A U2 concert is almost a religious experience. The crowd you see here, could be in any city of the world, and the love would be the same.
It really is especially when they play with or without you gets me everytime i see them live
Some of my best memories are of singing together with U2, Bono, and 75k people on a warm summer night. It really is an experience. Not surprising with how devout Bono is.
It really is a transcendent experience. I've seen them twice and each time I've left in a happy, emotional state.
I was at this very concert...epic.
Like Bono said from Rattle And Hum
Take it to church!
The song "I Still Haven't found what I'm looking for" ❤👌
The guitarist, Edge, really knew how to fill a stadium with sound.
He is uniquely talented and unforgettable
The Original Guitar Hero!!
The transition between these two songs is one of the greatest moments in rock history.
Especially considering Bono buried his father the day before this concert...
I prefer transition between please and WTSHNN like in popmart dvd. it was epic.
Well U2 is rock history, but the transition from Running to stand still to dirty old town, live at the point new year 1999/ 2000, was one of the best concerts i have ever heard in a Radio, while partying
That painful feeling in your head is you trying to think
This concert, at Slane castle, was filmed days after Bono's father died. The raw emotion coming from his voice, the way the band raised him up with their play, and the sheer love from the fans made this performance a once in a lifetime experience. Best U2 concert ever.
😪 beautiful
Lol believe it or not, i was in this croud at Slane.
Best thing about it was coming from my town Cookstown to Slane. Meeting everybody in each town we stopped at just going for one reason. U2 Ive never seen so much love and funny things in my life. Many years ago.
Best live band ever. Period.
I couldn’t agree more and it makes me cry when I listen to it
Word
Sorry Chris 2nd to Queen
Fantastic songs
@@chrisalldis3375 Seen both - Freddie and the boys are good - but the lack of soul shows on stage - U2 deliver that in spades.
Honestly, my jaw dropped when you said you'd never heard of U2. To many people that's like saying you've never heard of Kermit the Frog or Doritos! 😁 U2 have sold 150 million records and won 22 Grammys (so far). You picked two excellent songs for your intro to U2 - honestly, you could probably spend an entire month reacting to their music and never get tired of it.
What is Doritos?
Continental Aquatics That’s so rude! At least she’s open minded and wants to hear great music from whoever! You don’t her environment and where she grew up. She’s only 26 and putting herself out her for us! Give her a break Dude!
.....and never get through their catalog
Nikki Hatfield I wouldn’t knock her for not knowing their music, sure. Not sure how one goes through life not having heard of the names U2 or Bono - forget the music for a second, they are a serious fixture in pop culture.
It’s easy to understand her never hearing of these rock bands of 30-40-50 years ago . I’m sure she is familiar with mega hits by mega stars that you’ve never heard of as well . Rock & Roll didn’t die of natural causes , it was deliberately murdered . Anything that unites people is being destroyed , religion, music , patriotism , you are more easily controlled if they can isolate you
62 year old white guy here. Loving your reaction and your smile, and your appreciation.
Aww, it's so sweet watching a young'un discover U2 for the first time.
Signed, Generation X
You know you're getting old when you hear someone say they've never heard of U2. I know it's common now, but it doesn't come up. Wow. They were known everywhere, globally. Well, it's time for the new generation to pass it on.
Yeah, I think at one point they were the biggest money-making business in Ireland. But I'm kind of always glad when people haven't heard or seen certain things before, because then I can share. And sometimes that person is me.
@@vorbis4860Me too. That's the best thing about reactions. It makes me happy when someone discovers a great song or artist.
I promise to do my best to keep their music alive. 18 years old and absolutely love them, I guess I have my father to thank for that
The greatest live band....
I honestly choked up watching this. I love how you said, "dude, I would love to see this guy live". Girl, a U2 concert is a religious experience. There are no words to describe the vibe of being in the crowd at one of their shows. I've been to so many of their concerts, front row, and it's an otherworldly experience. You'll go from bouncing up and down like a crazy person to being moved to tears by the music all in the space of 2 hours. If you ever get a chance to (if we ever get back to being able to go to concerts - thanks Coronavirus), go see U2 live!
That's the power of bono and the guitarist
U2 concerts are a euphoric, very spiritual experience!!! I have been to 7 over the years, and every one has left a lasting impression on me.
Omg there is so much U2 that you can do, they are one of the biggest groups of all time
A few things to note:
1.) This was just a few days after his dad died, so he was already emotional.
2.) This was at Slane Castle, Ireland, the band's home country, so it was already going to be special.
3.) Earlier that day, the Irish Football Team won a very important game against The Netherlands 1-0. The match was shown on the big screen before the concert, so the Irish in the crowd were ready to celebrate. The drummer was even at the game and flew to the concert via helicopter!
Put all that together, and you get the perfect storm you've just witnessed.
To U2 fans, this was in 2001, when the band was 24 years old. It is now 2022 and they're still at it after 45 years. Slane happened IN THE MIDDLE of their career! In the words of Bono, 'We're just getting started!'.
Just today Bono turns 60. They are getting old but on stage they still have TONS of energy
We are not old. We lived through the greatest three decades of music. The 60s, the 70s and the 80s music changed the world. Don’t cast aside that experience. I am the same age. I was there when U2 won at the Grammys over Michael Jackson. Jackson was HUGE back then with Thriller. Boom... it was magic.
60 is not old anymore.
U2 is one of the biggest rock bands of all time. i saw them twice at Stadium concerts in the 90s. One and I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For are two of my favorites by them
I don't know if someone has already mentioned it, but what makes this performance so special and the reason why Bono is 'shouting' towards the sky during the intro of "Where the streets have no name" is because he had just lost his father a week ago and this gig takes place in their hometown, in the iconic Slane Castle in Ireland (where the band is from). Loved your reaction! It seems so funny & strange to me you didn't know U2! There's countless of brilliant U2 performances on RUclips you can enjoy. I'm a superfan, so I'm biased hehe, but no band beats live U2! Simply the most electrifying band for more than 4 decades.
This show was literally days after Bono buried his father and you can hear it in that wailing cry before the start of Streets.
I got that too. The way he sang it was like a cry from his soul.
@@stevenhayes859 The whole show was emotional. Search the song "Kite" live from Slane Castle
he actually buried his dad that morning
And when he sang Kite, he almost lost it.😔
My lisence plate cover,
When I Go There
I Go There With You
As a lifelong fan I love this. Her reaction is priceless! I think we just saw a new fan created right in front of our eyes. 💚
Yes I am sobbbbing 😪💧 this was my moms fav band, seeing the reaction of a new listener is beautiful
The reaction you have to the greatest rock band in the world for the last 3 decades is possibly the sweetest thing I've watched on the Internet. Thank you for restoring my faith in humanity in such a screwed up world.
Probably the most innovative band in the last 30 years
Probably... but their stuff from between 30 and 40 years ago is still my favorite!
Wow, do more U2! Always love to see people discovering this Band!
As I'm sure everyone has already mentioned, U2 is one of the most well known rock bands in..ever..pretty much ever. Bono's voice is iconic. You should react to their Live Aid performance of Bad. It will melt your face off. 😁
You really need to watch Sunday Bloody Sunday live at Red Rocks. Hands down one of the best live performances to date!
Me too Shannon Bear! It’s my favorite!
YES Sunday Bloody Sunday is what made me fall in love with this band in 1983 seen them live over 30 times... Bono's voice was probably the best from 83-91 when he was in his prime.... do any reaction to any song during those years and you can't go wrong.. and you will hear Bono's vocals which were pretty much in a class by themselves
That DVD...LOL REALLY WAS A VHS at a house party. Live from Red Rocks and I've been a U2 fan ever since! Seen them 6 times. The live performance sounds so much better than any CD.
@@boazbell38 my favorite battle march with those drums
I think the Rattle & Hum Sunday Bloody Sunday is even better. The band was angry and passionate that night because of what just happened in Enniskillen, and that added to the layers of the song.
Where the Streets Have No Name was on "Joshua Tree," which came out in 1987. There's not a bad song on it and it's the album that made U2 the biggest band in the world, a title they arguably still hold whenever they feel like they want to. They can still sell out stadiums and they're still making great music. Yet, I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE for you to see them when they were basically kids finding their way, offering unmatched energy that might bring tears to your eyes the same way watching that clip with you brought tears to mine. So, if you'll take my word for it, please do this one: ruclips.net/video/yohnJNx8M3g/видео.html … and then this one: ruclips.net/video/HvBgRSSlVBA/видео.html … I PROMISE YOU, both will knock you out in the best possible way.
Yeah the bad song was on Unforgettable Fire
I have been a fan of U2 since the 80’s, I really enjoyed watching your reaction. They have a wide range of songs. The first song I ever heard of U2 was Sunday Bloody Sunday and I was hooked.
This was a Bono (2001) way past his prime and it's still an amazing performance- that's how good Bono was. Listen to U2 in the 1980s to hear Bono in his PRIME.
skatemetrix Bono’s prime will never pass, foolish child.
Mainecoonlady Still a great live band but unfortunately Bono’s voice is not what it used to be. Not his fault, we’re all getting older. Doesn’t mean I won’t keep seeing them but he’s lost a step so to speak.
Was?
Bono still has a beautiful voice,
Of course age changes vocals but he can still hit those notes he knows so well!
For instance
"Every Breaking Wave"
Lord have mercy! That man can sing so sweet!
Then swing 8nto "Blackout"
That's total diversity!
B man is the master Showman!😉❤👌
The singing to his Father at 6:15 and on to 7:25 brings me to tears everytime I see this.
I lost my Mother when I was 3 and she was 28 in 1984
I feel his pain and yearning here
Such raw emotions losing a huge part of your entire existence
But the first time I ever saw this and everytime since, I get it, right into my core
Because I feel what he feels.
To anyone out their missing a loved one or having testing times
You have my love, thoughts and prayers
Peace to all who can find it or have it.
Ps, your reactions in this are such a joy to watch
U2 fan since 1995, Fave band of all time
My favourite band!
And today is Bono's birthday =)
It's so nice to see more people listening to them. Try more, you won't be disappointed ;)
They made a movie called rattle and hum when they toured the states. Definitely worth a look
Just watched them tour it for its anniversary 😍😍
@@Anonymous-lg8go
Isn't it a fabulous film!
They are so ypung vit they knew what they wanted! Loved the part where Bono gets Larry on Elvis's Harley! He knew how to swoon the ladies!😂👍
And fantastic footage on top of the Liquor store in LA,!
I missed, I had to work that day! Ugh!😬
U2 is my favorite band ever but this performance specifically just illustrates how Bono conveys emotion so well through his lyrics and his voice and how the rest of the band creates a sonic atmosphere that reflects it so perfectly
You should watch U2's appearance in the Super Bowl 36 Half Time Show, it was the Super Bowl after 9/11, talk about a religious experience. Bono has said we sing "Where The Streets Have No Name" when we need God to walk into the building.
I loved this reaction. I love when people discover bands they never heard of. You just discovered one of the biggest bands in the history of rock music 👍🏻❤️
you go to a U2 concert-everyone knows all the words and sings all the songs-the band cuts back and forth letting the audience cover parts
Loved your reaction to U2..... your smiles were beautiful and your jamming dance was fun. Thanks for your reaction...take care and be well. Peace.
I was 10 feet from Bono during this. You can see my young 23 year old face in the crowd. Still brings me to tears 20 years later. U2 forever!
Bono can make you smile and cry with his lyrics, he sings to all of us there, and all the songs are about real life, no bull!
That transition from All I want is you into Streets......that is the sound of a man mourning the loss of his father in front of 100,000 people. Unforgettable.
Obama's campaign song was "City of binding lights"by U2,and they played at his inauguration celebration, look it up, it's on RUclips
*blinding lights
I saw them in 2011 with 70,000 of my closest friends. Best concert ever from the biggest band in the world!
My wife Daphne passed away almost 10 years ago exactly. At the funeral, all I want is you was played. I cannot listen to the song without crying. Thank you for your reaction.
Me too, my dad passed and this was his song
You probably will enjoy 'Kite' Live from Slane Castle even more. There is a point where he is on the edge of crying his eyes out while singing goodbye to his father, he had to bury a couple of days before the gig
Another favorite of mine is "Mysterious Ways" Live from Slane Castle, he dances with his daughter on stage, you can see the joy on the frontrow fans. Absolutly loving it
I really enjoyed watching this video. Your facial expressions are priceless, and your observations are right on the money. Good job!
I wonder if you realized that the video you watched is almost twenty years old now, or that U2 still consists of the same four guys, still making music and changing the world. It really is amazing that there are people out there who don't know about the biggest band on the planet, but I guess that not everyone is as open-minded as you are...a quality I praise you for, by the way. If you are really interested in learning more about U2, I recommend that you start with their album titled The Joshua Tree, one of the best selling albums of all time, and work your way out from there. As someone else said in another comment on here, it is time for a long deep dive.
It gave me joy to see your face react with excitement and emotion. I have known and loved U2 for more than 20 years. Check out all of their albums.
This was a nice treat! Not many reactions to this band. U2 made a ton of great stuff. The second song in this video came from the album "The Joshua Tree", which became their mega-stardom album. They were already a big act, but that album elevated their status significantly. Please try "Pride - In the name of Love" from the Rattle and Hum tour that supported the Joshua Tree. It's deep, be ready. And Thanks Miller!
Prides originally from the album The Unforgettable Fire.
Heck yeah girl! Loved the reaction. Glad you got to experience that. 😀
I LOVE this band!! I have seen them more than 20 times!! Best live band EVER! So glad you were able to experience the live versions of 2 of their iconic songs!! ❤️❤️
So, I remember watching this the first time in about 2005 when I was getting into the band. Watching your joy in reacting to this literally had me on the verge of tears. This band is so special to me, so special to so many. Being at a U2 show is absolutely transcendent, and I’m so glad you enjoyed this. :)
I loved this review. Seeing something I love through brand new eyes just took be back to when it was brand new for me. Awesome job.
The best live band in the world..... And the best dish export just behind Guinness 😄. Great video
When you go to a U2 show,it's a rock show where church breaks out!,
I love watching you love U2. They're so great live! Yes, Bono has so much energy. He turned 60 last week!
U2, from my home country. One of the greatest rock bands in history. You need to get out more ;)
Fantastic reaction video, thank you 😊 I see how moved you were which moved me
You are watching arguably the best live band in the world! I’m so happy to have had the opportunity to see them live. It is an experience, i was buzzing for days afterwards. FYI they have written songs for the likes of Tina Turner too.
On numerous occasions they have brought the US to a standstill when in town!
From the same show you have to react to kite!! Mind blowing
Girl, I felt you feeling that ❤️ I didn't know I need that. You put a huge smile on my face, thank you.
This is my most favorite reaction video of all time! I watch it every week or so just for a smile! Thank you so much!!
U-2 is an Irish band from Dublin. The lead singer is Bono.
You brought a tear of joy to my eye, watching you discover U2 - it’s a beautiful experience hearing them for the first time. God bless you!
Just got yourself a new subscriber.
What a great response to this video. So cool how you appreciate this performance. I have been a u2 fan for 33 years and I still get goose bumps watching them. This is one of their best live performances ever. I can tell you are a person filled with love and appreciation because you responded so genuinely to the passionate and love filled show. It looks like u2 won you over just like they did with millions of us. :-)
I love your reaction. Great video. This is U2's amazing 1-2 punch!!!
I must say your reaction to the songs was very touching, I love this band, I was lucky enough to be at this concert, omg.
Omg. I love you girl!! U2 is by far my favorite band and in my opinion the best of all time. I absolutely loved watching you come alive, you gave me chills. Love that a new generation is discovering them. Please listen to With or Without you and Sunday Bloody Sunday. Watching them live in concert is one of the best things you will experience. ❤️❤️❤️
Ive been waiting so long for someone to react to this version of this song!!!
U2 is awesome ......GREAT REACTION
Having only had the privilege to see them live three times, it's an experience everyone should enjoy once. Rollercoaster of emotions. Love that U2 are still finding new fans after all these years.
Watching @thejayshow watch @U2 just made my day. Listening to U2 takes me to my happy place.
This is the most beautiful U2 reaction I've ever seen. Thank you very much. Can I have some more, please.
This is the first video I watched on this channel, still is one of my favorites to look back on. Congrats to the 100k Jayy! Much love!❤️
That was awesome! Loved your reaction! That band changed my life for the better. Glad to see the next gen can still be emotionally touched by those guys
I've been a fan of U2 for 33 years, they are magnificent! Always have been always will be! Seeing them live is very much like a religious experience
Please list to more of their music
You'll be extremely impressed!
And you too will become a diehard fan!
They are all humble and lovely to meet!
U2 is my miracle drug and Bono's voice will surprise you at every corner!!!!!
U2 is the soundtrack of my life!
You have One Love written on your wall behind you....you absolutely MUST listen to the song "One" by U2 next! I was 18 years old going to this show at Slane, just magical.
This song goes straight to the heart and you can hear the pain in his voice.
So glad you got to see this 🥰
Such beautiful guitar work and that voice! Anything off The Joshua Tree or Acthung Baby please
Still gives me chills
One of the most powerful moments/best song transitions in Rock and Roll history. Absolute LEGENDS.
I am reacting now because I see the video now. I saw them live in 2001 in my home grown city, Mtl, Canada. We love you JAYY. Always be true to yourself and real as always Gurlll...
U2 is my favorite band of a time! They fill my soul every time I listen. I go into some state of nirvana at thir concerts. I'm so happy you got to experience them for the first time with this video. I love it when my friends actually give them a proper listen with me, because I feel like I'm sharing a part of my soul with them. I felt that with you in this video! This was a powerful place to start. All of their albums sound different from each other, there is a lot of variety, but they're all instantly recognizable as U2.
Welcome to the U2 family. I loved your reactions.
I'm so glad you've found U2! Really happy you like it.
You chose one of the best versions of these songs. I can tell by your emotional expressions, your appreciation for great music.
Feels like I’m hangin’ with a friend just chillin and listening to great music.
Bless your adorable heart! You just made my week! I wish I had of been in the room with you!! I had soooo much joy and fun watching you appreciate a band that I have loved since the 80's. BTW, he met his wife Ali when he was 16 in high school the same week he and and his three high school friends formed this band. Also, when he says, "All I want is fucking you man." He was talking to someone who threw and saturated him in water 30 seconds before. Watch again. Hilarious! Bono is my hero!!! More than a rock god - a loyal husband and friend, an activist and a philanthropist. He is a rare and talented breed! Thank you for sharing your reaction and appreciation! It made me sooooo happy!
So glad you enjoyed U2. They’ve been my favorite band fever!
The singer Bono when the one song transitions to another lost his dad two days before the concert and he dedicates the song to his dad its one of his best performances because you can hear the emotion in it.
U2 is my all time favorite band! Been a fan for 37 years!! So exciting to see you hear them for the first time! I promise you, keep listening to them...they will bring you so much peace, joy and inspiration!!❤️
Check out the 2002 Super Bowl halftime show. Only a few months after 9/11. U2 delivered an incredible performance honoring the moment. They formed theirs band as high school friends over 40 years ago, and they’re still at the top of their game with mew music and incredible live performances.
Bono’s voice is amazing her grew up listening to his dad singing opera , his dad was his hero so for him hitting those notes is as if he’s an opera singer … love U2 !
This is the greatest song transition I have ever seen in my life! the way he wails to his father who had recently passed is heart breaking. It's sooo beautiful.
how is no one recommending U2 with or without you, such a good song
Great reaction... glad you finally found U2.. read up on them. You can still catch them live and they have been around for 4 decades and still sell out world tours. So many awesome lives performances on RUclips to check out. You earned a sub from me.. hope you react to more U2.
Should also share a clip.. Bono has been married to his wife Ali since they were in high school and he just turned 60. So here is a song from the 90s where once his wife found out it was written about her she demanded she got to donate the profits.. band agreed. She is featured at the beginning of the official video. ruclips.net/video/5WybiA263bw/видео.html Remember this was and is one of the biggest rock bands in the world being ok with releasing a song this sweet.
These guys in concert are incredible ❤️ one of the best live bands on this planet
Amazing reaction!!
Fun's fact: The lead singer (Bono) was struggling a lot at this show because of his father's death!! The performance of "Kite" from this concert is such an example ("The last of the opera stars"; his father was so much into the opera). At the very beginning of "Where The Streets Have No Name", he said "Bob, Shammol. Sing this song for him, sing this song for Bob, for him!!! YEAH!!"
I’ve seen U2 six times live and they are the BEST LIVE BAND IN THE WORLD. Enjoy U2 music. Well done.
it's funny having someone in 2020 say the band is pretty good..lol... U2 is legendary...
Listen to the studio with the lyrics......I can't listen without tears. Heard it a thousand times..... Also the second song, watch the video from LA even they decided to play on a roof during the day ..... That is awesome in every sense of the word
I’m a new subscriber. Enjoying your reactions. Don’t feel badly about knowing “old new” music! You have decades to explore! I’m watching from your oldest videos to newest and picking my favorite artists. Then ima get brave and watch you react to artists unfamiliar to me :) keep up the work! Also, love your T shirt 💪🏼
baby girl you gona learn! U2 is one of many go 90s and back to start!
Beautiful reaction to the GOAT! I loved watching you hear this band for the first time as it was similar to my own reaction when I heard Pride (In the Name of Love) in 1984. I've been obsessed with them ever since. Thank you for your wonderful reaction.
