One Piece : Best world building and writing. Gives a feeling of never ending mystery to the world. Naruto : Cool power system and interesting approach to battles ( initially anyway ). Gives more emotional investment in the fights. Bleach : Badass character designs and animation. HxH : All of the above

Yeah, I expect that the story to be somewhat better. I personally love love love Hunter x Hunter. But if One Piece had that much amount time to write and draw and refine. It totally be better. Before watching hxh, I used to think it's a kids show (literally), because of gon and killua. But when I actually watched it then I realised how much wrong I was. For me it even surpassed AOT. It has all the elements like funny, happiness, brutality, actually god tier Villains (chrollo, meruem), sadness. The most important thing is the character developments of it's characters. I loved it how Killua who was a cold hearted assasin developed himself into more of a human, whereas gon developed more of a colder side. Netero died like an ant, protecting his colony while Meruem died like a human, by spending his last moments with one he loved. There are many more parallels like these I quitted watching hxh after chimera ant arc because I am preparing for a very big exam and I wasn't able to get myself involved in it (study stress), will resume it again from first ep after 2 years!
You’re absolutely right the 1999 hxh dub should’ve aired on adult swim, cartoon network/toonami, or even kids wb (or even better air simultaneously on all three channel’s) so it would get more recognition.

And Togashi only able to do this, because of his fame, Yu Yu Hakusho. Any new author would have get their series canceled for good.
I'm still glad that HxH didn't become one of those shows that are full of filler. I wouldn't be able to stand that, but HxH is still my favorite anime!
When i was 10 years old all the way back in 2006, i loved the big 3 and slept super hard on hxh...but then 15+ years later i had a tooth pulled and stayed home from work for a week, so i decided to marathon hxh for a whole week. and yeah, turns out hxh is actually one of the best anime ever, which shouldn't be a surprise since it was made by the Yu Yu Hakusho creator, which some people consider the old big 3 to be "Yu Yu Hakusho, Dragon Ball, and Sailor Moon" (even though Sailor Moon isn't Shonen)
@@Azeral7 hxh is not that complex, its a good anime but people are being hyper pretentious as its just an standard battle shonen at its core. People forgot that yu yu hakusho ending was abysmal in the manga and the anime had to try fix it. Since it was the 90s no one bothered because it was only on tv and not on the internet for discussion/trends like today that can backfire if the mangaka does 1 mistake.. The same can almost be said about hxh as most of its manga were under the radar until 2011 with the anime remake by madhouse (the manga was almost 80% done to where the current manga is today), if it had been released on a weekly schedule today it would have been trashed on really hard for where the story would have gone. Most people live on the nostalgia from the 80% of the manga that they didn't need to wait weekly for and the anime showcased it suffered a lot from underdevelopment (phantom troupe), offscreen and the pacing issues with the long ass chimera ant arc.
@Jekiterio the nen is explained in an interesting way. What's smart about this anime is it's fighting scenes which are incredible to say at the very least. Every character has a trait and that trait very well works with their nen abilities which makes every character really unique ans even the seemingly useless nen talents has their uses. The character interaction is another pro in my eyes. I hated that main character was a kid and so naive. Cause author is clearly capable of writing some non cliche character. It is sort of complex if you actually divulge into the whole nen categories and then inmate talents of people and then people who makes restrictions on themselves. It become convulated more and more but its notnhard to understand if you watch it carefully
4:52 I mean that depends how much filler HxH would have had too.. by 2010 Bleach had already 400 chapters and HxH had 300.. and by the end of 2016 Bleach had almost 700 chapters compared to 400 chapters that HxH has nowadays and Bleach is rumored to continue after tybw anime with 1 more arc. What also determined the big 3 is how big they were in the west during the mid 2000, this is where both Naruto and Bleach were much bigger in the west compared to one piece which was not considered in the big 3 at the time (only in sales), and if we look at the sales the big 3 were consistently leagues above other battle shonens. Instead hxh got a lot of boost during 2011 with its anime remake while the bleach anime went on a 10 years hiatus almost around that time.. Kubo wanted to change the directional tone in the manga and not think about the constraints of the anime due to character deaths and explicit stuff that would have got censored if it had continued. What would had mostly happened it would have been the Big 4 instead of 3, but it would have come down to if Togashi would have survived long enough to endure 10 years competing with the big 3 on a weekly rough schedule and not crash and burn like he did with yu yu hakusho.

They said they would resume work on it once they had enough of the manga to work with and adapt, so it’s likely that when the Succession War arc finishes it’ll be adapted. That could take a few years, but it Togashi is able to keep finishing at least a page a day then it’ll be soon. It seems like he is healthy enough to make manga and enjoy the things he loves, which is something he couldn’t do before. He is very active on Twitter, and he posts at least once every day, the manga returning is hopeful for the return of the anime.

a lot of people wanted it to be. The japanese manga came out in 2006, which was around the year Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach started in America, but Fairy Tail wouldn't come to america for another 4 years in 2010, aka 4 years since the big 3 was already decided. Then Black Clover and MHA came out around 2015. So Fairy Tail was unfortunately right in the middle, too late to be part of "the big 4" but too early to unify Black Clover and MHA as "the next big 3"
@@Speculector What is ironic is that fairy tail got heavily bashed back in the day for some of its writing and powersystem, but nowadays you have stuff like Nika/joyboy from One piece that come out of nowhere with little to none forshadowing and is a full on retcon.. This stuff would have got the whole manga cancelled, but due to how long the manga has been going on and how invested the fans are they will not call it out, and then the manga continues to the next chapter and people forget all about.
I feel like if togashi was able to release chapters weekly, bleach or Naruto would’ve been pushed out of the big 3. HxH’s writing is top tier compared to all of these series and it’s worst arc (greed island) is arguably better than the majority of bleach, Naruto’s, and even one pieces catalogs. Personally I think it would replace Naruto for one big reason: kishimoto had no idea what he was doing while writing Naruto. It’s pretty well documented that kishimoto had no floor plan for Naruto past the wave arc and added things like the chunin exams because his editor told him a tournament arc would do well (largely because of how well the Hunter exams went for HxH at the time). Even the main trio of sasuke, Sakura, and Naruto were entirely made up by kishimotos editors who wanted a darker deuteragonist and a female character as part of the main cast. Consequently, a lot of Naruto’s world building and plot points are kind of subpar compared to series like one piece and HxH. It’s got a great setting but never really explores it beyond the first mission and a few smaller arcs throughout the story (mostly in the 4th great ninja war and sasuke’s time with Taka), the characters are pretty subpar aside from a few villains (pain, madara, and sasuke all come to mind), and the power system is horrifically underdeveloped. Just contrast chakra and nen. Theoretically you should be able to emit chakra from any part of your body to create jutsu since it literally flows through your body and with enough control it should be possible. It’d be like HxH with nen only without the limitations of being a transmuter, specialist, or any other type blocking you from perfecting other techniques. People could theoretically do bending style attacks, apply elements to weapons like demon slayer, or even create JJk style domain expansions through applying certain techniques. Instead most jutsu are literally just breathing a ball of fire or lighting, forming walls or dragons out of mud and water, or breathing out air attacks. It’s honestly a crime how underdeveloped Naruto’s power system is and it’s not really surprising that the series got power cliffed hard during its final arc. Side characters like tsunade, shikamaru, and kiba just couldn’t keep up with Naruto after they just kept getting more and more special powers (some of them admittedly being ahh pulls). Just look at the rinnegan as an example. It makes 0 sense why a do jutsu would grant someone the ability to create literal cruise missiles out of their body. Until the rinnegan was introduced do jutsu’s signified an eye specific ability like the byakugan being able to see through things for kilometers or on a microscopic level or the sharingan allowing a user to predicts and copy and opponents moves. The rinnegan is literally just 6 random abilities smashed together because kishimoto needed to make pain op, and the lore of it being an evolution of the sharingan makes even less sense and was only done to make madara more powerful in the final arc. Combined these three issues of poor world building, poor character writing, and a badly underdeveloped power system destroyed the series over time, and if HxH was around it’d honestly just be a better version of Naruto. It has a better dynamic between its main characters (gon and killua), it has a much better cast with development and story relevance, it’s world building has been much more consistent, it’s villains have reasonable motivations that don’t seem cartoonishly evil at points (think of how orochimaru had no goal in actually attacking the leaf and just did it for the laughs compared to Hisoka looking for a future challenger or chrollo attacking the auction for profit and to honor Uvogin), it’s power system is infinitely better and more expansive, and it’s story is much more coherent as arcs always feed directly into one another with the characters all growing with the plot. HxH is just a better version of Naruto and I could honestly see it taking Naruto’s spot as Naruto remains a more niche series if it doesn’t get cancelled over time. Comparatively bleach is different enough from HxH that it would probably still carve out its own dedicated fan base and one piece was already an established juggernaut.
I feel like what define the big three was mainly how popular and how much units each manga sold not so much the writing. Since if that was the case the big three might be completely different. Naruto has flaws and borrows some elements from HxH, but I think what make it stood out were characters like Naruto and Rock Lee who wanted to prove to the world that there somebody. Or the character Sasuke becoming a protagonist to an antagonist.
HunterXHunter is my favorite anime and If I have too I'll wait years for an update. I have been reading the manga too there is hope if the author starts making new chapters because then the anime can finnaly start making more episodes and I believe this will happen. Eventually. . . Also people need to like stop fighting in the comments about HunterXHunter being better or the big 3 being better it's just opinion. Though My favorite anime usef to be Naruto before I watched HunterXHunter, I loved HunterXHunter so much I binged it in around a week. . on school nights.

hxh is not perfect and what you mentioned I obviously one of the biggest errors it has in the story. But Naruto also has a ton of moments like that. How the story turned from one about ninjas into an alien spaceship just because he didn’t know how to kill Masada is wild. He also pulls powers out of nowhere with most of the time no foundation whatsoever. Chakra had a lot of potential but he decided he wanted more mega swords and less ingenious ways of using it. Also about the evolution and development of humanity thing you said it doesn’t make sense. Chakra is also really significant and even more widely known so why didn’t it advance as fast as what we have now? Because that’s the setting the author chose. You don’t know if they chose to put it in the timeline of the hxh world was matched up with ours. We don’t know how much time it took them to get to that point it could have been less than it took humanity in the real world. Plus we also see a lot of politics from the v5 to the new royalty. Again it’s a secret system and normally people who use it don’t go around using it for culture and so on. and just to make a a point clearer the hunter hunter world could easily be a thousand years before our current time in their chronology we don’t know. Plus they constructed the mafias and underworld, they also went into the world politics and the dark continent. We got to see the whole hunter association.

It’s genius how well the system is made and how the power is explained to then be applied to real battle. The training they go through is also good because they show us how they get their power and how they learned to use it.
Hunter x Hunter is good but it wouldn't have done anything to temper with the big three, yeah sure maybe it would have have its own special place but the big three would have been what it is today
I have talked to a lot of my friends recently about their Hunter x Hunter experience and we all agreed, that Hunter x Hunter was thrilling from beginning to end, it was an experience that is not like in many of the "big anime", where there are arcs that are completely a waste of time or feel like a whole filler, but in Hunter x Hunter there were so many good things in each arc and even in the weaker arc for example Greed Island, there are some fun episodes and "mini arcs" like the training arc or volleyball match. All in all, we agreed, that Hunter x Hunter has some kind of magic, that keeps pulling the viewer over and over again to watch more and in many arcs even in the big three, there are some parts, where one could easily drop out. Hunter x Hunter is definitely in my top 3 anime and if not, my number 1.
HxH anime is better than the big 3 combined (anime). Manga wise I would say One Piece > HxH > Naruto or Bleach Tho the one piece remake may change the anime statement.

Hxh is not better than AOT, One Piece, or Vinland Saga. Out of the entire story of HxH only 3 interesting characters exist in Kurapika, Hisoka, and Meruem.
Everyone loves the Big 3 -except guy who says na-Roo-to Hunter X Hunter is not one of the Big 3 and never will be part of a Big 4. It has great sales but not on the scale of the Big 3. Bleach has more than 50% more sales. Naruto nearly 3 times the sales and One Piece...more than 6 times the sales! It's not in th race.
What HunterxHunter add to the big three is even to be more mature and "Horror", far more horror than fullmetal alchemist for example and still being a shonen, doesn't matter how gore bleach became now, because hunterxhunter themes are obscure and filled with cruelty like reality

Naruto and one piece are for thoae simple minded, one dimensional people. YORK NEW ARC and Chimera ant arc are well executed, well thought arcs and prolly the best in shonen. If people want a one dimensional fight scenes, yes nartuo and one piece are for yall. Most of HXH fight scenes will give you goosebumps, wil make you think other scenarios, will make u use your imagination and knowdlege of things to fully understand whats happening.
in my opinion hunter x hunter has the best anime out of the 4, and if the anime got a lot of fillers, that would probably change my mind, so i'm grateful for all the hiatus and the anime 2011 remake, for me it couldn't be more perfect.

i love one piece, dragon ball and naruto. all are great series. but i feel like if you look at it with sober eyes, hunter x hunter is the objectively best written mainstream shonen. in terms of worldbuilding, power system, mc and duaerogonist, complex battles, and overall story, hxh takes the cake and feel like a sensible person wouldn’t debate that. i mean if you recall the second half of the chimera ant arc, you would know hxh has some peak fiction writing when it comes to complex subjects like good, evil and humanity. if people see this comment there will probably be whining and complaining in the comments. i’m not saying your favorite anime isn’t good, im saying hxh is better. other anime’s are allowed to be your favorite tho lol.

Before watching hxh, I used to think it's a kids show (literally), because of gon and killua. But when I actually watched it then I realised how much wrong I was. For me it even surpassed AOT. It has all the elements like funny, happiness, brutality, actually god tier Villains (chrollo, meruem), sadness. The most important thing is the character developments of it's characters. I loved it how Killua who was a cold hearted assasin developed himself into more of a human, whereas gon developed more of a colder side. Netero died like an ant, protecting his colony while Meruem died like a human, by spending his last moments with one he loved. There are many more parallels like these
I quitted watching hxh after chimera ant arc because I am preparing for a very big exam and I wasn't able to get myself involved in it (study stress), will resume it again from first ep after 2 years!
HxH writing is unique and on its own league. Greatest thing I watched on a screen and that includes movies and series too.

We didnt get the consistency of the episode releases, but we got the quality.

Yeah, if you took 10x the amount of time to write the story. While neglect the art, and also kinda neglect other writing craft. The whole letting the narration play such heavily lifting. Yeah, I expect that the story to be somewhat better. I personally love love love Hunter x Hunter. But if One Piece had that much amount time to write and draw and refine. It totally be better. It ain't like all these people don't have health problems. Why not compare to Yu Yu Hakusho, when the same mangaka had to play by the same rules as the other author. And I also love Yu Yu Hakusho. To add on, most mangaka can't survive like this. The Shonen Jump model would have cancel the series ages ago. If Shonen Jump depended on Hunter x Hunter to sell their magazine. Then it would be bankrupt. Hunter x Hunter needed to the other 3 big shonen to keep that platform (in which it publish on) afloat. And Togashi only able to do this, because of his fame, Yu Yu Hakusho. Any new author would have get their series canceled for good.
Hunter x Hunter is specialist. It doesn't fit in any categories. It operates on its own. It can come out whenever it wants as long as togashi wants.

When i was 10 years old all the way back in 2006, i loved the big 3 and slept super hard on hxh...but then 15+ years later i had a tooth pulled and stayed home from work for a week, so i decided to marathon hxh for a whole week.
and yeah, turns out hxh is actually one of the best anime ever, which shouldn't be a surprise since it was made by the Yu Yu Hakusho creator, which some people consider the old big 3 to be "Yu Yu Hakusho, Dragon Ball, and Sailor Moon" (even though Sailor Moon isn't Shonen)

@@Azeral7 hxh is not that complex, its a good anime but people are being hyper pretentious as its just an standard battle shonen at its core. People forgot that yu yu hakusho ending was abysmal in the manga and the anime had to try fix it. Since it was the 90s no one bothered because it was only on tv and not on the internet for discussion/trends like today that can backfire if the mangaka does 1 mistake.. The same can almost be said about hxh as most of its manga were under the radar until 2011 with the anime remake by madhouse (the manga was almost 80% done to where the current manga is today), if it had been released on a weekly schedule today it would have been trashed on really hard for where the story would have gone. Most people live on the nostalgia from the 80% of the manga that they didn't need to wait weekly for and the anime showcased it suffered a lot from underdevelopment (phantom troupe), offscreen and the pacing issues with the long ass chimera ant arc.
@Jekiterio the nen is explained in an interesting way. What's smart about this anime is it's fighting scenes which are incredible to say at the very least.
Every character has a trait and that trait very well works with their nen abilities which makes every character really unique ans even the seemingly useless nen talents has their uses. The character interaction is another pro in my eyes.
I hated that main character was a kid and so naive. Cause author is clearly capable of writing some non cliche character. It is sort of complex if you actually divulge into the whole nen categories and then inmate talents of people and then people who makes restrictions on themselves. It become convulated more and more but its notnhard to understand if you watch it carefully

4:52 I mean that depends how much filler HxH would have had too.. by 2010 Bleach had already 400 chapters and HxH had 300.. and by the end of 2016 Bleach had almost 700 chapters compared to 400 chapters that HxH has nowadays and Bleach is rumored to continue after tybw anime with 1 more arc. What also determined the big 3 is how big they were in the west during the mid 2000, this is where both Naruto and Bleach were much bigger in the west compared to one piece which was not considered in the big 3 at the time (only in sales), and if we look at the sales the big 3 were consistently leagues above other battle shonens.
Instead hxh got a lot of boost during 2011 with its anime remake while the bleach anime went on a 10 years hiatus almost around that time.. Kubo wanted to change the directional tone in the manga and not think about the constraints of the anime due to character deaths and explicit stuff that would have got censored if it had continued. What would had mostly happened it would have been the Big 4 instead of 3, but it would have come down to if Togashi would have survived long enough to endure 10 years competing with the big 3 on a weekly rough schedule and not crash and burn like he did with yu yu hakusho.

They said they would resume work on it once they had enough of the manga to work with and adapt, so it’s likely that when the Succession War arc finishes it’ll be adapted. That could take a few years, but it Togashi is able to keep finishing at least a page a day then it’ll be soon. It seems like he is healthy enough to make manga and enjoy the things he loves, which is something he couldn’t do before. He is very active on Twitter, and he posts at least once every day, the manga returning is hopeful for the return of the anime.

The japanese manga came out in 2006, which was around the year Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach started in America, but Fairy Tail wouldn't come to america for another 4 years in 2010, aka 4 years since the big 3 was already decided.
Then Black Clover and MHA came out around 2015.
So Fairy Tail was unfortunately right in the middle, too late to be part of "the big 4" but too early to unify Black Clover and MHA as "the next big 3"

I feel like if togashi was able to release chapters weekly, bleach or Naruto would’ve been pushed out of the big 3. HxH’s writing is top tier compared to all of these series and it’s worst arc (greed island) is arguably better than the majority of bleach, Naruto’s, and even one pieces catalogs. Personally I think it would replace Naruto for one big reason: kishimoto had no idea what he was doing while writing Naruto. It’s pretty well documented that kishimoto had no floor plan for Naruto past the wave arc and added things like the chunin exams because his editor told him a tournament arc would do well (largely because of how well the Hunter exams went for HxH at the time).
Even the main trio of sasuke, Sakura, and Naruto were entirely made up by kishimotos editors who wanted a darker deuteragonist and a female character as part of the main cast. Consequently, a lot of Naruto’s world building and plot points are kind of subpar compared to series like one piece and HxH. It’s got a great setting but never really explores it beyond the first mission and a few smaller arcs throughout the story (mostly in the 4th great ninja war and sasuke’s time with Taka), the characters are pretty subpar aside from a few villains (pain, madara, and sasuke all come to mind), and the power system is horrifically underdeveloped. Just contrast chakra and nen. Theoretically you should be able to emit chakra from any part of your body to create jutsu since it literally flows through your body and with enough control it should be possible. It’d be like HxH with nen only without the limitations of being a transmuter, specialist, or any other type blocking you from perfecting other techniques. People could theoretically do bending style attacks, apply elements to weapons like demon slayer, or even create JJk style domain expansions through applying certain techniques. Instead most jutsu are literally just breathing a ball of fire or lighting, forming walls or dragons out of mud and water, or breathing out air attacks. It’s honestly a crime how underdeveloped Naruto’s power system is and it’s not really surprising that the series got power cliffed hard during its final arc. Side characters like tsunade, shikamaru, and kiba just couldn’t keep up with Naruto after they just kept getting more and more special powers (some of them admittedly being ahh pulls). Just look at the rinnegan as an example. It makes 0 sense why a do jutsu would grant someone the ability to create literal cruise missiles out of their body. Until the rinnegan was introduced do jutsu’s signified an eye specific ability like the byakugan being able to see through things for kilometers or on a microscopic level or the sharingan allowing a user to predicts and copy and opponents moves. The rinnegan is literally just 6 random abilities smashed together because kishimoto needed to make pain op, and the lore of it being an evolution of the sharingan makes even less sense and was only done to make madara more powerful in the final arc. Combined these three issues of poor world building, poor character writing, and a badly underdeveloped power system destroyed the series over time, and if HxH was around it’d honestly just be a better version of Naruto.
It has a better dynamic between its main characters (gon and killua), it has a much better cast with development and story relevance, it’s world building has been much more consistent, it’s villains have reasonable motivations that don’t seem cartoonishly evil at points (think of how orochimaru had no goal in actually attacking the leaf and just did it for the laughs compared to Hisoka looking for a future challenger or chrollo attacking the auction for profit and to honor Uvogin), it’s power system is infinitely better and more expansive, and it’s story is much more coherent as arcs always feed directly into one another with the characters all growing with the plot. HxH is just a better version of Naruto and I could honestly see it taking Naruto’s spot as Naruto remains a more niche series if it doesn’t get cancelled over time. Comparatively bleach is different enough from HxH that it would probably still carve out its own dedicated fan base and one piece was already an established juggernaut.

I feel like what define the big three was mainly how popular and how much units each manga sold not so much the writing. Since if that was the case the big three might be completely different. Naruto has flaws and borrows some elements from HxH, but I think what make it stood out were characters like Naruto and Rock Lee who wanted to prove to the world that there somebody. Or the character Sasuke becoming a protagonist to an antagonist.

hxh is not perfect and what you mentioned I obviously one of the biggest errors it has in the story. But Naruto also has a ton of moments like that. How the story turned from one about ninjas into an alien spaceship just because he didn’t know how to kill Masada is wild. He also pulls powers out of nowhere with most of the time no foundation whatsoever. Chakra had a lot of potential but he decided he wanted more mega swords and less ingenious ways of using it. Also about the evolution and development of humanity thing you said it doesn’t make sense. Chakra is also really significant and even more widely known so why didn’t it advance as fast as what we have now? Because that’s the setting the author chose. You don’t know if they chose to put it in the timeline of the hxh world was matched up with ours. We don’t know how much time it took them to get to that point it could have been less than it took humanity in the real world. Plus we also see a lot of politics from the v5 to the new royalty. Again it’s a secret system and normally people who use it don’t go around using it for culture and so on. and just to make a a point clearer the hunter hunter world could easily be a thousand years before our current time in their chronology we don’t know. Plus they constructed the mafias and underworld, they also went into the world politics and the dark continent. We got to see the whole hunter association.

I have talked to a lot of my friends recently about their Hunter x Hunter experience and we all agreed, that Hunter x Hunter was thrilling from beginning to end, it was an experience that is not like in many of the "big anime", where there are arcs that are completely a waste of time or feel like a whole filler, but in Hunter x Hunter there were so many good things in each arc and even in the weaker arc for example Greed Island, there are some fun episodes and "mini arcs" like the training arc or volleyball match. All in all, we agreed, that Hunter x Hunter has some kind of magic, that keeps pulling the viewer over and over again to watch more and in many arcs even in the big three, there are some parts, where one could easily drop out. Hunter x Hunter is definitely in my top 3 anime and if not, my number 1.

I'm not a fan of the big 3. I've never seen Bleach and I almost started watching One Piece but it's too long and I quit before I began. However, I am a fan of Naruto, it's just that HunterxHunter is better

Yes i love HxH it's my second favorite after bleach. i just can't get into Naruto or One piece have tried multiple times it's just not for me.
Brother same my favorite is hxh and i am enjoying the bleach manga but i just dont like naruto and one piece is to long
HxH is a failed ⭐. It's an anime which probably wont reach it's prime ever due to hiatus.
In current state HxH isn't beating any of the big 3.
But if we look how much it has delivered in very less number of episodes as compared to the big 3 then no one in the big 3 comes close to HxH.
