description:
    Today is so far the worst siren test that could possibly ever happened. No other siren failures could compete against this one, not even the one i recorded back in septemeber. However, long story short, the siren began to scream out DTMF strings, static and a loud background noise. The siren acted as a terrible scanner playing out tones and failed to sound in alert. The siren got stuck on the 3rd position and never moved throughout the entire test expect to play static, the voice message and abunch of DTMF and including error noises (mainly groaning noises). This shows that FPL in st.lucie have the WORST siren system ever and not even an ATI siren system would come remotely close to this and that's saying something. I REALLY hope in the future, none of this happens again (which i kinda doubt) as this shows FPL lacks care to maintain their siren and uses outdated equipments.
    This is so far the 5th time FPL sirens have failed and have worsen in each of thoses fails over time.
    Me and Tom was very disappointed and called this the worst siren test we've ever experienced so far.
    So yeah, that's pretty much what i gotta say about this one. Its 1 hell of a mess and i'll never ever forget that this happened. Im pretty sure this might be the worst siren fail video ever published here.

    I forgot to explain more about the discrepancy counts in this video. All the sataic and random dtmf, messed up voice is all counted. for each part the siren fails to do (including clear voice) is also counted. If you want to hear the ambience, Skip to 7:56 and 16:50.

      The random DTMF is for rotation, live voice activation, cancellation, and alert activation. Seems like it just got stuck on live voice and wouldn’t cancel and also ignored the rotation activation commands and all the other tones

      @@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL DTMF sounds more like the command was outdated or just randomly failed due to rusty components.

    You know SHTF when you can faintly hear other sirens nearby functioning normally, but the one being filmed has completely failed and is basically end of life.

      @bobo o Hello, Thunderbolts will still have issues if they're not maintained properly well enough. Regardless, they require alot to maintain than newer sirens after the thunderbolts. All sirens regardless will have issues if they're not properly maintained like this siren system in this video. Quality and easy to maintain is important for longevity of any sirens.

    At least we can still pretty much hear some of the voice and rotation/activation tones. I'd like to see this system some day, but I feel bad that it's always having issues. Is it issues with the speakers or radio? Either way I don't know if this system will ever end up getting replaced with new sirens (Not the Whelen Vortex's model though) or remove it entirely cause at this point the district must just be tired of this happening. Is the system really needed? Either way great capture, keep up the good work!

    • @TheaolguySirens
      @TheaolguySirens  2 года назад +1

      Hi, No the drivers are fine, the radio is the issue. To answer your question, a few people are tired of the sirens not working correctly. However, because of federal laws on behalf the NRC, Sirens are required to alert people if an disaster where to happen at a nuclear plant unless the plant is discommissioned completely. So yes, the system is needed by law.

      @@TheaolguySirens Ah, ok. I hope it can get fixed soon cause if something bad happens and the sirens don't receive the codes properly, it's gonna be FLP's fault and they could get in serious trouble. So looks like the sirens built in radio needs work or the station/dispatch needs to be upgraded. Thanks for the info! I hope you stay safe 😄

      Equipment is only as good as it's operator - PMs and SOPs are the customer's problem, that's why they're in the documentation. If anything, yall are responsible for parts and support. Beyond that, these issues lie on the municipality.

  • @VrantusOfficial

    The DTMF tones simply sound like an error indicating that the connection or command was outdated, which failed to complete.
    I wonder if FPL is still using this service? Or have they shut this one down?
