    You just brought something kind of funny about Tien’s tri-beam variants in the video games to my attention here, indirectly. In most of the games where the Neo- variant is present, it’s treated as like… one of his ultimate attacks, and the regular Tri-beam tends to be a regular finisher or medium-super move at most. But the reality is that the regular Tri-beam is really more of an ultimate attack, and the “neo” version is really like the spammable version they have him use more repeatably in regular combat. The games almost always have them backwards in how they function.

    @censoredterminalautism4073 Год назад +2

    Yeah, with some caveats. Even if didn't one-shot them , they wouldn't be able to escape, and the damage would add up. If it held back Cell, they would definitely take a good amount of damage from each hit. The only reason for it not to work would be that Tenshinhan would have to either hit both of them at once and stunlock them to death, or be able to one-shot each one of them individually so the other one can't interrupt.
    Maybe 17's barrier would be a problem too, though I don't know, it may just break right through that. Also worth mentioning that Future Tenshinhan specifically possibly wouldn't even have this stronger version because he probably didn't train as hard, and maybe didn't upgrade it.
    Cell is a different case, though, because he has the power of plot convenience (maybe he got that from his Saiyan cells too), so he could regenerate from one cell, 100 times stronger, and just win anyway.

    To make Tien relevant again all he needs is an even newer version of this...and to learn kaioken. With the insane - apparently thousands of times the power level of the user - multipliers on that move COMBINED with the multipliers behind a kaioken x20, and if he somehow trained with Whis and gained some level of divine ki ability to bolster that even more - then even without him being a saiyan, that move in particular could at LEAST serve as a way to pin a big bad enemy down long enough for Goku and Vegeta or Gohan to prepare some attack, fuse, whatever they needed to do.
    I mean, hell, his solar flare is STILL one of the most useful moves in all of Dragonball when followed up by a destructo disc - which Krillin COULD have used when he blinded Frieza on Namek and just flew away - I always wondered, what if he'd used solar flare and instead of flying away IMMEDIATELY launched a disc right through his mid-section? Frieza's reign would have ended right there. And Tien pioneered solar flare / taioken.
    So HERE's an idea:
    what if Tien learned how to basically manipulate the energy he outputs in the neo tri-beam in such a way that he creates a network of incredible powerful and sharp energy BLADES? Then with an enemy like Cell, it could dice him into cubes, and it'd be incredibly lethal against anyone not able to regenerate or who wasn't SO powerful as to overwhelm even that (like how SSJ2 Gohan caught Cell's destructo discs, which shocked everyone).
    Or, what if he taught the technique to someone in a whole different universe of power, like Vegeta?
    Not that he WOULD, or Vegeta would ever agree to be taught by such a person (by the way, when's the last time Tien and Vegeta actually exchanged words? The mecha Frieza arc?) but if he DID...in the hands of Ulra Ego Vegeta, lacing it with destruction god ki, that move could probaby kill Beerus and even hurt Whis, given how many times beyond its own user it IS in power.

    I agree that the attack could do some severe damage to the androids, but I don't believe Tien has the necessary amount of life force to continue the move long enough to destroy/defeat them.
    I recall in your 16 vs. Imperfect Cell video that you mentioned how we don't know how much damage the Hell's Flash technique did to Cell because it blasted the monster into a giant crater. He was offscreen for a few minutes/panels if you're reading the manga, but he appeared to be unharmed when he reappeared behind 17 to absorb him.
    For all we know, he could've been banged up pretty badly. However, he used his regeneration abilities to recover before sneaking up on 17. One thing to remember is when 17 & 18 made it clear that he had beaten the bug, 16 screamed at them that the attack was NOT enough to destroy Cell and that they should leave immediately.
    Then we have the Light Grenade, similar to Hell's Flash; the attack connected with Cell. HOWEVER, Cell was underwater after taking the blast. Not only that, he was surrounded by his aura when he reemerged (unharmed) and blasted Piccolo. It is POSSIBLE that the attack damaged him, but he regenerated offscreen. I guess one thing we could use to say that Cell KNEW he wouldn't be harmed by the blast was the fact that he willingly walked into it as Piccolo charged/fired the attack.
    The Neo-Tri Beam PROBABLY would've inflicted more damage on Imperfect Cell than even the Light Grenade!

    17 could maybe use the barrier and just wait with infinite energy powering it until tien is tired, but he could also be hit and damaged before doing that and not be able to activate it anymore, so it would depend how smart and blood shoted to kill tien was to kill it in the first surprise hit. 18 and 16 though would probably be in more trouble

Never on a front to front combat. I think he takes that into consideration on why not using it against the Androids.

    I honestly don't know if Tien could have won with the tri-beam cannon against the androids. While the tri-beam was impressive enough to hold back semi perfect Cell, it still didn't do lasting damage to Cell, and did more damage to Tien by shortening his own life span. The tri-beam seems more like a technique of last resort, rather than a technique that should be used at the start, and it doesn't necessarily work against opponents that are significance stronger.

      After neo-tri-beam against Semi-Perfect Cell, Cell had scratches on him while Android 16's punch wasn't even flinching Cell who was superior to 17 and 18 in both 1st and 2nd forms.
      I think that alone proves that Tien could annihilate 17 and 18.

    • @TresBS1
      @TresBS1 Год назад +8

      @@imnot_the1229 Cell getting scratched and knocked back actually shows how powerful the attack is. If it was that weak, Cell wouldn't have struggled at all and plowed right through it without so much as scratch, like has been demonstrated multiple times throughout the series. Did it do a lot of damage to Cell? No. But it inconvenienced the HELL out of him, which is impressive given that Cell was magnitudes stronger than him.
      Semi-Perfect Cell >> Imperfect Cell (Fight with 16) > Kami Fused Piccolo = Android 17 > Super Saiyan Vegeta > Piccolo (No Kami) > Tien
      Based off of that, I believe that Tien could take out the androids. As for why he didn't do it before? Because Tien had no way of knowing how powerful the Androids are. Why take that risk, if maybe it's not needed?? He only used the Neo Tri-Beam on Cell because there was no other options and he was the only there who could do anything.

  • @AceTrainerJason
    @AceTrainerJason Год назад +1

    No, it isn't consistent with things we learned before, Tien had a power level of 1830 compared to nappa at 4000 in the sayian saga, he used a single all out tri-beam against Nappa and it didn't come close to killing him. Even if you want to say his power has halved from his battle damage it still didn't kill or maim Nappa who DID not guard against the strike and was caught off guard which in dragon ball is shown to consistently lower your durability. So if we say Tiens power level output was still based off or near his max and Nappa being off guard lowered his durability by even a third or more its a piss poor showing for the move.
    Now yes, the neo tribeam is an upgraded version of the original for sure, but to make the argument that it could kill 17 for example who can low diff a vegeta that is stronger than a goku who trained for three years post Namek who had a power level of 150 million at that time alone doesn't make sense. We don't *know* tiens power level but its pretty fair to say he is significantly weaker than SSJ Goku on Namek. If we said Tien was around 5 million which is a pretty big high ball all things considered. For him to kill Android 17 who's power level would be over a billion at this point if we had numbers to off of would make this new tri beam to even match 17 be over 200 times his power level, and to outright kill him in one shot would have to be around double his power level so over 400 times minimum, also assumes the android doesn't shot their own blast, dodge, or use their barrier.
    The real answer as to why it held cell back, a cell who was likely well over 1000x more power than Tien, while only lightly injuring a nappa who was a bit over 2x as power as Tien, even if the technique was not as refined is because Tori just wanted to give Tien a moment.
    Even IF we bought into the idea that the Neo-tribeam, which relies on his life force is somehow over 1000x more efficient at converting that life force in the blast, which since he paced himself instead of using one big shot like Nappa and DIDN'T die means we are now talking about well over 10000x more efficient now, why exactly did he not use it in the future timeline? If those androids were really some amount weaker than the present timeline, then it would work even if tien wasn't as strong as the present timeline since they didn't know about the threat which is somewhat doubtful since Tien is known to not stop training in peace time. I suppose the argument could be made he didn't learn it in that timeline and died before he would had to chance to teach himself but now it feels like the cosmic reaching it would take to get here has been stretched too far.
    TL;DR No, it wouldn't have worked, just another example of a Tori moment.

  • @MisterRorschach90
    @MisterRorschach90 Год назад

    They need to make the old characters relevant again. Since tien is not a normal human and has mystical backstory elements, he could be given a new form or technique that utilizes his 3rd eye granting him something akin to ultra instinct, or just a power and perception boost. Or what if he was mortally wounded by a destroyer in a way that can’t be revived from, so he gives his 3rd eye to another one of the z warriors. Chiaotzu is one option. It could also be yamcha, giving yamcha the drive to get back to training. They could even start training with Pan and since she will increase in strength so fast, it can be an excuse for any ridiculous strength gains yamcha or chiaotzu makes. Krillin already has grown a lot. He’s literally ssj level at this point. He’s also a goofball so I don’t get why he hasn’t become the great sayiaman 3. I would love to see gohan krillin antics like the old days.

    If tien believed he could have defeated the androids he would have attempted to. No chance he would allow chiaotzu to be killed again (yes chiaotzu was left out of the initial fight because it was too dangerous for him, but as we saw leaving the androids alive allowed them to travel to Roshi's place where they could have killed everyone there).
    When gero is at the lab would have been the time for tien to bust out the neo tri beam if he really could destroy the androids, possibly all of them according to LSM. Also, I will accept that semi-perfect cell was damaged, but that makes me wonder why didn't he attack imperfect cell after piccolo was thrown to the ocean? Instead, he let someone else step in and risked failure, and failure sure happened (cell absorbs 17).
    And bringing up toriyama not considering tien defeating an android...I think it's more likely he just pulled the cell moment out of his "hat" because all the other heroes were defeated, unavailable, or distracted. It was more about convenience in my opinion.
    I enjoy your videos as discussion starters, I just don't agree with the take this time. Keep up the good work 👍

    There are a lot of these little moments that don't make sense in the Cell saga. Biggest one to me is why Trunks as SSJ grade 2 didn't just one-shot 18 so Cell couldn't absorb her, instead of wasting time punching Cell. Trunks had no reason not to kill her, as far as he knew she was still a threat and Krillin was supposed to have killed her anyway. It's not like he wasn't strong enough, either.

    With 18 dead, Semi Perfect Cell would be enraged and would likely kill Tien before Goku could save him. Regardless, Tien's sacrifice would not be in vain considering Cell would now have zero bargaining chips for when Vegeta begins to thrash him, meaning Vegeta/Trunks would eventually kill Semi Perfect Cell. Meaning Goku lives and everybody else lives besides Tien and 18, who would probably be wished back with the dragonballs anyhow

    If Tien fires it at 18, then I think he only gets one shot. Whether or not he succeeds there, Cell is going to rush him. Say 18 survives, maybe 16 tanks the attack, Cell is going to get his transformation.
    But, say that Tien is able to repeatedly fire. If the remaining fighters are able to defend Tien for long enough then maybe he succeeds. This could lead Cell to run into the line of fire while 18 is being held down. If 16 doesn't stop him then maybe Cell pulls 18 from the attacks as he would come in at an angle to avoid a direct hit and would try to time it.
    This all assumes that Vegeta doesn't interfere. Although I think it's more likely that he hovers there calling them fools.
