For context the series takes place in the 90s, so the series kind of pokes fun of things like casual racism and other prejudices. However the Christmas episode (episode 7 I think) we find out the cousin of the family Blaire is dating a girl and the show actually handles the topic very well. Where the dad (Seth likes portraying dads like jerks) actually develops self realization and admits to being a bigot ala "I was raised differently" and apologizes to her.

Friendly reminder: Jenna Karvundis, the lady who started the gender reveal party idea, had her party because she had suffered several miscarriages, and this was the first time her baby had survived long enough to ID the gender. It was a celebration of her pregnancy progressing after a great deal of grief.

Oh god. That makes the whole concept of Gender Reveal Parties even weirder. As a German in my almost 30 years of my life I even don't know any person who threw one. How I grew up on the southern german countryside it was always up to the parents if they tell the Gender of their Baby or not. I don't remember one party, just a heads up to the closest family members who then spread the news around the rest of us. We acknowledged the news, and congratulated the soon to be parents on the next possible occasion we saw them personally if they decided to reveal the gender. And if not we waited 9 month until the birth, and congrulated them then.The End. The Gender Reveal Party is seen as a very american thing that's quite strange for us. If someone would threw one, it would give an Impression that this Person watched too many American shows and movies, and wants to fulfill a Dream that hasn't much to do with reality here. They can do it of course, but it would raise many eyebrows under the invited guests.

But if I get this right, there is also a thing called Baby shower, isn't it? That seems to exist longer. Maybe I mixed that up, but that's also not really a thing here. You may get presents here and there like new pacifiers, but most of the Time u get downhanded onesies and clothes, which are just given as loans most of the times, and expected to be given back when not needed anymore.
@@fjs5059 yes, baby showers are absolutely tradition! They began in the 1950s during the American baby boom and postwar prosperity during that time. They were all about consumption as an expression of prosperity. Obviously Germany had an EXTREMELY different experience of the 50s, so I can see why that particular practice would be seen as bizarre.

Here's the thing about sex on Mother's Day: being a mom is WORK. It is different than other non-parental relationships because of the one-sided obligation of care. So, a lot of moms are too exhausted to enjoy sex. Probably, if hubs chose to clean the house, take care of the kids, cook and pay bills equally most of the time, and gifted her something relaxing like a massage or even drawing her an extravagant bath or something that requires nothing in return, sex would happen naturally.

Honestly from my experience some are and some aren't, one of my best friends in highschool was a straight theater kid and he had a girlfriend at one point and the only conflict they ever had was the girl not having seen any Disney movies and more of a joking and excited 'Wait you haven't seen any! This means we can watch them together for the first time!!' and he was just genuinely excited to share a thing he really loved with his girlfriend, buuut my parents are also a thing and my dad's only personality traits are being a Donald Stan and hating every single woman in his life (Despite playing a pivotal role in getting said women in his life seriously dude you MADE me) so it's pretty 50/50 tbh

I would like to tell you all, using my superqueero powers, straights that are okay do exist! Crazy, I know. They come in the form of supportive parents and friends/siblings. My parents are white cishets, but they’re very supportive of my lesbianism and so is my brother and my (few and far between) straight friends. My mom especially is learning about systematic racism and is a poli sci teacher and trying to get me and my brother educated on that topic too. But y’know. They can’t do the renegade and smash random people’s iPhones, so no fyp for them!

But I lagitamatly married my best friend. But it is a common thing fo me to hear from other strait men about how the dont like theor wives. When every day i come home and laugh and have fun talking to the best person I know. I don't know why people stay in toxic relationships knowing what i know now.
