One of the best songs ever. His vocals express every emotion and make you feel it. It builds up and explodes.
Rattle & Hum is by far their most underrated album. They caught a lot of shit for trying to sound "too American", etc. but this album is full of absolutely great original songs.
No such thing as an "underrated" U2 album... I think... No, I know you meant to say "underappreciated"...
@@Wolverines77 no it was underrated. This album was trashed by the critics. I used the term that I meant to use.
That album and Joshua Tree were when they were at their peak. About the time Bono flew his hat on a first class seat from LA to London after leaving it there.
This is true. Don't let the 'critics' tell you what to think about an album.
True my friend
Great reaction man. Hey if you want to get a taste of how we first heard them, they had these two albums War, and, Boy. And while they turned into a magnificent band later that you could hear on mainstream radio, in those early days when we first noticed them coming out of Ireland amidst a lot of violence, you would just hear it on the College radio station. And I went out and bought the records and they came through and I saw them in a really small venue. It's definitely more strident and less polished but that same emotion and energy is more raw there I would say. They came from a pretty conflicted environment if you read about the conflict going on in Ireland around that time. But a great entry point they're in one of their first huge progressive radio hits was Sunday Bloody Sunday, referring to a historic incident there
This song has always stopped me in my tracks. No matter what I'm doing, it will be turned up and absorbed into my soul. It's "awe"some.
Can't wait for your reactions to this songs LIVE!! You'll cry so much dude.... I promisse
Great reaction Silas. 'I still haven't found what I'm looking for' and 'Where the Streets have no name' would be my recommendations next. ✌Cheers
This is the end track from a special album Rattle'n'Hum that U2 recorded during their epic 1987/88 US hit tour Joshua Tree; They wanted to "discover" US music, recorded songs with Bob Dylan and B.B.King, and dedicated a song to the fantastic US soul singer Billy Holiday. Both albums reflect US music and culture.
Tip: watch the video/DVD Slane Castle 2001 with the song pack All I Want Is You-Where The Streets Have No Name (both songs flow into each other) to get an impression of U2 live concerts.👍
I love your reactions because you really feel each song!!! Thanks for your sensibility!!! Regards from São Paulo-Brazil
Great review . U2 and emotion go hand in hand . No band has pushed emotion in music the way u2 do
Try these songs
One
Sometimes you can’t make it on your own
Kite
Stay faraway so close
Bad
Where the streets have no name
Still haven’t found what I’m looking for
Stuck in a moment and can’t get out of it
That was so good I forgot how much I liked this song I loved your reaction!
Dude, your reaction to this brought me to freaking tears. This band has been doing this to a lot of us fans for decades. That was pure emotion. Welcome to U2. It gets better.
There's a live performance of this song from Slane Castle in 2001. You should check it out.
Great song, great reaction...I'm glad you're enjoying U2 so far, awesome band
The way you've reacted to U2 i think you'd like the song bad . The studio version is great but you should check out the version at the live aid concert, the visuals and what happened will explain why. Also , look at sunday bloody sunday, one, pride, the streets have no name,... The list of great songs by them is long and worthy of a deep dive👍🇨🇦🥴
I love bad it's always been one of my favourite U2 songs
Seeing "Bad" performed at Live Aid was a profoundly moving experience for me, even if it was through a television.
Bad during live aid.
Queen and U2 totally stole that show. Amazing performances.
If you've liked "With or Without You" and "All I Want Is You", I really think you'll love "One" off of the Achtung Baby album.
For their more political songs and harder sounds, I would recommend "Bullet the Blue Sky" and "Sunday Bloody Sunday" to start.
Then, I would start listening to some of these songs live. A cool video idea would be to hear the studio album version of the song followed immediately by the live version and seeing your reaction to both and which you prefer ❤❤
Can I suggest that, particularly for the political songs, you should look up what the song is about before listening to it? I think that would enhance your enjoyment of the song when you finally hear it.
Bro, first of all, I love your videos so far. This is a REACTION channel.
As much as you've been powerfully impacted by U2... you gotta watch Rattle & Hum, man!
They BLEW! UP! with The Joshua Tree in 1987. BLEW!! TF!! UP!! How on earth would they follow that up?!
Dude... they made A MOVIE! Went on this exploration of American music and recorded the whole thing! So, you get that... AND you get cool concert footage of Joshua Tree tracks.
It wasn't a "level-up" from Joshua Tree... that came with their next album, an absolute MASTERPIECE, "Achtung, Baby!" But it's a fascinating record of one of the biggest bands OF ALL TIME at a crucial time in their development.
Rattle & Hum. In the age of everything streaming, it can't be hard to find.
U2 reminds me of angels dropped from above. ❤
if you think their studio stuff makes you cry wait till you see them live. its the only show where i've seen grown men cry.
it’s so relieving seeing someone closer to my age (21) having this kind of reaction to them; I feel like our generation has grown up with u2 as a band to make fun of, but them and coldplay were the soundtracks of my childhood. not enough people even give them a chance especially after the whole apple thing. some of their songs, including this one (hell this whole era), are nothing short of a religious experience to listen to and it makes me so sad that i never got to see them live during this time
You should check out the music video for this song. Circus on a beach theme. Mainly in black & white. Peter Dinklage (pre-GOT) as one of the main characters in a story about unrequited love. I play that video every New Years Eve, just before I turn in. Last track on 'Rattle & Hum'.
So glad you're reacting to U2!One of thee Best Band's Ever! There Music is full of Emotion and True Meaning 🙏
U2 4Ever Will Be👍
For a more upbeat song try "New Years Day" or "Sunday Bloody Sunday".
Quintessential U2 songs both!!
U2 always get into the emotions. It gets to you. Great Reactions!!!
Another great cut from that album that features the great Bluesman BB King, is
"When Love Comes To Town"
The official video features some historic music locations in Memphis, like Sun Studio.
U2, early. They are sooo good. Love that desert feel. The Joshua Tree was recorded in the desert. Joshua Tree National Park. It creates such eretheral sound.
Bono takes it up eighty billion notches on the emotion scale, and then Edge goes UP from there! Made you get out of your chair! 😆
People sorta laugh at them now but there's a reason they were biggest band in the world for a few years. Prime U2 is amazing!
2 live versions of this song to watch
2001 live from Slaine Castle and let it run into Where the Streets Have No Name
2017 Live from the BBC
Check out All I Want Is You/ Where the Streets Have No Name live video… one of my U2 favorites!!
If you want true goosebumps watch this song play into Where the Streets Have No Name live at Slane Castle. It is just after the father of the lead singer Bono, died. The transition is one of the most powerful moments in live music history imho.
Brother, if you want some great upbeat U2, check out "Two Hearts Beat As One," "New Year's Day," "Sunday Bloody Sunday," and "Electric Co." to start with. I was into U2 when they first came out.
Check All I Want Is You + Where the Streets Have No Name Live at Slane Castle. Best live ever.
I think this was the last song on a side to this album and when I got to it, as usual when I like a song, I played the shit out of it for the next week and was never loud enough. So yeah, it's my favorite U2 song.
Great reaction! This is a highly underrated song from U2. I get emotional whenever I listen to it, just like you did.
Great honest reaction! It shouldn't mean more, but the fact that you're a musician who's played violin, of all instruments, means you know your music! Good Stuff, I'm a legend I watched till the end! lol
Another one! Love this!! For more goosebumps moments, look for live versions of the song!
Bonus>>some of them end with 'Hallelujah' and Bono changes it to 'Alilujah' for his wife Ali who the song is for. Just subscribed, thanks again for discovering U2~
Bro, watch “all I want is you/where the streets have no name” from slane castle. Bono’s dad died a few days before. One of the best transitions from one song to another.
Rattle and Hum was a great album but I liked the songs in the movie better ,so I made an audio copy of the movie and played it in my car .Over an hour commuting one way to work I listened to a lot of U2 in the 80s and 90s
u2 sind die besten, danke für deine ehrliche reaktion
the reason for the long outro is that this song played over the end credits of their concert movie and it needed to be as long as the credits went for.
Yeah, this song really hit me like that when I was in my 20s. It's lovely to see your reaction to it now. It doesn't quite do it for me the same way, now I'm in my 50s (older, wise, not into co-dependent love haw haw haw), but it's still a wonderful pop composition.
Do a reaction to a live performance. U2 is one of rare bands that sound even better live. I suggest Live from Sydney Zoo TV Tour or 2001 Live from Boston.
I'm a legend! 😆
You NEED to do the live at Slane Castle version of this which then goes into where the streets have no name. Bono had just lost his father and the emotion and power in his voice. Wow!
All I Want Is You is undoubtedly one of U2's best songs of all time. Top 10 for sure.
Joshua Tree is a perfect album. Gorgeous all the way through.
One of the best
Should watch with the video.
All kinds of string instruments in here. Probably a chamber string ensemble with violins, violas, violoncellos and double basses.
The prominent haunting stuff was, I think, played by a group of (violon)cellos.
"All I Want Is You" (1988) is my favourite U2 song. Goosebumps indeed.
"October" (from 1981) is (still) my favourite album. Part of their, say, 'post-punk' period.
Versatile band.
Very worthwhile investigating.
In case you didn't know, you're awesome 👍
I know Chritmas is several months off, but maybe you will recall this. U2 does a masterful cover of Greg Lake's "I Believe in Father Christmas"....
My wedding song!
you should try and find the U2 concert movie for this album, I saw it in the cinema when it came out. Sensational. And the live version of With or Without You from that concert is incredible.
You have GOT to watch this song coupled with Where The Streets Have No Name LIVE at Slane Castle. Bono really shines live. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Lightning Crashes by LIVE👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇦🇺
Think you might enjoy “Bad” and “Where the Streets have no name”.
Watch it live from Slane
You should do even older U2 songs like Pride (In the Name of Love) and more from Achtung Baby like "Mysterious Ways" and later U2 like "Beautiful Day".
You should try Duran Duran's "Oridinary World" which is beautiful song.
The best part is that this song is written from his wife's point of view
You need to do Pride (in the name of love) by U2, shows the power of the young Bon's voice
Stay gold man
I love you, kid.
Love your stank face, wanted to hear you play, overall a great reaction!
"New Year's Day" Trust me on this one.
Great reaction. I suggest you watch the official video. Very touching.
Bono spits mad game.
You gotta check out the Slane castle performance of this song
I hope you react to more songs from this record like the duet with b.b. King
Try Exit by U2 , underrated track
Alice In Chains “Check My Brain”
Try "Bow River" from Cold Chisel.
You should listen to "Pride" from U2,one of the best song
Do more u2
forget about this version and watch and react to the live version from slane castle in ireland from 2001
Funny that many of their songs seem to be just two chords. But they make them interesting with the melody, lyrics and Edge’s guitars.
Or live at the BBC
If u feel like shedding some tears today watch “hurt” by Johnny cash and the living years by mike and the mechanics
I think it’s the best song they did
Check out bad from the unforgettable fire or the song the unforgettable fire
Please listen to when Love comes to Town from this record
Nothing compares you by sinead O’Conner. Zombie by the cranberries
do that live at slane with streets. thank me later lol
Try "U2 - The first time"
Bad
In God’s country
Angel of Harlem
Pride (in the name of love)
I will follow
Try some Cheap Trick,ELO,Foreigner,Supertramp,The Cult,
Bob and weave
Have you ever listened to The Cure?
If not... do yourself a favor and start with "Just like Heaven."
The 80s has a lot to offer.
lean in and let God!
Night Owl/ Little River Band👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺👈
Once you her "BAD" live, then its all over....the other 3 don't even come close..so get ready dude.
Never seen anyone react to this.
A song FOR and about his wife.
Wait, you played Trumpet, Piano *and* violin and you didn't stick with any of them? Maybe the guitar should be your next instrument.
O.K. someone get this dude a ticket when the band go around again. Hahahaha!
You really need to listen to "Exit". It's about the mind of a serial killer. So haunting the murderer of an actress used the song in his defense.
