    ADDITIONAL INFO
    ----------------------------
    Torque vs. Force:
    |M|=r*|F|
    M is torque
    r is radius
    F is force
    Thus, to calculate the amount of force at your hands, divide the torque figure by the radius of your steering wheel.
    Example: 20Nm of torque on a 32cm wheel: 20/0.16 = 125N, i.e., 62.5N per hand.
    (In the video I say multiply force with diameter to get torque, which is technically wrong, as it is the radius, not the diameter. But you get the idea.)
    GT Omega Pro users:
    In the video you can see the “pitch plates” I made for the wheel deck. They pitch it up by 15°. In the lowest Position, the GT Omega Pro wheel deck is even pitched down a little (2.5° on mine), resulting in a total steering wheel angle of 12.5° on my rig.
    svegraceway.com/files/pitchplates_overview.jpg
    svegraceway.com/files/pitchplates_printout.jpg
    This will only fit with the extension bars attached. I don’t guarantee it’ll fir on your rig, so measure it for yourself to make sure it’ll fit. Make sure the printout is unscaled (check by taking a ruler to the printout)

    Wow! This is the most comprehensive review and analysis of any product I have seen. As I have been sim racing for 20 years (since the earliest GPL days), I have enjoyed the growth of the hobby and continue to be amazed at the level of technology available. The expertise that has gone into producing this video is similarly astonishing. Very well done, sir! Needless to say, I have liked and subscribed.

    Cool review in general with a lot of information! I appreciate the high effort but would like to comment some things though:
    2:15 - the torque key makes it safer because when you have kids that tend to play with your stuff you remove it and they can't hurt themselves with high torque, safer than a switch for example.
    6:22 - Fanatec pedals, shifter and handbrake can be connected directly to the wheel base, sounds a bit like it isn't the case here.
    7:14 - The system info screen is accessible you have to press D-Pad down instead of left-right to access it. It's written in the quick guide and manual.
    8:45 - You have to screw the locking ring next to the rubber without compressing it so it doesn't slip back when attaching the wheel. Then you also don't need to turn it much and it gets tightened better.
    10:40 - You can save as many setups as you want per game in the upcoming software and select one to automatically load.
    12:50 - You can "simulate" power steering by reducing the force with FF and lowering FEI which works as a high pass filter.
    20:30 - great addition mentioning real steering torque, always hard to find information about that.

    • @TheSimChannel
      @TheSimChannel  5 лет назад +1

      Hey man, thanks for the feedback!
      torque key: right, didn't think of sharing a wheel base with kids. good point!
      shifters, pedals: I did mention all kinds of accessories can be attached in the back, my point at that timestamp is just that PC users don't depend on them as much as they depend on the available wheels.
      system info screen: yep, I already added that info to the description.
      QR mechanism: also added already with a video link on how to do it right.
      number of presets: alright, I thought I read it was 5, but we'll see when it gets here.
      power steering: will have to revisit FEI, when I first tried it didn't get me satisfying results, though.

    Watched on apple TV and had to log in on my laptop just to make this comment! As a former T300, Accuforce, and now current DD1 owner, have to say, great review! Thanks for the effort!
    Was disappointed by the "cog-in-wheel"/tiny bumps in the wheel when turning to (when off, etc). Everyone said it's so smooth, but the same feeling as the Accuforce.

    • @heikogehrig
      @heikogehrig 5 лет назад

      stang15 that’s a harder question to answer than I though. Overall yes, definitely when you look at the overall package and ecosystem, integration, support etc. But as a direct comparison, still yes, but the SimXperience software of the accuforce is simply perhaps the industry best. Definitely not having buyer’s remorse. I love the little extra torque and also the completeness of the DD1.

    Excellent video, very well laid out and extremely informative. Subbed because of it. One question.... I currently have a T500RS with F1 addon attached to my GT Omega ART rig. Your rig looks similar to mine (but i'm guessing yours is the Pro version),. How does your rig cope with the extra forces of the DD1? I would love to upgrade to the DD1/2, but it would start to get a bit expensive if I had to buy a new rig too (e.g. 8020).

      @TheSimChannel  5 лет назад

      @@joeciampa mhh I'm a bit sceptical with the Art. It's always a question of what sims and cars you drive and at what forces. KartKraft at maximum force is a different beast than AC at 10Nm peak. Check out my GT Omega Pro buyers guide video, it has a section on direct drive and flex. Without having tested it, the SimLab GT1 Evo seems to be the best for the buck in terms of complete rigs, and you could take over the seat from the GT Omega.

      Also @8:45 you install the wheel wrong. You first need to turn the locking screw until the gold part touches the ruber so the rubber cant move. You can very nicely see that when you push your wheel on the rubber goes backwards. Therefore it cant expand correctly and might damage Pins or just causes wobble.

    Hey man. I got my DD2 yesterday. Fanatec sent me a CSW angle bracket for $22 shipped. The bracket feels strong enough. I don’t think it’ll be an issue.
    However, with my GT Omega Pro the wheel seems a bit to high now. I’m about 5’10, my old CSW V2 was at a perfect height and angle.
    I have the wheel deck at its lowest adjustment available. If I get rid of the angle bracket it’ll take some modifications to get it at its optimal position. Guess I need to order that SimLab rig.

      It does a fairly good job. You see me use pretty high forces all throughout this video (cornering is almost always above 10Nm) and the flex is minimal. Sure, it could be even less in a good 8020 rig, I'm sure, but for now I don't really see a need to upgrade. BTW most of the flex you see in this video is the "longitudinal" flex from stepping on the brakes, but even that I don't really notice while driving. Watch my GT Omega Pro buyers guide to see what's on my rig :)

      It's the horn button that came with the wheel plus a sticker with a Porsche logo. I had that printed from an online print shop. The term is "3D domed sticker" I believe. I used, I think, 6mm spacers on the back side of the wheel to make the horn button fit between the wheel and Universal Hub.

    15:33 this graph is pretty much nonsense. No one who’s ever used both a clubsport wheelbase and an Accuforce would say that the CSW has higher rotational acceleration or rotational speed than an AF. One is a DD wheel and the other is belt driven.... it’s pretty obvious. This is just Fanatec haughtily trying to slander their closest competitor in the DD space. Real classy.

      @@TheSimChannel- Yes it would be wise to wait before ordering the Podium wheel base. I have the DD1 PS4. And it has gone haywire...most likely a broken pin in the steering wheel mount. I contacted Fanatec and explained the situation and they replied . "We think we can fix this with a firmware update. I sent a message back which said. 'My DD1 PS4 set is boxed up and waiting for you to issue a RMA!
      There is no way a firmware update can fix a broken part.
      I haven't heard back from Fanatec. My Podium set has been out of commission for about a week now and Fanatec is not responding!
      Additional: I got an e-mail from Fanatec today which stated: : The warranty does not cover this - you may have to pay for shipping and repairs."

    • @TheSimChannel
      @TheSimChannel  5 лет назад +2

      It's a Sony 60" Bravia TV, I'm not sure about the exact model though. It's a 1080p, 60Hz model with very low latency. Probably discontinued for a while already. It has to co-function as a TV and regular PC monitor, since I have no space for a 2nd large screen in the living room. There are better options out there though if your main concern is sim racing, like those Samsung 49" ultrawide curved displays.

    • @TheSimChannel

      I think the biggest difference between the two is the torque, so if you like realistic forces even on tracks like Spa with no clipping, the DD1 will have a clear advantage over the CSV2.5. But it's also twice the price, so the question is really how much the extra 600 bucks hurt you, and how much it you get from it. Personally, I'd go for the DD1 (in fact I did go for the DD1), but I'm also a bit of a sucker for high forces in the wheel.
