    I bought the Podium F1 upgrading from the CSL Elite. I didn't need more force feedback but I wanted more feel and faster force feedback. The CSL elite now feels jerky and slow to react since the belt has to switch directions. This uses magnetism which is super fast smooth response. The Podium is 100% worth the price. I am selling my CSL elite to lower the price. Podium Rocks!

      GamerMuscleVideos i own the same DD1 set and use it on PC, and its not bad by any means apart from the usual Fanatec terrible quality control, disgraceful security, and virtually non-existent customer support, but i do find it rather hard to take these sort of videos as "unbiased reviews" from the likes of yourself and particularly Sim racing girl, due in large to the fact getting such an expensive item essentially free is an instant bias, youre going to be a lot more critical of an item you had to actually pay for and especially if it is £1600.
      I do enjoy your videos though, some are quite funny to watch :)

    • @slatanek
      @slatanek 5 лет назад +1

      redSKORPION50 I view it this way: if a reviewer says: "disclaimer: I got item X for free" it basically translates in my head to: " look out I'm gonna be slightly biased. I'm not gonna lie when there's a serious issue but I might unintentionally let something slide".
      That's human nature 101. Unless you're Barry Rowlands - then you're gonna take the sucker apart no matter who send you what. God bless the man!

      slatan slatanek couldnt agree more really, Baz is a top fella, and i do trust his reviews and his knowledge. The man knows sim racing.
      Some youtuber sim racers i watch their videos and just shake my head at times... This isnt one of them, but when i watch one that says "im 44 seconds down but im 15th in the world..." Ummmm really?? I was 17 seconds down on the same stage and 362nd in the world... You gotta wonder...

    For the QD mount, just unlock the locking ring completely, and add a bit of lube to the threads, as well as a little dab of lube to the rubber locking ring, as it will become much easier to swap wheels. You'll also avoid the threads to get ceased (as some have struggled with), and it the lube will let the QD mount slide over the rubber like nothing, and you'll avoid smacking your face in with the wheel.
    Regular bottom mount works fine, but side mounts are superior, that's for sure! Not sure if the Fanatec side mounts are worth it, but Sim-Lab provides a pretty nice alternative, for roughly 1/4th of the price Fanatec is charging. And they have sidemount options for both the P1, and the GT1 EVO (same price for both options).
    The need for only 1 USB from the wheelbase to the PC, to run the wheelbase and all the needed peripherals, is a godsend! As far as i know, there's no other DD option out there, that does this.
    They've pretty much nailed it for me, the tuning is convinient, and easily accessible from the wheel itself, no need to have a software running in the backround to make adjustments, no need to restart the simulators/games to have the adjustments take effect etc.
    The only thing remaining now, is to have a official full released version of the Fanatec tuning software!
    10/10, would sell my kindey again.

      Did the same thing. Put Dielectric Grease on the rubber and threads. Fixed the problem.

    • @Mikey6048
      @Mikey6048 5 лет назад +1

      @@marble25 The ring in the back pushes the rubber inwards. Making it swell inside wheel. I've ran my DD2 hard, and it has yet to come loose. Adding a small ammount of grease is not a problem.

    • @RoarS89
      @RoarS89 5 лет назад +2

      @@marble25 It's not like you have to drench it in grease anyways.. I used a tiny bit of teflon spray on the threads, and just some regular lube that doesn't harm rubber, just to make it slide on and off a bit easier.
      And yes, the rubber ring is forced to expand inside the QD mount, to remove play between the mount and the wheel itself.

    Would love to setup a public racing place with a suite of motion rigs, these wheels and vr where people can arrive and drive or where we could run competitions. Similar to a go kart track but indoors for all weathers.

    Fanatec is the Apple of simracing - they lock you up in their ecosystem and your f***ed for life. But seriously it's reassuring and convenient that my soon to be CSL Elite F1 rim will happily run on the Podium base in the future. Concerning longevity I'm currently still rocking the Fanatec GT3RS V2 and it's the seventh year of abuse and it's still going and all the buttons work. I'm actually amazed by that. Thanks for the review.

    Fanatec has beautiful hardware, but bottom line it is cost that stops me from looking that way or any direct drive systems. I find myself sticking to the higher end TM gear - happy with my update to TS PC Racer, T3PA pro, TH8A and Sparco Mod handbrake plus a couple of wheels. Not nearly as nice, but the whole setup cost me a lot less than just the basic Podium set without extras.
    But if money were no object I'd picked up the Fanatec set for sure.

      John Cleave well something I did not mention is that I don’t want to order Fanatec from Germany. So it is cost, satisfaction with my current TM gear - including the pro peddles with conical brake conical - AND availability. I can appreciate good gear, but for now it is a done deal and I am not looking at replacing anything.

      I have had the Logitech G29 and now I have two rigs. A Playseat Evo rig with TM T300RS GT (good wheelbase, steering wheel is ok), t3pa pro (lousy quality and do not recommend these pedals at all) and my SimLab rig. I have CSL Elite, Clubsport v3 pedal with Sparco pedal, TM Sparco handbrake (use it only as seq.), Fanatec handbrake and TM TH8RS (soon I have Fanatec shifter). My opinion is that Fanatec is in a higher class than Logitech and Thrustmaster.

      Choose the CSL elite + for the start.
      Can explain you why
      Easyer handling because less FFB, Lower price and you can possibly sell it faster because a DD wheel is highprised. And until no ps5 combatibility is confirmed its possibly a good choise for the start.
      Pro for the DD1? Its a DD wheel that meams you have more FFBs and and and, you have a base combatible for all racing games in the past and future, a long live setup for the next 5-10+ years in the DD class.

    From my little time trying out the podium wheelbases I feel they are just more powerful versions of the clubsport v2.5 while the simucube 2 felt like it added another level improvements on the ffb.

    • @gbessette40
      @gbessette40 5 лет назад

      I own both (CSW v2.5 and the DD1), the DD1 does not just feel like a more powerful v2.5. The fidelity is way higher, not even in the same league. Don't get me wrong the CSW v2.5 is the best belt drive wheel to date, it is just not a DD. It does not have the strength, speed or fidelity. Sim racing since 1998 (GPL), I have had many FFB wheels, Logitech Wingman Formula Force, DFP, G25, Thrustmaster TX, CSW v2.5 and now the DD1, so I feel I can speak to this with some authority when assessing belt and gear drive wheels. I cannot speak to the simucube 2, I am sure it is awesome as all the reviews of the original are great (small or large Mig/other motor). yungdadi, where did you try all these wheels (CSW v2.5, DD1 and simucube 2) to gain this conclusion? How long? What sims? No disrespect, statement seems pretty casual, still, I find it inaccurate.

    If you buy this and run it under 50% you're pretty much throwing your money away. If you run it at 40% (8nm) you would just be better off buying a Fanatec Clubsport v2.5 for a 3rd of the price, maybe even cheaper on Ebay because it can do 8nm max. And if you run it at 30% (6nm) then you could have gotten a Fanatec CSL elite for like $300 and just run it on max settings (6nm). The point is DD wheels are more for simulation and would probably benefit someone who's training to be honest. If you like to race for hours on end without having your arms feel like jelly or like they're about to fall off in 15 minutes and actually enjoy the game just get the Fanatec Clubsport v2.5. It's all the power you'll need for gaming and it has great FFB and is also smooth and quiet.

    After 4 years of Accuforce I thought to give one of the new DD's a go anytime soon, so I tested the DD1 and Simucube 2 both twice at the Expo. Long story short: the Accuforce might have another four years until SimXperience releases a new wheelbase.

    • @Leynad778
      @Leynad778 5 лет назад +2

      @@2Old4Forza Yes, the FFB was IMO not even close to the Accuforce with my Sim Commander settings. Not just the missing engine- and road-vibrations from the telemetry made the others too lifeless. The dampening feels more natural with the AF and much better car & tire connection in four different Sims. It's likely Sim Commander which makes the big difference here and they and I had four years time to tweak the settings, but the most important are not available with any other wheel anyway. I'm just trying my AF without Simvibe and motion if my impression was just coming from the other devices, but no, my FFB is better at least for me and by a landslide. I could order the S2 and Fanatec DD tomorrow if i want, but that's not going to happen.

    Umm you're using the quick release wrong. You have to unscrew the gold thing on the base completely and make sure you're fully pulling back the blue release on the rim. Then you can screw it back into contact with the rubber ring. Also, how did you get the oled screen and shifter lights working with Assetto Corsa? Mine only works "fully" with F1 2019 and partially with iRacing.

    • @DomB_Fanatec
      @DomB_Fanatec 5 лет назад

      I didn't really see GM use the QR incorrectly in this video. You only need to loosen the gold locking nut to the point where the rubber sleeve is no longer being compressed. It's not necessary to unscrew the locking ring all the way back each time - if you go too far back it can create some 'stiction' against the black clamp ring.

    With the new upcoming wheel adapter to enable other wheel rims and with the upcoming software, can you confirm something no review seems to cover.
    Can PS4 & Xbox be played with PC USB based pedals?
    Or does compatibility for these require "Fanatec Pedals" to be installed.
    If so, this is a major drawback of the PS4 Wheelbase for PC sim racers that use the popular and high-end pedals. If needing to change pedals and then the need to still purchase Fanatec pedals defeats the purpose of multiformat compatibility between PS4 and PC titles.

    • @momorious
      @momorious 5 лет назад

      You can always use 3rd party Pedals when connected to the pc by USB of course. No problem at all, you just only can connect Fanatec Pedals to the Fanatec base, of course. However, therefore it's not possible to use 3rd party Pedals on console, that's a Fanatec exclusive right in the DD world.
