My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer have lower volume number than Naruto, Bleach and One Piece, but if we go more back in time, the 3 most popular titles of Shonen Jump in 90s were Dragon Ball which had 42 volumes just like My Hero Academia, Slam Dunk with 31 volumes while Jujutsu Kaisen (if really the current arc is finale) will have about 30 volumes, Yu Yu Hakusho ended with volume 19 which shorter than Demon Slayer 23 volumes. So these series are not very short compare to other popular titles of Jump from different eras.
This been confirmed that they’re continuing the series, a few minutes ago I watched a video saying it might come back in September. Man at least I hope 😭.
I would recommend checking out Indie comics, a lot of them have conclusive endings. I read Marvel and Dc comics but I get why some people don’t because the stories don’t usually have conclusive endings. I don’t think you should turn away from comics in general if you don’t like Marvel and Dc not having endings, because there are plenty of Indie comics that tell good stories with endings.
If the manga is doing really good its kinda not up to them if the editors and jump decide that it should go on for longer. Pretty much what happened to death note and actually One piece too. Like OP was originally meant to end in 5 Years with the Alabasta. Its crazy how Oda managed to turn that into a such huge story.
Another great example comes from the same creator. When Hiro Mashima wrote Fairy Tail, it ran from 2006 to 2017 during the height of the Big 3 era. It outlasted Naruto (ended 2014) AND Bleach (ended 2016). But when he wrote Edens Zero, it lasted from 2018 to 2024, not even 300 chapters. It's his shortest series ever, even more so than Rave Master. Now, Fairy Tail: 100 Year Quest, the sequel series has a much stronger argument for still being ongoing than Boruto because it's literally the same characters all doing something like moments after the OG series ended, but even it's reaching its final arc.
I imagine working on a series for that long probably breaks you lol. I can't imagine ANYONE would want to commit themselves to another series that long after having worked on their first one.
@@KitsuneAnimeYT Edens Zero is a rare case of fans WANTING it to be longer and cover more stuff because just about everybody felt like the last arc was rushed. Maybe overwork played a role here even for Mashima, who is famous for drawing so fast and efficiently that he gets 8 hours of sleep, and that was before he turned to hand drawing digitally.
@@Serocco Fairy Tail 100 years quest is more like a shippuden or z type series, because it takes places only 1 year later and using the same cast of characters, not the next generation. I hope the later seasons of 100 years quest will be adapted by a different studio, after saw how garbage is the current season.😢

Personally, i believe it's great that so many anime series are ending, it'll give more space to new stories written by different authors to get popular. All i hope for is that the authors get the ending for their stories right and we don't get another "Great story but terrible ending" situation during this time period.
Honestly this is a good thing. Not to tute my own horn but 9 months back i made a video calling "The Death of Long Running Shonen" on my main channel Tyron's Redux and alot of the comments i got on the video showed me that people are satisfied with having the stories end before the mangaka burn themselves out. I honestly refused to watch/read MHA until it ended because Horikoshi was destroying himself to finish the story and now that its over and Horikoshi can finally rest, i can take the time to appreciate the work he crafted.
I agree. I love long running manga, but I think in the long run shorter running series are going to be better for manga author health. Plus it just means we're going to be getting more variety in the future.
Let's be honest here long form manga still exist but just aren't 15 years or more. One piece is a once in a lifetime manga that won't be repeated. The seasonal format is the new wave. The problem with it is that every season needs to be good or great.
@@Jonathan-tw4xm facts or else there’s going to be a controversy every single season. Pretty much seasonal has it good & bad things about it. The expectations are extremely high now.
Agreed, Oda has been saying for years. Over a decade at this point even. I’ll believe it when I see it. And so far The One Piece will be replacing the first One Piece series so even when it ends, it’s not really going anywhere.
@@FullmoonPhantom-dn2srand the live action as well if they decide to continue that, after finishing the manga Oda could easily keep a lively hood just overseeing the projects derived from his franchise where he is involved as a producer
2 factor why anime need ending: 1.the author health physical and mental cuz not all author had same body like example the author of hunterxhunter had infamous meme of hiatusxhiatus but in actualiy the author had reach bad health that need more rest . 2. How long can it continues on cuz not all anime and manga had same length by it own thing.
Cell was a very welcome change. The android saga wouldn’t have been as intense without the constant threat level increasing. Teen gohan moment is classic.
Why Are SO MANY Anime Ending?: becaose we know and care about them. nobody is gonna go crazy about a fact that a new jump series has started also the final acts of the series can go for years (3 years for my hero, god knows how many years for one piece)
It's the end of an era. A lot of these new gen anime came out in 2013-2018. It's 2024 now. They've all been running for at least 5 years which is a long time.
It may be kinda sad when they end, but we can always go back and rewatch/read them as many times as we like. There's also always room for new manga/anime artists
I think it’s a natural progression. If a story is truly complete and not just filler, there is nowhere to go. In MHAs case *Spoilers*, the story has been dragged out as far as it can feasibly go. Every lesson the author wanted to have has been taught, all of the narrative points are wrapped up, the main bad is defeated and the world has shifted how it is meant to go. In my opinion, it’s better to end on this high note than take the Naruto approach where you just add random elements that aren’t foreshadowed, and ruin the prior established integrity of the show just for the sake of more chapters.
@@Mari-sg2pp Foreshadowing was perhaps not the best choice of words, but I was more so implying that if you introduce new elements to your story that don't make sense, it hurts the overall continuity and appeal of your story. It can also retroactively affect prior parts of the story, that worked well in the absence of newer, less thought out material.
Naruto ended in a high note though while yes the madara stuff was bs the real ending was always the naruto vs saskue fight which ended both characters arcs nicely.
There will never be a new big 3. There was only the original. Anime is mainstream now. You’re gonna see a lot more trash before the bubble pops. Maybe then we can get quality anime again. Bring back art over profits.
i think an interesting to take note of is the slow growing popularity in fantasy as a genre. Dungeon Meshi, Frieren, Witch Atelier are a few i can name that just kind of blew up in the anime and manga world with both anime being pretty new and witch hat getting an adaptation early 2025 (if you haven’t read it i highly suggest it!! really fun world with a very unique magic system). i think generes in general are expanding in anime and manga and that’s just something super cool. with fantasy it’s not isekai’s or something basic, these are very well thought out stories and im glad they’re getting the recognition they deserve!!
I prefer shorter series tbh. It help the author to be more coherent with their story and avoid having to make stuff along the way (I'm looking at you Toriyama)
@@DDKoD i mean what's left? Uzuki got Takamura's "personality" and skills, we finally seen Rion's brief flashback, both Sakamoto and that jolly spy friemd of his (i forget his name) becomes the main target of JAA, and now Sakamoto aimed to 'defeat' JAA and convert it into his own Convinience Store Chain (or whatever)
Well honestly filler is good depending if it's made well. If it's some random side quest that does nothing to build the characters I would call that bad filler. If it does build on the characters it's good. For example dragon ball z has some good filler tho also some bad filler. It's a mix of stuff so I think what anime companies should do is make a long anime with filler and that stuff and then make a shorter version which is just the original but cut up not reanimated but cut up like dragon ball z kai
Great video! Also i love the fact that Vinland Saga has been running for 19 YEARS, but it still barely has more chpaters than Demon Slayer. Makoto Yukimura takes his time, and has created a beautiful and hard-hitting story
you’re looking at it backwards, bub. the new series aren’t the outliers, it’s the big 3. most battle shonen end around 42 volumes likely because that’s how long Dragon Ball is. (43 if you’re Toriko). it’s rare for them to go passed that. Dragon Ball, Reborn!, Prince of Tennis, Seven Deadly Sins, etc. 42 volumes.
Wow. Kagurabachi and Gachiakuta were 2 mangas I was really enjoying, but I lost access to them and forgot their names, just like with Rebuild World. Daemon of the Shadow Realm looks great. All in all, this video did a heapload for me, and it was made well.
This should not be looked at as a bad thing personally I love anime that respects my time, I can't be watching something for over 8 years I always wanted to watch/read one piece but I can never get far once I realize the sheer amount I need to catch up to. That's why my favorite morden anime is jjk it respects the viewer we are looking and 4 seasons tops and maybe a movie
I recommend checking out The One Piece when that comes out. It's basically a retelling of One Piece with modern day animation. You can start from the beginning and just follow along with it as it comes out!
I don't see one piece ending in 7 years. I give it 4 years. The youtubers don't want it to end because their careers will be done, but OP is closer to the end than they think.
Keep in mind that the only reason why Naruto lasted as long as it did was because Junp would not let the author, Kishimoto, end it, due to it being a massive money-maker for the magazine. The fact that These authors are allowed to end their stories on their terms should be considered a blessing.
In all the anime ive watched, and manga ive read, I have only found one series to have a satisfying ending. Naruto. It wasn't underwhelming, or overwhelming. It just was.
0:43 oh please, they'll probably just make a new one piece series where they travel through the solar system called two piece(chicken mcnugget, i had to make that joke) of 2000 episodes and then another series called three piece where they go through the galaxy with 5000 episodes and then another one where they go through the entire universe called four piece of 10.000 episodes, then another where they go through the multiverse called five piece of over 100.000 episodes and then another-
Only got 2 minutes in but I'm just gonna say that they're ending because, unlike One Piece, they don't want to have an entire 30-40% of their life making one series.
This has been the case all the time, FMA ended in 2011, Naruto & couple of manga ended by 2014, Bleach ended in 2016, Gintama ended in 2019, demon slayer ended in 2020, MHA- 2024.. This is a trend..
I mean long shows are fine, but keeping on for too long is not good for the overall quality as it feels forced and padded for no good reason. Its only natural for an show coming to an end, however the next big 3 is going be just sales number and not how "influential or unique". Given how everything has been explored or overdone nowadays in the whole entertaiment medium (games, shows, books), the standard now is just must higher to standout while keeping a whole different style from the rest.
I honestly think the death of Kentaro Miura really reminded manga authors of their morality. Berserk will never be complete and whatever we get going forward will what his assistants and apprentices give us, not his vision. So they probably want to finish their stories on their terms and write new stories then having their whole career tied to one single property.
Bruh Miura trusted Mori with his vision. He's not going to sully his best friend's memory like that. Otherwise Miura never would have told him the planned ending for Berserk.
Nah mori is an amazing mangaka who id miuras childhood best friend. Im glad i by chance got the reccomendation to read holyland before kentaro died and the same author took over
Tbh I’m actually glad that this is happening cause finally we get too see many anime’s have proper endings instead of a lot of them being dropped by studios.
This is true for example were literally on the last arc for bleach same for demon slayer and many others however we are in a new era as webtoon and Chinese novels are being adapted i cant wait especially for OMNISCIENT READERS VIEWPOINT AND LORD OF THE MYSTERIES they are gonna be hype af.
remember when no one knew what dragon ball was (rip Akira toriyama) now its completely normal for a kid to throw a blanket while yelling Kamehameha. Remember when no one knew what one piece was? Now its normal to see fans of the anime collecting Zoro's swords, or luffy's straw hat. Remember when no one knew what naruto was? Now kids are making hand signs yelling out shadow clone jutsu. Right now, no one knows what these new animes are, were in that phase again, but its amazing to see the legacy they will leave behind in just 5-10 years that will last at least double that.
We are getting many more good manga that are shorter, but you have to look for those titles. I love candy flurry, and it looked like it could be very good and looked like it was going to be pretty long. But it was cancelled in about 30 chapters. But my favorite current new manga is called wild strawberry. It's kinda like chainsaw man kinda and kinda like JJK but there's something special about it. Nothing completely new, but executed so well it deserves a read.
Lol at the thumbnail at 3 anime that have years left in their run. Demon Slayer is still 2-3 years left in its run, My hero has several seasons left so probably another 3-4 years and JJK probably has 4-5 years left in its run.
My Hero at max has 1 season left if 7 doesn't end it. Demon Slayer has a season and 3 movies, and JJK has a bit longer with both Culling Games and Shinjuku needing adaptations
I don’t think there’s ever going to be an episode that surpasses DBZ, Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece. They already ended a long series, now it goes up to 12 episodes due to the young generation's attention span.
Having an ending and executing the ending well is crucial! Writing a conclusion is the hardest part in writing. Next, difficult is just beginning the introductory paragraph. It’s hard ending a story because not only do you have to remember key points that happened in the story, you have to closeout anything still open and the ending you create have to make sense before coming to a complete stop! It hard remembering the key points in long story and something will be missed to closeout. A true fan will ask a bunch of questions if thing aren’t closed out properly. They may ask what happens to a side character that the story mentions heavily about but the author ended the main story without explaining how the side character story ends first. Causing the author to go back and fix it. This is why many people are disappointed with ending for long stories. I love that demon slayer is a very straight forward efficient story. It has a clear goal, it’s short and they can’t mess up the ending! People love a satisfying ending. You’re satisfied with an ending when you’re not disappointed or wanting more story. Everything must comes to an end, no matter what!
JJK finished in only one month is killing me, I really thought that we will have some plot twist with another antagonist (y'all know who I'm talking about, not gonna say more to not spoiled ppl). I really thought that JJK was not ending before reaching the 300 chapter. I really hope it end well 🙏
I like endings my hero was a fun ending i wish for more but its was great jjk ending its a bit scary because how complex the story it is black clover will probably land a really good ending we all know how it ends.OP ending is future knowing oda style of writing but even if he is ending in 3 to 5 years i dont think he can wrap up every lose end maybe he will leave that to be answer on different story after it ends not a bad option
On the my hero academia topic - there are a couple spin-offs and one if them (Team-up missions) is still ongoing, but in the sites it's updated after a whole volume is released.
Becuz stories literally hav an ending... but they end so fast becuz people in truth don't kno how to read manga They're impatient & want instant pay offs, hate training arcs, manga magazine & editor demands as well as demands from the general so-called "fan base"
This is nothing new. Weekly Shonen Jump has always been driven by reader popularity polls. This is also why so many series just kind of end suddenly or anti climatiacly, usually the writer wasn't planning to end it there. A series has to be a consistent hit with readers on a weekly basis for it to remain in the magazine.
"Don't be sad, Roxas...you might forget me, but the memories will live deep inside you..." -Naminé Edit: even though most of the major animes are ending, you can always remember the fun memories you had with them...so you can never forget them
well, you may not know it but 99% of the anime series that exist today are just an animated copy+paste of their manga counterpart of the same name so when the manga ends so does the anime as well.
I get the health issue and i always want the best but there is also an element of time and the opportunity it offers to not only weave a story but a world i mean look at what oda's done with one piece
well for the new big 3 i definitely see 1 of the slots being taken by solo leveling in the anime department and solo levelings sequel called solo leveling ragnarok in the manga/manhwa department (esp since the anime has near perfect pacing and is adapting the SL manhwa faithfully), the other 2 slots are open to be filled and alongside the series u mentioned theres also kaiju 8, hells paradise and choujin x (this 1 is done by tokyo ghouls creator) that have potential to be big hits and in a new big 3 and recently we got a new anime called wisteria wand and sword which has been making waves with how good it is so theres alot of contenders for a new big 3 once jjk, mha,BC and KnY animes finish airing there final seasons and/or manga chapters.
There is nothing wrong with creating a serial story with a planned beginning, middle, and end. It makes it so that it doesn't fall off and ends as a good story
Been saying this is a good thing since Assassination Classroom ended at the top of its popularity at around 21 volumes. It’s better for mangaka to end their stories where they want to end it and not needlessly milk series long after they could have ended like with the big 3. I love the big 3 but those were always the exception. Manga of the 90s,80s and beyond usually ended around the 25-30 volume count minus a few exceptions like jojos and dragon ball.
its just sad that so many animes and mangas are ending so many big titles like MHA JJK Demon slayer and preivously ended series AOT and some underated but heart touching series like haikyuu are ending soon but its the cycle of everything and we have to adapt to it dont know the next big 3 is gonna be a hit or just gonna be a disappointment, i hope it'd better be good
I'm certain that Blue Lock will be one the big 3 because, it's only hitting U-20 cup arc soon, so after that we will have just a word cup too, so it at least gonna last 5-6 more years. Also with a quality of art in manga, it is for sure gonna take over anime world + gonna attract soccer fanbase which counts in billions
i’ve been saying thisss i hope the animation doesn’t get done dirty because u20 arc w shidou and sae will fr gag all anime watchers 😂 the hype is crazy
I agree with your final thoughts. Give authors who’ve been writing and creating for so many years a break and allow others authors/creators a chance to create and keep things fresh.
MHA was in its final act since chapter 306 and Horikoshi had said somewhere around that time that MHA will have around 400 chapters. I am just glad i read the epilogue chapters before I got spoilers.😅

I'd be OK with this if they just slowed down the pacing just a little bit😊
Let's be honest here long form manga still exist but just aren't 15 years or more. One piece is a once in a lifetime manga that won't be repeated.
The seasonal format is the new wave. The problem with it is that every season needs to be good or great.
@@Jonathan-tw4xm facts or else there’s going to be a controversy every single season. Pretty much seasonal has it good & bad things about it. The expectations are extremely high now.
@@revolutionarydragon1123yes it can be 2 weekly monthly every 3 months like black clover hell even yearly is fine if we get 24 chapter
I like the shorter ones, because the longer series has issues with proper power scaling...every villain cannot destroy the world/universe.
one piece isn't ending in the next 5 years anyway
Agreed, Oda has been saying for years. Over a decade at this point even. I’ll believe it when I see it. And so far The One Piece will be replacing the first One Piece series so even when it ends, it’s not really going anywhere.
@@FullmoonPhantom-dn2srand the live action as well if they decide to continue that, after finishing the manga Oda could easily keep a lively hood just overseeing the projects derived from his franchise where he is involved as a producer
Nah watch you jinx it and next chapter Luffy gets an eyepatch.
One piece probably won’t end soon but it’s coming by the end of the decade I would say its entering it’s final saga
@@FullmoonPhantom-dn2sr Oda has done what no mangaka could do, One Piece is and will always be truly everlasting. He deserves an award.
2 factor why anime need ending:
1.the author health physical and mental cuz not all author had same body like example the author of hunterxhunter had infamous meme of hiatusxhiatus but in actualiy the author had reach bad health that need more rest .
2. How long can it continues on cuz not all anime and manga had same length by it own thing.
Watching this after the announcement of JJK ending in 5 chapters hits...
Cell was a very welcome change. The android saga wouldn’t have been as intense without the constant threat level increasing. Teen gohan moment is classic.
Kind of goes to show how important editors are honestly lol even ex-editors
Why Are SO MANY Anime Ending?:
becaose we know and care about them. nobody is gonna go crazy about a fact that a new jump series has started
also the final acts of the series can go for years (3 years for my hero, god knows how many years for one piece)
We're technically in the final act for one piece it has already been like 2 years. I'm predicting it will be like 7-10 years.
It's the end of an era. A lot of these new gen anime came out in 2013-2018. It's 2024 now. They've all been running for at least 5 years which is a long time.
the end of an era makes me so sad but i’m excited for the new beginnings, it always hits me tho.
You're so underrated, this editing, Enthusiasm and Consistency. You Deserve 3 Million
Foreshadowed? Not everything has to be, new chapters or volumes can happen without foreshadowing, twists are what needs foreshadowing and not even all
@@Mari-sg2pp Foreshadowing was perhaps not the best choice of words, but I was more so implying that if you introduce new elements to your story that don't make sense, it hurts the overall continuity and appeal of your story. It can also retroactively affect prior parts of the story, that worked well in the absence of newer, less thought out material.
@@15ag34 that's very right, especially the one the author introduce for milking purpose
Naruto ended in a high note though while yes the madara stuff was bs the real ending was always the naruto vs saskue fight which ended both characters arcs nicely.

the new big 3 ended before the old big 3
I thought the same thing a few days ago.
There will never be a new big 3. There was only the original. Anime is mainstream now. You’re gonna see a lot more trash before the bubble pops. Maybe then we can get quality anime again. Bring back art over profits.
Masterpiece one piece ❌ masterpiece hitman reborn ☑
LoL, this made me laugh
Wtf is the new big three 😂😂
Dawg I swear we have the same mind this is the fourth video we’ve had the same idea for 💀
i think an interesting to take note of is the slow growing popularity in fantasy as a genre.
9:03 right at this moment I got an ad for a solo leveling game

I prefer shorter series tbh. It help the author to be more coherent with their story and avoid having to make stuff along the way (I'm looking at you Toriyama)

I don’t think anything will be as big as the big 3. JJK had potential to join them, but now that its just over, I don’t think so anymore

"Because stories are supposed to end. There should always be a page 1 and a final page."
Because u don’t need 100 episodes canon and 400 fillers 🙃 this anime era is the best era in terms of story and non fillers episodes
In terms of story and it's jjk 😂😂
Idk about story lmao. Mha, black clover, even jjk have mediocre plots overall.
We got some good stuff with undead unluck n some others but idk

This should not be looked at as a bad thing personally I love anime that respects my time, I can't be watching something for over 8 years
I always wanted to watch/read one piece but I can never get far once I realize the sheer amount I need to catch up to. That's why my favorite morden anime is jjk it respects the viewer we are looking and 4 seasons tops and maybe a movie

The thing about OP is that they can just rewatch the whole thing again!
5 yrs minimum
Eh atleast 6 years
Keep in mind that the only reason why Naruto lasted as long as it did was because Junp would not let the author, Kishimoto, end it, due to it being a massive money-maker for the magazine. The fact that These authors are allowed to end their stories on their terms should be considered a blessing.

Dandadan is gonna get more attention after the anime drops so I think it's gonna be one of the best and maybe one of the upcoming big 3 🤔
Only got 2 minutes in but I'm just gonna say that they're ending because, unlike One Piece, they don't want to have an entire 30-40% of their life making one series.
I think one piece will still be going in 5 years and end in about 10 years. But HXH will actually never end now, because THE DAMN AUTHOR QUIT.
This has been the case all the time, FMA ended in 2011,
Naruto & couple of manga ended by 2014, Bleach ended in 2016, Gintama ended in 2019, demon slayer ended in 2020, MHA- 2024..
7:03 Shonen Jump and Jump+ are two entirely different things. Also entirely different arrangements, criteria , etc.

"why are so many anime ending?" because their plot is over
There is also a lot of anime currently starting, such as kaiju no. 8 and solo leveling
Nothing completely new, but executed so well it deserves a read.
quick answer to save your time: Shows end after the storyline's been told
Thanks to that editor of Toriyama we got Cell saga... otherwise this guy was as lazy as I am

Path is clear for csm and boruto. But csm csm still holding the top spot and after reze movie csm will be the new jjk
I hope that even after this ending in MHA the writer will do something more about it...
JJK finished in only one month is killing me, I really thought that we will have some plot twist with another antagonist (y'all know who I'm talking about, not gonna say more to not spoiled ppl). I really thought that JJK was not ending before reaching the 300 chapter. I really hope it end well 🙏
My hero ending is strange tho. Its basically the spongebob of anime lol

This is nothing new. Weekly Shonen Jump has always been driven by reader popularity polls. This is also why so many series just kind of end suddenly or anti climatiacly, usually the writer wasn't planning to end it there. A series has to be a consistent hit with readers on a weekly basis for it to remain in the magazine.

well for the new big 3 i definitely see 1 of the slots being taken by solo leveling in the anime department and solo levelings sequel called solo leveling ragnarok in the manga/manhwa department (esp since the anime has near perfect pacing and is adapting the SL manhwa faithfully), the other 2 slots are open to be filled and alongside the series u mentioned theres also kaiju 8, hells paradise and choujin x (this 1 is done by tokyo ghouls creator) that have potential to be big hits and in a new big 3 and recently we got a new anime called wisteria wand and sword which has been making waves with how good it is so theres alot of contenders for a new big 3 once jjk, mha,BC and KnY animes finish airing there final seasons and/or manga chapters.
MHA needed to end. Horikoshi needs to rest
MHA was in its final act since chapter 306 and Horikoshi had said somewhere around that time that MHA will have around 400 chapters. I am just glad i read the epilogue chapters before I got spoilers.😅
