- The world's first stealth combat jet, the F-117A Nighthawk, was officially retired in 2008 but remained in "flyable storage" condition. The 2017 defense budget will retire the fleet permanently, as they will be demilitarized over the next 15 years.

This means they have a new and better stealth bomber.
Harvey Dent we have had better already lol
Harvey Dent True, using alien technology.
It means all the jet fighters are becoming obsolete 👎 and useless
Harvey Dent its called the f35
It’s called a drone
Where can I buy one of these after they get demilitarized?
Sebastian Sanlley yeah I wanted one it might just cost like 1000+ kidney..!!
Sebastian Sanlley lmao we all wish but money cant buy strealth tech cause even if it was demilitarized som rich guy from another country could but it and get that design and tech into the wrong hands because we are far more advanced than any other countrys
If you are a rich businessman you can buy one.
That_guy _daniel when they "demilitarize" vehicles the remove the armor, stealth coating, weapon systems including guidance and designation and military communication equipment.
You can find one in a museum in Serbia
I must say that I was really impressed when I firstly saw it on TV. After Serbia, it is no secret that it will be retired.
Johnny Mars They just shot one down because of that idiot pilot opening the bomb bay at 60 km.
@@letusbeatthemeat9805 stop whining about it. What done is done.
@@letusbeatthemeat9805 I don't think any pilot that gets to fly in a F-117 is an idiot...
@@letusbeatthemeat9805 - How else was he supposed to release his ordinance?
@Bhum Brahmavira - The pilot wasn't careless he didn't deviate from procedures in the slightest the mission planners were complacent though by reusing routes
Still the coolest-looking plane I've ever seen.
They only one to beat it is the sr-71.
I can see the ad already: low hours, always maintained and never hot rodded... 🤣
One previous owner only, driven by one old lady
Hello I'm from September 2021,two weeks ago this F-117 Nighthawks just fly with F-15 at a training. That means this airplane are still not retired yet.
A beautiful machine. Can I have one?
King Bladwin IV Just gotta pay some few billion dollars.
King Baldwin IV can i have the money in your bank account?
Sure, come to Serbia we have more than we need
@@reljagajic4101 stfu why are you people all bragging sooo much as if you shot down the Death Star??
Why do y’all even care if it got shot down or not?
When they said it will be demilitarized I swear I almost shed a tear.
Even tho its over 30 years old it still looks futuristic asf
The new definition of irony will be buying a demilitarized stealth fighter as a civilian, then being required by the FAA to put ADSB in the aircraft 😂😂😂
I remember when these became public as a kid. And man it blew our minds lol it was the coolest thing I had ever seen!
Multi-role fighters with stealth capabilities are taking their place. I remember the first time I saw the F117. Air Show at Randolph Air Force Base. MPs had it cordoned off and were on watch with their M16s. This was back in the early 90s.
Nice music.
Abraham Kim stealthy

The first time i've ever seen one of these aircrafts I was driving home on the highway and saw an object in my rear mirror taking up a large portion of the sky. I about flew off the road because i honestly thought it was a freaking alien spaceship.
I read an account from a pilot during the gulf war about using the touch screen on it to guide a smartbomb into a munitions bunker in Kuwait. He said the explosion was so big it turned the night sky into daylight for a few seconds. I didn't know they had touch screens in the early 90's before I read the story.
What the military is basically telling us is that they've developed the next 2 generations of this aircraft 10 years ago.
habib syed I wander what they look like
It's not retired, it still can be seen flying in the Nevada test range
Its probably just used as a training jet for stealth.
It's so cool how it looks like its floating more than it is flying.
These were always my favourite as a kid
This is the most beautiful aircraft ever made
A little clarification, F 117, despite the F, actually is a tactical bomber.
Niidea1986 yeah, when they made the aircraft public, they gave it the F designation to lead foreign countries into thinking it had air-to-air capabilities.
So is the F 111
A Fantastic jet fighter plane.
It deserves a lot of respect.
I just saw one fly over my house. I guess the Air Force still has a small amount of them still flying. It was awesome to see
Me too. I was shocked lol
Actually, I just found out that the Air Force is putting them back into service but they were retired until about mid 2021
can you imagine that. its a 1980 design and developed! how about more the next one!! thanks nighthawk!
1970s......
Most iconic/innovative stealth jet design of all time.
They first time destroyed on the yugoslaviya sky 1999
Budjanovci 1999 ...
They had one of these at NAS Miramar airshow in San Diego. (Early 90s?) Surrounded by Marines.
My 6 year old son:" Marine. Is that weapon loaded?"
Marine: "Yes sir. It is. Please stay back where you are."
Guy in flight suit, (turned out to be F-117s pilot).
"Marine. Let that young gentleman through."
Hope my ex wife still has the picture somewhere.
Taking him to things like that was really fun.
He always seemed to say the right thing to the right person.
Blue Angels? Special guided tour.
And he just ate this stuff up.
The music made the video stealthy!
Best way to go undetected - make everyone believe you're outdated and gone.
Sad day! The F-117 led the way. I loved flying it.
I bet that was the coolest thing ever
I was expecting some Dumb Kid yelling *yOu ArE lYiNg IdIoT*
bro your lying stupid idiot
Saw one of these bad boys fly into and out of MCAS Miramar back in 2020. They have a few airframes still flying out of Nevada.
and yet they continue to be filmed in 2019...
It's for test runs. Demilitarized just means they won't be used in combat.
We in Serbia already have one in the museum, it's a bit deformed, but everyone knows what it is 😀
so sad nobody wants to visit a shithole like serbia to go see it
@@jonathanrivas6421 at least serbia is there longer than your shithole😉
Every once in a while someone makes in a 1 in a million shot, not exactly something to brag about lmao seeing how f117s bombed the shit out of Serbia until a pilot made a mistake in his jet allowed for the once in a lifetime missile shot
@@fubarmofo6969 In the history of aviation, Serbs occupy some of the most significant places. I hope some actually made it to museums
The United States Air Force Lockheed "Skunk Works" F-117A Nighthawk "Stealth Fighters" know as the "Black Jets" where retired April 21th and April 22nd of 2008 from the frontline service with the 49th Fighter Wing at Holloman Air Force Base near White Sands, New Mexico but have been flying over the past few years out of their original home at Tonopah Test Range Airport in Nevada. They have been seen landing at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California and have flow through Star Wars Canyon and the Jedi Transition near Father Crowley Overlook at Death Valley National Park in California as well! They had the HO Tailcodes at Holloman AFB but now carry the TR Tailcodes and the "Black Night" monikers! These are sexy Aircraft indeed!! 🇺🇸👻👽
Yes you forgot to say that one was shot down in serbia (yugoslavia)
Well Atleast we got more newer upcoming stealth planes coming in.
This is so sad, they looked pretty cool
I saw this plane before it was public and no one believed me...relief when it went public..I wasn't crazy
It was like an origami but we all loved it
Real reason its being retired is it has a relatively limited payload for a bomber, hence the introduction of B2.
Those planes are awesome.
Available soon for prime users with 10% discount on an additional purchase of s400 🤣
Another sexy ass metal machine done by humans retired.
wafflehacks67 Actually it was mostly made of wood
F-117A is my favorite fighter jet, I want to buy one.
is not fighter jet, idiot
Not all of them. Your info is incorrect.
Izvinite, nismo znali da je nevidljiv😂
@JamesP - so why are we only one who shoted down that plane hmmm...
@JamesP - Shot 1 f-117 out of hundreds?? The video said that 59 were produced
One shoot one kill no hack just skill :'D
@JamesP - It is because gear we had was already useless in WWII
@@reggiecactus2810 only 1 was used, and that 1 got shot down
F-117 still remains the coolest of all fighters jets!
I am joining the Air Force soon and was hoping to at least sit in one of those
I am greatful to live in this era and to have witnessed the technology if our time. I think living until 50 years ago sucked and I dont think the future sounds so exiting as what we are seeing now...
This makes me wonder , what will replace it
Serbs: Sorry, we didn't know he was invisible!
Advancements on the whole aircraft would make this an airframe for future conflicts :
Airborne Radar , Avionics Etc ...
Cool F-117 ... I was there 4450th Tac Gp 1982 to 1886 McNasty
Awwwwwwwww lol I hope their replacement is worthy and looks as intimidating... I used to love this plane as a kid.
I'm going to go to Walmart and build one out of 1/2 plywood.
It's still flying..
Imagine 1980s now they probably have one thats 20× better
That's just your imagination.
@@trinitikorneli2750 No its common sense sr where do you think the $716 Billion go to? Obviously a sum goes into research and development
@@trinitikorneli2750 you’re delusional if you think these 40 year old stealth fighters are the only thing America has got
Looks like a sting ray
I was at an air museum in Utah, I was purchasing a model of an F-117 at their gift shop, and the cashier said they’re getting an F-117 in their museum depending on what the military decides. So if the military decides to put one of their Nighthawks in that museum, I need to go back and see it
Ngl this jet looks like futuristic design
Been flying for the past year in panament valley in Ca.
They are still being spotted flying. Not sure who is operating them. Could be used for testing, but rumor says they have a few reserved for combat if needed.
That is sad man!!
Sorry, we didn't know he was invisible.greetings From Serbia
тачно данас у осам четрес два
Can I have one of those retired nighthawks? No one's gonna use it anyway😁
Probably the stealth jet with the most kills in battle
(7 months later)
Still in use
Probably to make way for the B-2 replacement, the B-22 Raider.
Nevada planespotters: Oh, I do think so
Looks like something one would use for outer space dog fight
Why everybody thinks that shooting down "invisible" is easy, nothing important. They say that we are destroyed 1 of 750 so if this is so easy why are we only one who shooted it down.
Serbs shot 2 of these and one F-16
Damnit why can’t we keep these things flying
Does anyone remember these being in Johnny Test
No i don't in which episode was it present?
Imagine getting your hands on a demilitarized model...
I’ll be looking to pick one up at the next surplus auction to take my kids too and from school lol
that plane is untouchable in high altitude flight. But when it was in serbia one of that plane was flying in low altitude and being detected by multiple radar. Even if the plane radar signature is too small but flying in a low altitude increase vulnerability of the plane
Isn't that date shown here for Panama invasion wrong?
why are they being demilitarized i wonder?
Any idea who's music that is?
Not true, October 2020 they were operating from Miramar.
Cool, gonna get me one used.
Sad to see it go.
Why did they remove the Lamborgini wheels ? Its like Lamborghini on Wings , I still wish it was Wheels 😓
Wonder if you can buy them used.
Why the tense music?
59 Aircraft manufactured means plenty of spares for maintenance. Do not count them out, they will be utilized in conflicts to come. 🤨
They gonna need this again one day
As of 2020 they are still active
It was used extensively in Operation Desert Storm.
this video aged well
One of the MOST EXPENSIVE SCARP METAL
What a waste of money. They should fly for a couple more decades at that price.
I seen these flying over my house then I was like 5
Still flying in 2019!
I thought they were already retired back in 2009?
Not permanently. Did you read the subtitles?
Chloe Woods they were retired in 2006 , stored right now could be brought back if needed .
tim allen it’s back resting in Death Valley as of a few weeks ago!!
Wow, i though Nighthawk fighter still active till today. I only know this aircraft from 'Ace Combat' game.
