@@robbieradev it's not intriguing, the chapter is bad and not memorable, has stupid deus ex machinas like ryuk secretly giving away a second notebook and the death eraser, the main character is boring and has no conviction, everything is very low stakes and it feels like "death note if it was low IQ, the bullies come back to life after the boring-ass mc uses the stupid-ass death eraser, but then they are killed again by a not previously mentioned character whose identity is discovered right away, and he somehow knew the death note rules and in one page the mc convinces him to use the death eraser and then they self-report to the boring policeman characters

What separates him from this kid and his first experience with the book is that Ryuk gave the kid a "back button" and that the bully kids are much harder to justify offing than the leader of a group of punks trying to force themselves on a woman. Honestly, can't blame Light for going on the war path after seeing something like that.

I was comparing the two protagonists starting scenarios to say there's a "nurture" component to the way Light turns out. It's rather obvious that Light didn't start out evil, just naive and idealistic. Even the artsyle shifts in the manga support this, with Lights features hardening as he is corrupted and softening when he loses the notebook.

But if there is completely new unknown holder of death note enter the game that definitely will be tough challenge for the original cast as L, light, etc
The great thing about Death Note is that it's a timeless concept that can be franchised or revisited due to the nature of the Note itself. Of course, the legendary duo behind it had other stories to tell. Bakuman is my favorite manga of all time.

I remember reading the Naruto one shot. Honestly, as much as I love current Naruto, I'm a little disappointed that the original concept got mostly scrapped. It was such a heartwarming and interesting story and I loved it so much.
I can tell you what happens if you don't mind being spoiled, but it's a short one shot so you can go read a scan of it online if you want, but if not: SPOILER WARNING The protagonist Taro finds out that the other death note holder is one of his classmates, he catches him, realises he doesn't know about the death eraser, so they bring back everyone he killed, then take the death note to the police, and Taro says to prove it's real by killing him, and erasing his name. The police officers say they won't charge the kids with anything and they can destroy the book and be done with it. But Taro never told them about the one he still has and he kept it. But because he was not Light he never wanted to kill people, so he just held onto it and let ryuk tag along with him. A few years later he sees there's a rumour going around that there's a "death note" and some people believe in it. The ending is basically asking the reader "what would you do with the death note?" I think it works well as a one shot, I guess the eraser works because it's a short story and if it were in Light's story there would be no permanency to his killings, and I guess Light wouldn't even want to use it because he actually wants people to die. Not going to lie it would have worked well as a movie.

The evil one would force people worl worl for him in a crime syndicate ran out of the highschool with fear of death. While the other have to kill his men but forces with a choice of killing people who are forced into crime with threat of death . Which ends up making him go insane. From killing simi innocent people . Life and death mortality and or to give into your years . To stop a greater treat.

My headcannon would be that, the Death Eraser was made by the remains of a dead shinigami (or one that has been parished) and all the dust/sand that is left behind gets turned into a small eraser.
