Thats literally what an apolagy is supposed to be, trying to make things right. Its not a get out of nail free card, every appology that Fails at taking accountability and Display will to do better is not an apology, but an excuse
The best apologies are the ones that explains the situation clearly and blandly, recognizes the mistakes and does not deny it, and takes step to actually apologize to the victims, inviting them and confronting viewpoints in order to fix an issue. without asking for any forgiveness to the audience. that's how you actually apologize.
Nah let’s face it, what actually makes a good apology video is apologizing for something that you don’t need to apologize for, like Matpat. It’s difficult to apologize for something that absolutely needs an apology; perhaps the best apology on RUclips for this is Atrioc since he spent a year actually doing things to help.
Eh, no thanks. Not my cup of tea personally, however a chat about some theories might be interesting. However this ends in 1 of 2 ways, either matt literally likes that, or he hates doing theories all the time, so he doesn't. Seems unfair personally that my only interest is in something he can provide. That's unfair.
He's somebody I don't mind my kids watching, even if it's not my thing. He talks the stuff they like but takes it further and makes them theorize and use their imaginations. It's wholesome.
when matpat left game theory i saw some trash ad saying he deserved it and he should have left the platform sooner to advertise a link on the video i made a reply on my other account but i hope it worked
Yeah, but you gotta hand it to the dude. He still took accountability for something that wasn't even his fault and she wasn't even accused of it in the first place. Gotta love the dude, he's a real champ.
@@troy5094 I think so too. But it’s also that saying it was an accident or you blacked out is a cop out. At least Pewdiepie was transparent even though it doesn’t mean he did it for any good reason
@Why-are-there-handles I think what also helped his case is that this is like the 1 controversy he's had despite about 15 years of videos and streaming. This was a very strange anomaly, and in both live streams and IRLs he's never had another occurrence like this. It makes it easier to single out as a blip.
saying "i just blacked out" is probably the worst defence you can use, because if true, any time you put yourself in a situation where you could "black out" you are enabling the very thing you're trying to apologise for, and saying it while trying to get unbanned from a platform is admitting you aren't sorry and it will happen again. meanwhile if you admit it was a conscious but dumb action, then at the very least, you're able to grow and not repeat the action, because you actually have control over it.
Ay that's me lol 5:10 Jokes aside, Matthew really did take the proper approach in that video, it wasn't one of those "career saving" apology videos that content creators make to save their skin, he was clear with his message to have the fans stop what they were doing, properly apologized on their behalf, and even offered solutions to the problem as well alternate approaches to going about uncovering the secrets of the game outside of bothering local businesses. That's what I love about him and the game theorist team, they're ethical and genuine individuals.
He passed away holding the record for number of kills for two bosses as well, with over 27,000 and 16,000 respectively. Both have since been passed, but they are still incredibly respectful numbers. He had been playing since 2004, and if the cancer hadn’t taken him, would still be playing today.

Sounds like we’re finding a list of ways to make a good RUclips apology! DO: - Take accountability - Be genuine and sincere - Take action to actually FIX the issue you are at fault for in a sensitive and timely manner - LISTEN to your audience. If the majority of people that watch you agree that you should apologize, then maybe you should! DON’T: - Shift the blame onto someone else, ESPECIALLY when it’s CLEARLY yours - Half-ass an apology that doesn’t properly address the issue - be condescending, sarcastic, or otherwise inauthentic; this will just make your audience not take you seriously (shocker, I know) - make multiple irrelevant excuses alongside a single “I’m sorry,” - pretend the issue didn’t happen/ doesn’t apply to you Wow, this kind of sounds like general rules to say a good apology to someone in real life, would ya look at that. Being able to freely apologize comes with humility. Humans are very attracted to humility, they respect it on a deep level. Honestly an apology that I think goes unnoticed is Kwite's. While it's I guess technically more of a response to accusations the way he played it off was phenomenal. He was accused of raping someone he used to be friends with but instead of silently leaving or making a half assed apology, he made a hour long video with his face (he's a faceless RUclipsr) completely debunking every single accusation made and actually making the supposed "victim" be seen as the terrible human they are. I’m not much a fan of pewdiepie, but that 2 minute video is close to a perfect textbook definition of how to give a great apology. No bull crap, just “I was an idiot, please forgive me.”
Pewdiepie not only gave a sincere apology but he moved on from RUclips and carved out his own life. People forget but Felix did a daily upload with no vacation for 10 years straight. He found a way to move with the trends and basically was the #1 channel for a decade. But after the infamous PUBG incident I think he realized he wasn’t happy. And he also knew he couldn’t be #1 forever with people like Mr Beast exploding on the scene. So he apologized sincerely and stepped aside. Dude made his millions & secured a dream life for his wife and child. Total respect. Also another thing about Felix many don’t know is he actually did streaming for 2 years. During that time he took 100% of his subs/donations and gave it to a random charity once a month. So he would give away 200 to 350k a month to organizations in need. He never once promoted this or used it to better his image. Thats why I truly think he’s a good person. Yet some people still hate him and won’t let it go.
One of the few, if not the only person on RUclips that I'm 100% certain is a good and genuine person. He deserves all he got and more, I wish I could meet him someday, just for a few minutes, somewhere quiet and talk for a bit... I know it won't happen but it's a nice thing to think about. Sincerity and regret are great, but what makes a good apology is 1) accountability; and 2) addressing the problem. I don't need to see crocodile tears. I need to hear them say they were wrong - unequivocally, and without any excuse (note that explanations are not excuses, far too many people confuse the two). And I need to hear them say what they've done to prevent the problem going forward. Hell, if you do those two things, saying "I'm sorry" isn't even necessary, because you've already demonstrated it with your actions.
I love Matpat. He’s probably the most down to earth and chill guys ever, just wanting to share his theories and opinions with people on the internet. It’s insane he had to apologize for what his fans did when they should have known better. And to make it better, Matpat followed by his words- whenever there is anything he feels like he needs to clarify or make clear to his fans, he does state it clearly.
It's pretty simple. If you apologize and take accountability it shows you are honest and know you can be wrong. If you shift the blame onto someone else, then it shows that you are not responsible and always think it's someone else's fault never your own. Everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone takes accountability
I think it also depends on the community that is coming at you for an apology because there have been many cases of streamers genuinely apologizing and communities still tearing them apart especially in the art and makeup communities they’re very vindictive over there.

That's the sinister side to all of this. People nowadays feel they are important enough, who aren't even a part of the internet celebrity's personal lives, feel entitled to a stranger's apology when they could just stop watching the content.

Linus didn't lose his CEO position because of the drama, shortly before it he decided to make someone else the CEO while he became CVO (Chief Vision Officer), which is even his title in the apology video

People shouldn't have to apologized publicly for something that isn't there fault or out of their control. As explanation should be enough, but for some reason normal people have a problem when celebrities and influencers do that. Just like they have a problem when an apology is given and the person the apology is meant for doesn't immediately accept it.
Yeah, I'm not really sure I understood why that Dave guy apologized for what his teammate did. I'm also not really sure what his teammate did for that matter. From the story, it sounds like the lady had too much to drink, had a threesome, then got mad at the man because she had too much to drink and had a threesome. Am I missing something here?
honestly youtube apologies in general don't make sense. it doesn't matter how good your apology is, what matters is what the first person says about your apology. im not sure why TheManiiShow got so much support for his apology. everyone shit on him because he started copyright striking videos that were making fun of his absolute shit content, and all he had to do is say that he didn't do it and everyone forgave him and forgot about the reason why they were hating on him in the first place. at the end of the day manii makes shitty videos that nobody except young children watch.
@pawsskibidimandrunk people can and will consent to S*x just look at all the college party's happening, furthermore if all the participants of the threesome were drunk as well which is implied, then everyone is on level ground.
@pawsskibidiman Yeah, but like, why did she get blackout drunk? Did somebody spke her drink or something? I guess it's just not what I was taught. I remember the day I left for college, my parents both said to me "Don't EVER get so drunk that you pass out. It's up to you to know your limits, and we won't bail you out of any trouble you get into if that happens." Like, by that logic of she was too drunk to give consent, you could say he was too drunk to know what he was doing. That'd be super scummy to say, right? I guess what I mean is, to at least a little bit of extent, she shoulda known her limits. Also, what was her friend doing in all this? How is she not being held responsible for rape too?
It would be something. Bet the expensive apologies are those scripted ass ones. Like He is reading a huge ass list of written words and doing some fake actions to get sympathy. Just saying.
Fact check: Linus was already planning on transition Terrence to CEO before this controversy with Billet Labs. He didn’t “lose” his position as ceo because of it.
I have to say I enjoy this style of content more than what you have been making previously, a "Here's the good and bad of-" is very fun to me, and not having an overwhelmingly negative video for 20 minutes is so much better to watch for me.
Yeah "I'm sorry IF anyone's feelings were hurt" isn't an apology lol. "it was in the heat of the moment" is an excuse followed by "I won't make excuses for it" lol. I'm surprised it was so accepted. I don't think it was a good apology, the fans just accepted it more than others lol
@kemerydunn9532 i think the if part of that is because not everyone was hurt by it. I see it more as a saying, "if you were hurt, then this is for you." The best apologies are the ones that explains the situation clearly and blandly, recognizes the mistakes and does not deny it, and takes step to actually apologize to the victims, inviting them and confronting viewpoints in order to fix an issue.
without asking for any forgiveness to the audience.
that's how you actually apologize.

Sounds like we’re finding a list of ways to make a good RUclips apology!
DO:
- Take accountability
- Be genuine and sincere
- Take action to actually FIX the issue you are at fault for in a sensitive and timely manner
- LISTEN to your audience. If the majority of people that watch you agree that you should apologize, then maybe you should!
DON’T:
- Shift the blame onto someone else, ESPECIALLY when it’s CLEARLY yours
- Half-ass an apology that doesn’t properly address the issue
- be condescending, sarcastic, or otherwise inauthentic; this will just make your audience not take you seriously (shocker, I know)
- make multiple irrelevant excuses alongside a single “I’m sorry,”
- pretend the issue didn’t happen/ doesn’t apply to you
Wow, this kind of sounds like general rules to say a good apology to someone in real life, would ya look at that. Thanks for a great video lol

People shouldn't have to apologized publicly for something that isn't there fault or out of their control. As explanation should be enough, but for some reason normal people have a problem when celebrities and influencers do that. Just like they have a problem when an apology is given and the person the apology is meant for doesn't immediately accept it.
If that victim has evidence or the creator makes generic apology then that will make it worse

honestly youtube apologies in general don't make sense. it doesn't matter how good your apology is, what matters is what the first person says about your apology. im not sure why TheManiiShow got so much support for his apology. everyone shit on him because he started copyright striking videos that were making fun of his absolute shit content, and all he had to do is say that he didn't do it and everyone forgave him and forgot about the reason why they were hating on him in the first place. at the end of the day manii makes shitty videos that nobody except young children watch.
How is she not being held responsible for rape too?

had to lose it when he also owns it :)
I have to say I enjoy this style of content more than what you have been making previously, a "Here's the good and bad of-" is very fun to me, and not having an overwhelmingly negative video for 20 minutes is so much better to watch for me.
“17 calls over my shift asking if we’re fazbears” is the funniest thing I’ve ever heard
As a black dude, I can confirm what Pewdeepie said literally had me dying on the floor. Even though it was hilarious, I’m still glad he apologized.
the only ones offended was the cracker ones
Yeah "I'm sorry IF anyone's feelings were hurt" isn't an apology lol. "it was in the heat of the moment" is an excuse followed by "I won't make excuses for it" lol. I'm surprised it was so accepted. I don't think it was a good apology, the fans just accepted it more than others lol
@kemerydunn9532 i think the if part of that is because not everyone was hurt by it. I see it more as a saying, "if you were hurt, then this is for you."
Also, the heat of the moment feels more like an explanation than an excuse. He wasn't excusing his behavior, he was explaining it and said that was wrong of him.
@@Eternally_screaming_idiotHe's also not american.
Americans are the place where this is demonized - Because in other places slavery either wasn't a domestic issue, ended earlier, or they speak a different language.
The "N-word" is something incredibly american and deeply tied to your american history. To other countries it's either a footnote (they have their own taboo words, in brazil Negro, the word that the N-word is corrupted from, is considered correct, because it just means 'dark', which is less dehumanizing than calling people a colour.), or it's... a funny word americans say in movies. The only reason I'm aware how bad the word is taboo is because I am chronically online.
Pewdipie didn't make any argument like this because he knows that american audiences are... usually unaware of other people's cultural backgrounds. Too used to the rest of the world speaking your language and watching your movies means that it's easy to assume that people share a culture.
And also because he knows most of his audience is american, and he feels still responsible for falling under standards and practices. (Much like you wouldn't make holocaust jokes in germany).
@@Eternally_screaming_idiotpeople have a lot of trouble reconciling those 2 things, nowadays: either the person who screwed up tries to use explanation as an excuse, or other people misconstrue the explanation AS making excuses

@@scared_bs AI? humans make mistakes bro
Yeah, I noticed that too. Like it happened at the same time so probably they linked those two and never bothered to look at the real version of the story. I've seen this happen in most compilation videos where they tend to make errors like this because they are speaking on so many different cases which are so nuanced by themselves and yet to speak of them all at once it becomes inevitable that there will be some points of shallow research. Might have been the case for other apologies as well, but this is the one I noticed because I was following this drama as one of the oldest watchers of LTT.
@@KaushikMajumdar15Yeah same dude. Yes Linus fucked up his initial response on wan show and though the Corporate apology might have looked insincere to some(I felt it was alright, LMG is a corporate too), in the end I believe they did try to get better.

I have to respect manii here, he made a good, solid, no bullshit apology video that cleared everything up.
The easiest way to make a good apology are these steps:
1. say sorry but don’t over do it
2. Show your real emotions don’t cry on purpose or crap like that
3. Be mature
4. take accountability for what you did
5. accept the fate and hate
🔥

How to be like him? I don't know... We should ask him really... We need his wisdom
MatPat really is the king. Him and Steph are easily 2 of the most wholesome people on the planet
The problem is that it’s easy to make a good apology when it’s not really you who is at fault; Matpat is essentially apologizing for something they didn’t need to apologize for in the first place.
@Deerjason which is why he's the king. He didn't do anything bad, but still apologized to anyone who may have been hurt by others. Stepping up when you don't need to makes you a king in my opinion
@@Deerjason Easy? Hell, I'd say it's _harder_ to make a good apology when it’s not really you who is at fault. Having to admit the accusations by others of doing something wrong were in fact true and accepting any backlash given.
